Man if you get back in Athens go and taste the best galaktompoureko, at least in the city from an old pastry shop called "Kosmikon". It's extraordinary good.

That what you taste in galaktoboureko is not cheese! Just milk mixed with semolina 😉 it is a traditional greek sweet and you can find it all over the country. It also contains syrup (made from sugar water and fresh lemon juice)

Next time in Athens, try out Kosmikon! They specialize in galaktoboureiko and make one of the best in the city!

galaktompoureko is everywhere in Greece. Never had it with cheese though, only with creme.

Next time coming to Crete, visit Rethymno town too. It's 80 klm from Heraklion. Small but beautiful town. During summer is a nice choice! With its beautiful old town with a lot of narrow streets and Fortezza castle, long beach side and sea to swim right away 😊

Lol, don’t feel bad about no magic happening in your life. You are not alone. There is no magic happening in my life either! 😄 Also couldn’t agree more about Galaktoboureko being the best dessert EVER! Once you start you can’t stop. The filling however is made of semolina and milk rather than cheese, hence the name GALA = milk + BOUREKO = pudding. Enjoy. I need to go get my self some Galaktoboureko now too! 😋😋

Galaktoboureko is always a cream-filled pastry. Bougatsa is usually cheese-filled.

You went to Crete at the wrong time. You must go in the summer. Next time in the cities of Chania and Rethymno. And move along the coast in the old towns which have a lot of life and are more beautiful.
