the problem with Esp Ford, and many other makes, is past the 7 year mandate for parts availability, when these parts are no longer available from ford, and the vehicle becomes unusable. Excessively complicated electronic systems are their own worst enemy, filling the junk yards with cars that are only partially recyclable do to the materials content, to expensive to separate. In a time of supposed concern for the planet we are making throw away equipment by the giga-ton.

Yup, I recently went through that with my neighbor's Ford Fusion when the factory alternator died after 200K miles. He tried to get a new one from Ford but couldn't. Got new one from auto parts store, died 2 weeks later. Tried another one from same store, died a month later. Found a new OEM Motorcraft online and it's been working perfectly for the last 2 months. And that's not an easy alternator to change, it requires removing the AC compressor and lowering the subframe and is still nearly impossible to get in or out through the wheel well.

@@samholdsworth420 It wasn't my car, I was helping my neighbor who needed his car back as soon as possible. I agree that rebuilding the stock alternator would have been a better option, it probably just had a bad internal voltage regulator or something. Even though that alternator is in the most ridiculous place I have ever seen, I gotta give the OEM one credit for lasting 200K miles.

We had a Pontiac LeMans which went through a speed sensor every year/10k miles. Right before the extended warranty expired, we took it in one more time. They didn't have oem sensor available, so they offered an aftermarket part, since we both knew the warranty was going out. Aftermarket part worked flawlessly for 70k miles and more, until we sold the car.

I try to use only Ford or Motorcraft parts when possible, but sometimes Ford discontinues a part and we have no choice but to use aftermarket. Good info and thanks for always making great content

That's one of the biggest problems with trying to maintain an older vehicle. Its part of planned obsolescence, the manufacturers (some are worse than others) want you to spend money on a new vehicle after 7 years pretty much after you finally get it paid off in some cases. If you got a 10+ year old vehicle like alot of folks do these days the aftermarket is your only option for most parts. Just need to hope they step up with better quality parts or that not all aftermarket makes are bad. Alot of times I find myself rooting around junk yards for OEM Parts when I can.

I would love to see a scope signal on the controller. According to the wiring diagram it just uses a PWM signal from the HVAC module to control the blower motor ground. Is it back feeding power to the module? I wish I could use all OEM parts...

Would be interesting, but at the end of the day you get paid to fix it, not experiment with a scope and then end up replacing the same part anyway as you will likely not be able to fix the problem with the faulty part.

@@D2O2 The point is to learn exactly how it works and where it's going wrong, and why. Next time it might have a different symptom, but since you understand exactly how it works, you can still troubleshoot the issue... Pulling bad scope signals and also known goods and posting them online is a huge help for everyone; and if we all do it, then that's all the more resources that you or YOUR tech can use next time and save you money. There's nothing wrong with learning

Just a shot in the dark: PWM fans should be changing speeds with a duty cycle.. but they also will typically have a speed signal that feeds back to the model.. and maybe Ford allows that signal to affect whether it turns on the compressor or not... So maybe it wants to SEE that the fan is spinning, and then the AC kicks on; Or vise versa, it wants to cut off the compressor if the fan dies, or stops spinning at least on a low setting-- as a failsafe. Also, maybe the Model wants to see the speed as a feed back loop to self adjust the duty cycle in some way, and since it's not seeing that feedback, it doesn't know what to do and that's why it keeps kicking on full blast, and then cutting out; (not likely this- it's probably just pre-set levels of duty cycle for a simple fan like this). But I don't have a clue-- just thinking out loud. Maybe it's 3 phase with hall effect sensors/ they're all the rage these days. It would be nice to see it on the scope.

When I originally replaced the neutral safety switch on my 2001, I bought an Autozone brand replacement. Didn't have any issues until I decided to test the 4×4 and it would not let the transfer case shift to 4L. Bought a Motorcraft replacement, and everything worked as it should. Lesson learned.

I've seen so many instances where an aftermarket part causes issues but the Motorcraft part solves them. Latest was a worked over 5.0L early 90's Mustang. A lot of modifications. Sorted some electrical issues but couldn't get rid of an intermittent misfire over 3k rpm. Swapped out the MSD TFI module for a Motorcraft one. Ran perfectly. Same on my '98 BMW, the "official BMW" parts are pricey, but you can get the OEM part (a good vendor will let you know) without the branding for far less. There are usually cheaper brands, but they don't work as good.

Ran into this same problem two years ago. I was contacted after another shop pulled their hair out over this. I did same thing with my F150 controller and it confirmed what I diagnosed.

I have been using mainly aftermarket parts for 15 years and first another shop and now my own shop and it is super rare we run into issues, normally it’s dodge sensors that tend to be crappy.

My Rule is. ( on my own vehicles) If it is easy to get too and replace. I shoot the Chicom cannon at it. Have had to replace bad parts about 29% of the time. That is high actually, but when you factor in a $15 switch compared to a $80 switch. That adds up over time. Now if it is a pain in the rear to get at the part. I only want to get in there once. Cost is not the problem. That goes for the work too. Sometimes I look at the work. " Yea, no I am not messing with that." FORD garage bound. Seems like there is a lot more of that on my Late Model F150 compared to my old ones. " Yea... No... I am not doing that."

Yep. I lived in Washington state for 30 + years, and I couldn't find a single Ford dealer that was even half way competent. I moved to the east coast, and found Jerry's Ford right off the bat, and they are absolutely the BEST!!

When I had a 2014 Cadillac CTS4, the dealer installed aftermarket rotors (which REALLY pissed me off!!!) and within 2 days, the brakes did the shimmy-wobble! Of course I took the car back and told them if they get these POS rotors off and replaced with OEM's in 2 hours, I won't dog them via Google reviews or the BBB. They had them done in an hour and a half.

I learned this lesson with a Dodge Ram oil pressure sensor. The $10 ebay one lasted 3 months and had to go back in and remove wheel well liner to hook up oil pressure gauge (to be sure) and plug in the new $50 OEM sensor. OEM only since then.

Excellent video and a shining example of why going OEM for electronic parts is the only way. If my local dealer doesn't have an electronic part I need, I'll scour the Internet to find a reliable OEM replacement. There's been a couple of times I went to the local pick a part for a discontinued part rather than go aftermarket.

I have seen around a 50% bad out of the box rate for dorman ICP sensors and IPR valves for 6.0 powerstroke. I agree, used oem parts are better than new ones made by whoever.

I tried dorman replacement parts on my 2002 Mercury Sable and they failed everytime. Since then I have used nothing but authentic Ford Motorcraft parts with 100% success rate except the time Amazon sold me cheap China knock-off parts.

Thanks for this. I purchased a Doorman intake manifold for my 4.6L Explorer. I removed it a week later, installed the original manifold and waited 4 months for Ford parts to ship during supply chain issues. OEM Is the way to go

I’m usually an OEM person. I use OEM filters and parts. However I too installed a Doorman intake on my 4.6 Towncar. The OEM that was supposed to be the fix for the plastic coolant runner began leaking from the runner gasket where the aluminum runner meets the plastic manifold and leaking into the 5th and 6th plugs, causing misfires. I didn’t want to pay three times the price for an OEM with the exact design of the failed one. I took a chance on a Doorman. 150,000 miles later and still no leaks. I never use aftermarket electronics.

This is so absolutely true. I replaced an alternator on my van a while back and lo and behold we were driving down the street and smoke started coming out of the hood. The alternator had caught fire. Luckily a kid on a skateboard was going by and doused the fire with his water bottle. It was a Napa alternator.

It depends on who is making the aftermarket part. I have seen some aftermarket part manufacturers that redesign the part to be better than the OEM part. I work on many German cars and use aftermarket parts that are an OEM supplier. Many of the parts are OEM with the OEM logo ground off. I see this especially with parts for Mercedes. I steer clear of a part made in China that is aftermarket.

@@kellyc2425 you have to be careful where you source Motorcraft parts. I have seen Motorcraft spark plugs on Amazon and Ebay that were below my cost for sale and they were counterfeit parts. I have also seen this on Mercedes parts also. If the price is too low, I would suspect it to be counterfeit. I will agree that Motorcraft parts are quality parts if genuine.

Agreed! I wasted a lot of my time with 3 aftermarket clock springs on a 2007 Sport Trac that were defective as received. Easily fixed by installation of a Ford clock spring

I agree! I have changed my blower resister on a 2005 f150 twice with so called oem brand from big auto chain store, and had them last for 2 years max! I switch to motor craft blower resister and have been working for 4 years now with no problems!

How true,my wife has a 2016 Ford Escape,I’ve replaced three blower motor resistors from standard,since the ford one went bad,the aftermarket standard ignition parts I always though were a good brand ,I sold them back in the eighties,but now I wished I had bout a motorcraft one instead ,no more aftermarket electronic parts for me.

Such a great video! Been saying this for years. It was nice to see this suspicious activity live on screen. I avoid aftermarket parts as much as I possibly can. The wiring work that was done there by the previous owner is absolutely horrible, I can't believe they did that. Also was just dealing with a similar issue on my wifes 2013 Ford Flex. The factory ground wire on the plug for the speed controller, was getting very hot and the connector and wire was starting to melt. The blower fan would cut off intermittently. Sometimes come back on with a power cycle of the HVAC system, or tapping on the blower fan. I bought a new Ford wire harness pigtail and soldered it in. Working great now! Wires aren't hot and its been working flawlessly without cutting out. Ford Part # 3U2Z-14S411-ZEB

Funny, just experienced something similar. Last week, Dodge Ram 4.7, installed a cheap, but brand new crank sensor. Ran for 5 minutes and then quit. If I restart it, it would go for 10 seconds and then quit, restart, 10 seconds and then quit, regardless if at idle or if the RPM was elevated from me stepping on the gas. Went to a junk yard and got a used OEM, and it went back to normal. Odd thing... No diagnostic trouble codes, no cam/crank correlation code, nothing. Only thing was that the crank variance value would begin to climb for a few seconds until the engine quit. The cam variance value would remain almost at zero, but stable.

Because I watched this video, I saved my sanity. We replaced the resistor with a new aftermarket, then the blower motor, then the HVAC head unit. After this video I went to the junkyard and a $13 sensor has everything working again.

I had an issue with an aftermarket mixer door actuator. Put in a ford one, problem solved. That said, there are some really good aftermarket high volume oil pumps to use...

Nice video, could you show some wire repairs on some of your next videos ? I'm a vauxhall/gm tech and only use duraseal connectors and factory crimp tools for most of my repairs , and as you will probably know , you open a can of worms when it comes to repairs with the argument connectors over solder. I work in a similar fashion to you, so your input on this issue would be valued. Regards Joe

Problem is during "early covid," Ford was out of these OEM blower motor resistors for over 12 months solid. Many of us (myself included) were forced to go aftermarket. Knock on wood it's still working. Well, the first one (autozone) didn't - but the Napa one did. The OEM's have since come back in stock and I grabbed one just in case.

I try telling my brothers and friends to only use OEM parts, but ohhhhh no. And when they bitch about them lasting only a week, I just laugh. It's ONLY 100% OEM parts for my 2016 F-150 King Ranch. And I mean EVERY part. (I did use Mobil1 full synthetic twice because I got it for free) I also ONLY allow Jerry's Ford in Leesburg, VA to work on it. However, I would make ONE exception... and that's Ford Tech Makuloco's shop if I lived in Chicago.

My F 150 (2005) had a no heat issue last winter. Turns out the blower motor was bad. But I also replaced the speed controller with a NAPA aftermarket part. My system is the automatic climate control. Good thing I kept the original Ford because the new 100$ part screwed the hole system up! The old ford part is still working just fine today!!

On a 1989 mercury I bypassed the speed controller with a headlight bulb as a resistor. I had low and high ac fan without trying to unbury the old one. I'm a cheapskate who loves his ac.

I have a 2016 F150 5.0 with trouble code P2007. Lots of forum discussion on this manifold runner control problem and that there seems to be no fix or replacement parts available. Your channel is great, and I sure would like you to do a repot on this headache!

I’ve dealt with this at my dealer. Ppt for the code I had with the aftermarket control told me to replace the pcm. Switched to ford and ac worked fine

I have a 2011 f150 w/6.2. It is like this truck. I bought those Amazon Coils because it had a ton of great reviews, usually don't buy aftermarket coils. In 200 miles I had terrible torque converter shudder. Then a blinking light and a P0305. The good part is the boots and resistors were a perfect fit for the old coils. The set did not cost much more than a set of boots :lol:. Feel bad I put that crap in my 6.2 perfectly running motor :lol:

Recently bought a 2013 F150 Platinum that the blower motor would not turn off. Changed out the resistor with one from O'Reillys like your aftermarket one. Since if I turn off the hvac while driving it won't turn the blower back on when switching the system on till after I restart the truck.

A temp sensor is typically nothing more than a thermocouple, you can test the resistance at certain temps and compare it to OEM specs and determine if it’s really an issue with the temp sensor. Usually things like that a decent aftermarket brand doesn’t scare me, more complex electronics they do

After market window master switch caused a parasitic drain on my 2012 Nissan Altima . Lots of fun finding the cause . I went to the junk yard for a cheap fix . Nissan wanted two fortunes for OEM part . I remember the physical exertion of manual windows .

Wow, talk about crazy! I wonder why that's happening? The module must be one of many parts that have to confirm they are in a "ready" state before the ac compressor is commanded on. I don't even know how you could diagnose that without the OEM part. I could see that driving someone crazy. Anyways, with new vehicles all I trust is OEM parts. Perfect case of why.

Even OEM approved aftermarket parts can be a problem. Our Camry was in the body shop earlier this year, they put in a pair of Toyota approved aftermarket headlights (LED projectors). They couldn't get them to turn on. They're a very good shop so I am confident they know how to pair up new modules. They finally gave up and had to buy actual Toyota headlights at $1000 each I think.

My King Ranch F150 is 21 years old and as others have commented, some ford parts are "obsolete". Who makes the best aftermarket parts? I always try to use reputable brands when I can not get (or can not afford) Ford parts. (Some Ford parts, ie intake manifold, are 3-4 times aftermarket, but isworth the extra). Love your videos.

I agree use oem whenever possible, especially electronics. Some exceptions just to name one the steering stabilizer on the super duties can seem to live up to the higher quality of fox, Icon and King just to name a few. Some after market brakes are just as good as oem. The way you’ll be able to tell is is the price is about the same or more than oem.

Yes that would be awesome. So much you can do with forscan. One thing I was able to do myself was activate remote start on my 2013 F150. Granted I had to buy an antenna and get two new keys cut. But the satisfaction of being able to do it myself was priceless. And it looks factory ..

The OEM blower motor controller started to fail on my Frontier. Without knowing better I put in a Dorman. First time turning on the fan, immediately heard a pop and smelled burning electronics. Could see on the board where it burned a trace. Put in a new OEM part and it worked perfect again (and for many years after).

As a refrigeration mechanic with 23 years experience and I've been twisted wrenches on tractors trucks and engines little bit from time to time I can tell you this you want to go with a known good part until it's no longer good or you find that there is a better part in the aftermarket it doesn't happen very often but like anything it comes down to failure rates whatever has the better failure rate that's the part you go with

Particularly with older vehicles, very often there is no alternative other than the non-OEM part. In my experience, although there is a lot of junk in the after market, if you buy name brand non-OEM you are most often perfectly OK. On the other hand I've bought expensive supposedly OEM parts that were DOA and although the replacement was free, it cost me hours of work and delays. Buying OEM is not a foolproof guarantee.

Precisely. There’s broken Motorcraft parts out of the box or soon after. Post-2020 it’s a crapshoot of whether any part is good.

I changed blend door actuator in a Grand Marquis, new part from NAPA. acted same as the old part. so I'm thinking the control head is bad. screwed around with that thing for hours, finally just bought another actuator at the Ford dealer and boom, fixed. This was years ago when I still thought "new" meant "good", definitely not so these days for chain store parts.

I agree with you about Ford parts, but sometimes Ford parts are not made well. For example, I have bought replacement Ford parts that failed in the same way as their previous parts. In the case of the cooling system hose that goes to the expansion tank, I had to buy an aftermarket part that essentially modifies that hose and uses band clamps (no quick connect). Since I've use that mod, I don't have a leaking expansion tank hose anymore. I had the same trouble with the fuel inlet valve; it was replaced by Ford under warranty and then about 60K miles later it failed again. I'm now using your WD-40 trick to clear the fuel inlet valve so it will seal as you demonstrated in another video. So you're right about Ford parts in general, but there are a few exceptions where aftermarket parts and mod's are better. I'd like to hear you talk about this in a future video. I had the same problem as your second bad module (fan at full all the time). I understand why you would use new Ford parts but, for my own vehicles, or parts that can no longer be found, I take the approach “it’s already broken so I can’t break it any more”. These modules can be taken apart, yes it is a pain in the ass, so you can access the electronic components. In this case the transistor shorts out which causes a full fan on condition. For approx $1 you can buy a new transistor (even one that has a higher current rating), R&R it, glue the housing back together and fix the problem. Mine has been working w/o issue for over 5 years.

@@dropshot5371 As I recall the OEM module was approx $60, and in my case had to be ordered. And since I work with electronics for a living and had a replacement part on hand why not crackit open and see if it could be fixed; 1) So I don't have to wait for the OEM part to arrive, 2) Save approx $60. My post was merely to state that if these old parts can't be found, or a DIYer doesn't want spend the $$, there is an alternative.

My buddy bought a 2012ish Escape with the variable speed blower control and it would work on the lower speeds, when you turned it up to high it would shut off and wouldn't turn back on for a few minutes or key off. Turned out to have a junky aftermarket controller.

Would love to see a video about... The FORD BMS system, explained thoroughly in HD. Does the BMS hold the charge of the battery at 12.4 volts when in static state, rather than 12.6 (2.1volts per cell)? Does the BMS system really help save on gas? Can it be disconnected at the battery, with no consequence? Also.... Undercarriage rust on F-150's? It looks unsightly but it is in fact just surface rust? Can I use a one step rust paint? Can I use pain on the diff Cap?

Did a 11' f150 driver side temp actuator, the bad one, lol. Customer supplied a dorman unit, got it installed, worked for the sweep test and poof, let the smoke out lol.

Hey man love your videos . You have helped me install a drive shaft, 4x4 transfer case motor and starter (worst one to install because that top bolt ) in my 2010 f 150 fx4 5.4 liter. Question do you not recommend aftermarket stereos? I want to upgrade to a 7” touch screen stereo and upgrade my speakers. Do you have any car audio you recommend if so ? Like Pioneer , Alpine or Sony?

Bought a "remanufactured" water pump, years ago. Spent hours putting it back in, filling with fluid, etc. only to find out that it had a tiny, tiny hole in the casting that sprayed fluid once the engine came up to temp. Never again. Won't buy remanufactured parts or anything that isn't OEM.

I always prefer to use Ford OEM Parts, but for all of us that like the older Vehicles it's not as easy to track them down. But you can get lucky & find NOS Parts down sometimes, but with some Parts do you want to put on a 20 year old part, even if it's a NOS part. So sometimes you just have to find a good part you trust, and go with it. But now even some good name brand parts that at one time were right up there with OEM parts in quality, have now moved Factories overseas. And along with cheap labor they now produce cheap parts, but of course they keep the premium price.

I understand aftermarket electronics can not use the exact circuit design or program software as OEM so they tweek it slightly, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I think the bigger question is, why can aftermarket make and sell for 1/4 of the OEM cost.

@@Sjackson2369 The reason is 4 fold. 1) The OEM has the initial cost of development, testing, debugging etc (This could be the auto maker or a 3rd party supplier) 2) The parts are manufactured by a 3rd party and sold to the OE (ie Ford does not actually make Ford branded blower motor controllers, they contract it out to a supplier) so there is a markup (vs the supplier selling it directly, as some will even sell you a rebadged OEM part under their name) 3) Quality, the OEM parts are typically higher quality (with a few exceptions in the form of 'upgraded' aftermarket parts 4) You are paying for the name, Just like any other brand name.

Across the board aftermarket parts are in the crapper. I go used OE if new is too costly. Sometimes we just roll the dice. If it is an easy part to reach and replace, try the good aftermarket stuff. If it is a day to disassemble and a day to reassemble, go with OE new only. We are in rough times as auto repair working stiffs.

I put 5 Blower motor resistors in my 2005 tahoe before I tried a Delco (OEM). Never blew again.

I learned my lesson long ago. Put an aftermarket heater core in a F150. Was a complete pain to install, and lasted 10 months. Sold the truck lol

Had the same problem with my 2010 Escape Hybrid. Full blast only on the dual-zone climate control. I had to search for a couple weeks to find a genuine Motorcraft because I refused to use the aftermarket junk. I found one, it works perfectly, and the dual-zone CC is working perfectly and blowing cold. Or hot. Or whatever I want.

I had a Lincoln MKz or somehting that customer had replaced the blower motor controller with aftermarket and it worked for 2 months. They paid more for the aftermarket part than the FoMoCo part was.

Over the years I’ve noticed that often, for parts like this, blower motors, injectors, ignition coils, etc, the OEM part is only marginally more, or sometimes actually cheaper than aftermarket, from the same parts store.

I run into this problem with "classic" cars. OEM parts are no longer available, so you _have_ to go aftermarket. I can't tell you how many times I've had to repeat repairs because the new part I put in failed almost immediately. And old cars are simple. I can't imagine how much of a nightmare modern vehicles will be to keep on the road twenty years from now.

It makes sense to me now after seeing this video. My four-wheel-drive actuator went out one day before a trip to northern Wisconsin at New Year’s and the Ford dealer had closed for the holidays and I had to go buy an aftermarket. That actuators never been right, so I guess I need to throw the money in the trash and go buy a Ford one. I knew you had said only by the Ford part in your video but I had to get to northern Wisconsin. I bought NAPA lifetime brakes for my F150 and those suckers have been so hard that I don’t think they’re ever going to stop making noise. My Ford brakes lasted a very long time and never made a squeak. However, everyone can learn from this next one. I purchased Napa gold exhaust manifolds because I thought how could a metal exhaust manifold be any different? it’s just a cast iron part? Those things broke again in the first eight months. Luckily the shop I use is a Napa official parts and repair shop and I warranted the parts through him, did not install them, purchase FOMOCO exhaust manifolds, installed those on the truck. Went to my other mechanic in town and used his return credits and we swapped out some labor on another car to get some of the value of the brand new Napa gold manifolds back. No problem since. So yes, three situation‘s were Fordtech Malco appears right with all his experience.

The only aftermarket parts I insist on using as now a DIYer tho formerly an auto mechanic, are brake pads and rotors. Ford's are shot after 22-30,000 miles - and my wife and I are light footed on them. Super premiums as a replacement last 60-85,000 and are usually still legal in NY State at change out.

Having been a Ford dealership technician, I have seen the difference. The cost of an OEM part may be higher, but if you have to buy cheaper aftermarket, twice or more where is the savings? Not to mention the labor

Most maintenance and 'dumb' parts are fine aftermarket, brakes, filters, gaskets, analog door handles etc. Anything electronic, including spark plugs oem only, Ford or otherwise. Although sometimes you can get decent aftermarket parts, I had a Napa gold alternator on a Focus once and it lasted many good years until the car was sold.

Have to say I am approaching 70, years not mph, and I have had multiple cars make 300k, best was a 95 Explorer I bought used at 90k, and sold running at 450k. Had overall very good experience with most aftermarket parts. Don't buy the cheapest, look at the warranty, look at the difficulty of redoing the work vs the usually higher priced OEM part. That said, newer vehicles are so much more dependent on the electrical system/sensors/ modules that I will definitely start leaning more to the side of OEM based on the mentioned experiences of others. Yeah, i always order OEM parts! A little more expensive but then you know it will work with no hassle. You cut the time also. I have a Volvo built on Ford chassis and parts. FoMoCo.. Ford Focus S-Max/C-Max Ford Focus Mk2... etc.. litterly the same parts. More or less.

I can find about everything for older Fords, whether new on rockauto or something or new old stock. There are some things where aftermarket is ok IMO with decent brands.

Use a quality brand. Bosch and denso are good electronic suppliers. Many of the electric parts branded FoMoCo are built by those 2 companies anyway. Just don't use some knock off brand from China. Use a reputable builder. That should be a disclaimer on this video. When he says "Don't use aftermarket..." he means cheap eBay parts from China, not Bosch or Denso.

Sometimes you can research and find the original manufacture of the part like, Delphi, NGK/NTK, Bosch, etc...Otherwise Tech forums to see what they have found as a good replacement. Stay away from Standard, Dorman, or ebay/Amazon those will be marked with the manufacture name and part numbers, but are counterfeit and will be junk, causing problems like in this video. If you have a lab scope, you can compare known good wave forms to the one you are questioning. But I like if several techs have recommended based on experience, especially if they show data to back the claim. It's still a crap shoot, Like with AC Delco, where some of their products are made overseas and not the same quality as factory. That's my 2 cents...

RockAuto, Napa, autoZone will usually expunge problem parts. Autoparts stores are getting expensive. For specific models F150, Mustang etc there are specialists sells and forums dedicated. Join the web forum for your vehicle and ask others what works and what is problematic. Maybe save some money. Just got screwed on 1998 catalytic converters full exhaust both sides. Made in Philippines (Evans?) and sold on Amazon = would not fit at all even when I cut it = flanges were way off connecting to exhaust manifold. Bought a Walker set for about 2x.
