That's the point. It's simple, practical, easy to repair and above all cost effective. I personally like EUV over EV. EV looks like it got cut too short from the back. This one has balanced look. I bought 2023 Bolt EUV. $21k after $7500 EV rebate, that's cheaper than Corolla or even Nissan Sentra. The ride is so smooth even with simple suspension in the back. Smoother than Tesla. The cabin is quieter than Tesla. This car checks all the boxes for entry level electric car for city driving. Just need to see how it will hold up over the years. Chevrolet lacks in that department compared to Toyota or Honda.

In Colorado, you can also qualify for another $7,500 in state tax rebates. $5,000 for going EV and another $2,500 if the MSRP is below $35k (think smaller cars on the road). Local dealerships have been screwing buyers by tacking on a "market value fee" of anywhere from $3k to $5k over MSRP. We ended up finding a dealership in Huntington Beach, CA that was charging MSRP. They're actually all over the place. Just need to find one via Chevy's inventory site. This dealership also offered the Federal rebate up front, meaning no need to wait until tax time. My wife is a nurse, which got us an additional $500 instant rebate. So we picked a $29,500 EUV online. After $8k in instant rebates, it was $21,500 out of pocket paid in full. We used Montway auto transport to ship it to us in CO for $850. Paid $2,800 in taxes and registration in CO. That's just over $25k out of pocket for a brand new EV. In 2025, we'll get the CO rebate bringing the total cost of the car down to $17,500. The last time you could get a car for that much, after taxes and registration, was probably in the early 90's. And the car is absolutely amazing for a commuter that doesn't require gas. Helps that we have solar and a L2 charger in our garage.

Personally I love my 2017 Bolt Premier EV. I live in metro Denver and get 375 miles per 65kWh's. I will add that at my age, my driving styleis more conservative than when I was younger. I tend to set cruise on the speed limit. That mileage includes driving up into the mountains. And I must say, the Bolt eats hills alive. Like the hill doesn't exist. Now 58 months since I have been to a gas station. Total service cost in 58 month, 62,000 miles is $218 excluding tires.

My parents bought a Bolt EUV this spring. They really like it and drive it all over the Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri area regularly. After the GM and State rebates it was 26 grand. I feel it is an incredible value for a new car. The Bolt EUV has a lot more rear passenger room over the regular bolt. The reduction of cargo space was not noticeable. I'm working on a Mazda RX8 rotary engine an needed the engine transported from central Nebraska to SW Missouri for a rebuild. We put the rotary engine in the back of the Bolt EUV and it fit even with the back seats up. After being around one and experiencing it first hand as well as seeing the true cost, it's a real bargain of a car. It's not an off-road capable SUV but there is certainly utility to it and worthy of the EUV name. Because of the affordability and usability, I give it an 8/10 score.

Chevy dropped the price of these Bolts pretty much equivalent to the total of most all rebates. Around $7,000. I have heard a number of Bolt reviews praise the car for it’s “Fun factor” when being driven. The owners seem to love them universally. Perhaps their expectations are more grounded. Also, owners that have received new batter packs are given the full length warranty, regardless of the age or mileage of their car prior to replacement. Clearly not gouging. Money in the pocket.

Agree entirely with the EV being better than the EUV. I've had a 2017 Bolt Premier for a few years now and it's been amazing. $15,000 would be saved in 5ish years over a half the price gas car thanks to the lack of necessary maintenance and much lower per mile cost. Chevy Spark 0-60 is >10 seconds. It has half the horsepower, less than half the torque, and gets less than a quarter of the average MPG of the Bolt. Sure it's half the price, but it's less than half the car. The Mirage has similar specs to, but gets better mileage than the Spark. Still half the car for half the price. Charging my Bolt takes 10 seconds (outside of road trips) I just plug it in when I get home and it's ready the next morning. No more bi-weekly pilgrimages to the gas station. If you road trip often then the Bolt may not be for you thanks to it's very lacking 50kw max charging speed.

There is this mythology that people do not like their EV's or do not want ot buy them. I think that is not the view of most people. The main issue is that there are not enough charging stations and that stations that do exist are not reliable enough.

I recently took delivery of a base model 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV and love it! I do not agree with much of the content of this video. First of all, the base price on my car was $27,200. The only option was dealer installed "all weather" floor mats for $175 which are a necessity here in winter and farm boot land. Add 995. destination charge and I paid a total of $28,370 (+ tax and plates). This is a great car for that price. And installation of a basic garage charging point (varies by your particular home setup) is included in the price. I disagree with several video comments such as dissing the steel lower battery shield, much stronger on our gravel roads than aluminum, and many more. The Bolt has over 200 miles on a charge. We will use it for instate travel in-state usually charging overnight at home, saving miles and fuel on our diesel farm truck and Subaru 2nd car. It's fun to drive once you get the hang of it. Sarah may be cute and entertaining but not a very useful EV reviewer.

We bought a 22EUV in July and love it. Selling points to us vs the EV were the standard lvl2 charger plus install, backseat easily handled a rear facing car seat, and it was available. GM also has a $6,600 incentive through 12/31/2022 before the official price drop on 1/1/23 so ours was just under 30k out the door.

It's literally the Model T for the EV movement. An extremely important car to get the masses to switch from gas to electric. Sure, the range is an issue. But if GM can make it reliable, they'll have a massive sales winner on their hands. Unfortunately, it's a modern-day GM product. So, not going to hold my breath.

so cool to see this! I just purchased one of these 2 weeks ago! and just had the 220v 50a circuit installed in my garage (for free) last week. The estimate was just shy of $1500, so that's quite a savings and it charges so much faster even with the 32a charger included. There is a dude that has done a full deep dive on the bolt power train and electronic modules in the bolt (older version but still same). it was quite informative! (search for weberauto). I got mine for just going around town, not for long distance. it's actually pretty not bad, especially for well under 40k! The energy saving, no-grip tires are my only beef... ;)

The fact that everything is basic, simple, etc should be the reason why it has to earn a 5 out of 5. It's an economy car that does the job that a more expensive one does. It's simplicity is the best aspect of it.

As a professional mechanic since 1969, mostly Honda dealerships, I bought a 2022 Bolt EUV for the simplicity and ease of maintenance. I HATE working on my own stuff! I charge it once every week or so and have a special deal with Alabama Power that lets EV owners get a reduced rate from 9PM to 5AM. Of course all clothes, dish washing, and drying occur during that period. Just turn 'em on when I go to bed. Even my water heaters have timers on them to only heat during those hours. Remove the floor in the "trunk" and it will haul lots of groceries. 99% of my around town driving is done in it and all charging here at home which amounts to around $1.50 a week for power. I don't travel in it. I bought a 2020 electric KTM dirt bike in 2020. Dirtbikes are money pits of maintenance. Now, 3 1/2 years later, people ask what the maintenance is like. My response is "I don't know". Haven't done anything but tires and a chain. I LOVE my Bolt!!

@@crappyslippers6917 Your comment has aged well. With the Blazer EV being introduced at 60k, GM's announcement lower trims will not be available at previously promised 45k, the "30k Equinox" will likely be shifted toward 45k territory, leaving the recently announced Bolt revival for the 30k price point. At mid-20's (after tax credit) the current batch of outgoing EV/EUV's may be the least expensive electric vehicles we ever see. Not a bad deal for anyone who doesn't need charging speeds greater than ~50kW.

If there is going to be a massive shift to EVs it will require a Model T/ VW Beetle type of cheap car
@stephenkosman6963
@stephenkosman6963 11 месяцев назад
In 1964, a VW Beetle cost $1757. Adjusted for inflation, that translates to $17,293 today. Assuming you can find/order (the cutoff for orders is mid-august, 2023) a bare-bones base model Bolt EV, the price is $26000 before tax credits. That becomes $18,500 after the tax credit, and even lower if there are state-level incentives, and/or if you take $1500 lvl2 charger install into account. But just like late 1950's throughout the mid 60's, consumers today are living in a world of cheap energy and continue to seek large cars.
