I was going to get an S23 Ultra but came across a sale for $300 off on the Pixel 7 Pro. Got a 256G model for $699 and absolutely love it. No regrets and the value is unbeatable.
This is gonna be my daily driver for the next 2 years lol I can’t be bothered upgrading and since this is getting updates until at least 2025 it makes sense to keep it
I bought the 7PRO as soon as I came out, I had other pixels in the past and I always found myself well, with this 7 Pro I'm sure to keep it at least a couple of years. I love its simplicity.
My wife and I have been rocking the Pixel 7 Pro (also in hazel) for a while. I do wish battery life was a bit better as I do have to top off the charge in the middle of the day. I also wish that the face biometrics were fully supported in banking apps, etc. However, overall I am pretty happy with the phone.
Had the pixel 7 pro since launch and like it very much. Camera is amazing and I love the software experience. Only things I’d change are in the design area. Flat screen and matte glass on the back. Other than that I’m extremely happy with my first ever pixel phone.
I got the 512GB Pixel 7 Pro in Hazel at launch. This has been such a stable daily driver for me ever since. The battery life actually got better over time; sometimes when I'm at 30% and below I trust its standby time more than I have for any other phone since maybe the iPhone XR.
I absolutely distrust standby time on a Pixel coming from a Huawei. In airplane mode with wifi calling it uses 0,7%/h but that's not a problem because then I usually have a charger at hand. The problem is on mobile data (4G) with 2% to 4% per hour which adds up over a 16h day.
@@maxmustermann7365 my Pixel 7pro idle 4G cellular battery drain 12% in 6 Hour, phone just idle GPS,Bluetooth,AOD,Wifi are OFF that is normal? test during i sleep
I'm still rocking my Pixel 6 Pro with Graphene OS. Can't wait for the Pixel 8 Pro and I'm really hoping it comes with an ARMv9 SoC with all the new security features that entails.
One thing I don't like about Google is from the pixel 6 series they stopped unlimited photo storage at data saver mode. I was a happy Pixel 3axl user before but got disappointed after buying 6a. Google should have considered for at least pixel users. How many need that features back.
I love my P7 Pro. I still have my 4a 5g that i use as a Google Photo server (last phone to come with unlimited Google Photo storage). On the 1st of every month all i do is quick share that month's photos to my Pixel 4a and voila, backed up. I do that with my other phones too.
have only had reception problems with this phone. Contacted google and it's a known problem to them... yet, they keep on saying an update would come... I am missing 99% of my calls. no reception ALL the time. Just beware guys, these reviewers received the phone from google and want to keep a good relation with them.. seriously do not understand how none of these "tech" RU-vidrs is mentioning this problem.. no trust anymore
One thing i just noticed today about my Pixel. the bottom left speaker seems to not do much in terms of sound. Seems like most of the sound at the bottom is only out of the right bottom speaker.
Keep in mind that there are no screen protectors so far that - aren't just a foil against scratches - have an ugly cut out at the finger print sensor - need UV light application
@@aprilmiller2374 Show me single one following those criteria. I'm with a foil against scratches since October because I can't stand the fingerprint cutout and don't want to mess up with fluid adhesive
One of my favorite things to do in tech videos is to see random things on the phone and today I saw a new one 😂: " Top Five Torture Techniques from Medi..." on a RU-vid notification. Am I allowed to be nosey and ask what is that lol? With that said, the Pixel has become my favorite device to talk about the past 3 or so years. It has the best software communication features ( Direct My Call, Call Screening, Hold for me, etc) and that native voice to text on the 6 and 7 series is insane. I would write my RU-vid scripts with those.
Exactly. The speech, recognition and recorder app are magical. I have the pixel 6a for that reason alone. Unfortunately, I am still an iOS user with a 13 mini, for now. Any long emails, etc. I take out the pixel
I kept waiting for Google to release the pixel ULTRA that was hyped up / leaked around 2019 as a replacement for my pixel 3 XL. I was expecting Google to offer unlimited back up of 4K60 video recording in the new ULTRA lineup, as I saw the writing on the wall for "original resolution" backup for pixel phones to have been permanently downgraded from their promise with the 2016 OG pixel. when that never came to fruition, I decided to get a phone with "ULTRA " hardware and 1 TB microsd myself - the Sony Xperia 1 III; now waiting for the updated Sony Xperia pro with an even better heatsink than its first iteration.
I got the Spigen neo flex screen protectors for mine no issues with sensitivity and not glass so fits curve nicely had on for 5 months no complaints in case your still shopping.
I've seen so many shows and movies where they knock out or kill someone and hold the phone to the unconscious face to unlock it. Probably won't work without the eyes open but something to think about. Also if the police are trying to get information from you (assumedly you are innocent) they can hold your phone to your face to unlock it or also grab your finger to use the fingerprint sensor. They cannot force you to divulge your password though. Something you have versus something you know.
Also if someone steals your phone, your fingerprints are probably all over it which can be lifted and duplicated easily. I once saw a demo where they recreated lifted fingerprints with a melted gummy bear!
Biometrics are the worst idea in security ever. Worse than no password. You can always add a password, but once your biometrics are duplicated, you are compromised forever, and good luck convincing s credit card company you didn't make that purchase. Unrevocable credentials are a hackers best friend.
@@genjii931 What's never mentioned in these discussions is that under the hood that biometric data is just that, data. Same as any passwords it's just numbers. Just because it's tied to your retina or whatever doesn't change that. So still something that can be copied without removing body parts.
@@ShannonMorse something unrelated to the security, I'm sure you know this but the main drain on battery power is the screen. Just turning it down dim makes it last much longer. You can always turn it back up when in the sun or whatever. My wife turns hers so far down that she can barely see it. That's extreme though. I like it just above midway for most of the time.
Background battery drain is horrible! 1%/h in Wifi 4%/h on 4G On a 16h day that could already be 64% of battery while you're not even using the phone. Now given the 10%/h Screen On consumption in brighter areas that could leave one with only 3½h SOT on a sunny day outside with navigation for example on vacation. Google seriously needs to fix this. Moreover loosing 8% over night is also not acceptable.
Yeah, I would agree there back brown drain is not there yet. Nowhere near as good as it should be. I’m guessing tensor 3 maybe they’ll get it fixed. I’ve got the regular pixel seven and I would say that’s probably my only negative on the phone is the battery life besides for me it’s good.
correct! over night pixel 7 pro with 4G cellular. wifi, bluetooth,GPS,AOD are OFF. after 6 Hour battery drain 13% just for idle that is not accaptable with 5000mah battery.. 🙃🥲
There are no screen protectors so far that - aren't just a foil against scratches - have an ugly cut out at the finger print sensor - need UV light application (expensive like 50€)
@@maxmustermann7365 there are plenty of adhesive+uv light tempered glass screen protectors that are not as expensive as the whitestone dome ones and work really well. the tempered glass i used on my pixel 6 pro covered the curved edges of the phone, did not have a fingerprint cutout, fingerprint sensor works perfectly fine, and cost 60% of what whitestone dome charges.
@@yaboipookiepook whitestone dome was really one of the earlier companies to offer the adhesive and uv light tempered glass protectors which is why they could charge the $50 for their kits. they were pretty much the only option for curved displays 5-6 years ago. the past 3 years or so, multiple companies are offering the same thing. the excuse that curved tempered glass protectors are too expensive just doesn't work anymore.
@@welshlad6427 I love tech and like switching it up every so often I’m not brand loyal to any. But what did screw me up is having two iPhones back to back and each last me 3-5 years. So I’ve been out of the android evolution experience for ~6 years.
i was always a pixel user.. They're too large now.. I switched to an Iphone13 mini. If Pixel would make a darn small phone again Pixel 5 size .. but preferably smaller I'd be back! Great video, thanks
I hate my pixel 7. My favorite ear buds don't pair. Some ear buds pair fine but not my favorite set and now my skull candy buds wont pair either. Also the Pixel 7 wont cast to my Roku or Fire stick. Apparently there's a 3rd party app one can use but come on, who wants to give yet another company access to your phone through an anther app?
I was having this issue with my daughter's Pixel 7. I have the 7 Pro model and it mirrors easily with my Roku device. I do hope they fix this issue with an update.
I love the pixel but chose a s23 ultra due to battery life. Also I don’t like the google search bar stuck at the bottom. I know I can get another launcher but prefer one ui. Fingerprint scanner is better for me on Samsung as well.
I think the problem with the camera rotating is the auto rotate feature being on, I tested it with and without it on, on my pixel 7 and for me it didn't rotate when I lined it up with the little cross in the middle. I did however notice it a couple of times when auto rotate was on, so you can try that.
It's so tempting to get a Pixel 7 atm...a bit pricy, but still not bad at 599€ on sale. My OnePlus 8T is still running really well though and using a Pixel 6 as my work phone, which isn't that dissimilar to the 8T tbh. I'd love the 5 years of updates though.
There's probably no point for the regular 7, either get a 6a or a 7 Pro for the zoom camera only. With Pixels bad background drain I'd tweak every little bit of battery possible including only using 60Hz (which is enough if you're not Pixel peaking next to ur finger rather than focussing on the content) and wireless charging wouldn't be worth double the price for me.
I am on the fence for Pixel 7 Pro or Samsung Ultra 23. I heard the 7 Pro isn't compatible or able to handle the new 5G standard(s). I didn't read the article as far as I should so sorry about being vague. But it sounded like there is a new 5G standard that the Pro won't work with. Is this something Google will be able to address with a software update or is it that the 7 Pro doesn't have the right chipset? Going to watch your Ultra 23 review next:)!
The article states the 7 series Pixels shipped with a 5G standard from 2018 and will receive the updated one with Android 14. The same article also mentions the same new standard will be available for the Snapdragon x65 and x70 (which is what the S23 series uses) so they haven't received it either. It will improve 5G efficiency and performance across the board once it rolls out. I was on the fence about both phones but found the 7 Pro for $300 off and gave it a try with some hesitation after a bad experience with the Pixel 6 Pro. I honestly haven't been disappointed at all. It's snappy and moved through apps faster than my S22 Ultra and iPhone 13 Pro Max. But if you are a fan of more granular settings, better selfie camera quality, or the s pen the Samsung is the way to go. But you'll have to consider if those features are worth the $500 premium. I don't think you'd be disappointed with either phone TBH. But I can say the Pixel may cost less but doesn't feel or operate like a cheaper phone. It goes blow for blow with a phone that's significantly more expensive.
I'd like to try it but it's not sold in the country unless it's third party importer. Maybe when it reaches my country's shore I'd be able to test it out properly.
No issues with mine I have super dry skin and the fingerprint scanner is great Never use a screen protector and rarely a case, for now using a slim Peel case, till it gets on my nerves and remove it
Hello Shannon I bought the Google pixel 7pro it's a good phone but I don't like how it's skinny and Long, it's awful, and look like a Long stick I'm taking it back at least the iphone keep it wider than Samsung and Google 😮
I feel like the only reason why people use pixel phones is because of graphene. But please don't buy pixel phones just because of graphene just buy Xiaomi phones instead there's like 10 times more custom ROM then pixel and there's even a tool in case something goes wrong.
@@ShannonMorse thanks. Hard to tell with Instagram resolution but look better than what mine outputs. Theres a few reddit threads about the selfie quality issues.
Changed the 7Pro for an S23 Ultra. Battery trash, can't share screen to TV without a Chromecast. Can't take a clip of a photo. In my opinion the phone is boring.
