My adult daughter lives in Florida and was coming at the end of delivering newspapers. She was going about 40, not under any influence, not speeding. She was following the rules of the road. As she was passing a concrete divider in the center of the road, some guy under the influence of something (police who responded later confirmed he was under the influence, but did not specify what) dove out right in front of my daughter. She had no time to react. He hit the driver's side of her car, totaling it out. My daughter has nightmares still. She was found 100% NOT at fault. The mother of the guy who jumped in front of my daughter's car is doing her best to sue my daughter for a million dollars. My daughter is still fighting this lawsuit. Fortunately, her home is in her father in law's name. It always has been, as he gave it to my daughter and his son. My daughter is in therapy for PTSD. She has nightmares all the time from this horrible accident, but she holds no responsibility, as it wasn't her fault.
Prayers for your daughter. Florida should, expedite the lawsuit against her... as in, throw it out and the Mom should get counter-sued and charged any expenses your daughter has incurred.
The aftermath does stick with you. When I was young and an EMT, my partner and I got called out to a rural scene. A motorcyclist going home did what his friends say he did daily - failed to stop before crossing the highway. Too bad an elderly couple were on the highway at that exact moment. T-boned him, he went up the hood, hit the windshield, over the roof and off to the shoulder of the road. On arrival, his body was chest down, but the head was face up. My hardened paramedic partner didn't even want to touch him, but for liability purposes, I checked for a pulse. His body was like a bag of jello. It just jiggled all over when I tried. We had to get the elderly folks to go to the nearby house because we thought they were going to have a heart attack. I'm glad it was the coroner that had to pick him up, because I wasn't sure how we would have. I think that was worse than the guy missing the turn doing triple the speed limit and hitting the chain link fence. I remember these vividly and that was the early 1980s.
For those those that are mad the officer didn't render aid, when Donut says "he looked like lasagna", imagine a bug on a windshield...but scaled up to the size of a person. At that point no amount of aid the officer can give would help, it would be like putting a bandaid on a decapitation.
Yeah a 3500-4000lb vehicle going at highway speeds, physics definitely applies here, you can actually see how far away he landed. He probably got extra tenderized on impact with the ground.
@@HonkHill-ev4hk I saw a pedestrian get hit by a bus doing 60 once, horrific. For lack of better term he just...exploded, I never would have thought a former human being could occupy that much square area. I feel for the people who have to respond to that kind of horror on a regular basis.

@@justmarc2015bro I have been seeing that on EVERY video for the past couple months. It was always a thing but it has gotten way _WAY_ worse as of lately. We need to come up with a derogatory term for it and spam it whenever we see it
Exactly. This cop messed up so bad. Letting him dig in pockets the entire stop and not stopping him light a cigarette. He need to be under review for not following procedure. This may have never happened. Now the person has to live with taking a life
@@dillanhamiltonMaybe it has to do with that fact cops are so scared to actually do their job because every justified shooting or use of force is heavily scrutinized by people who don't know what the hell their talking about.
I think the...1st...person who hit guy, kept going, the 2nd and 3rd rolled over the mush of what was left of that pour idiot, and the lady on the side may or may NOT have been a hitter at all!!she probably got entrails on her car at some point and wanted to help thru the fits of vo.itting!! 😢
One of the rare instances where I think the cop gave the guy too many chances. Letting him go back to his car more than once was ridiculous. The cigarette was ridiculous. “Sit on that thing” was ridiculous.
That's exactly why police aren't supposed to de-escalate from a level of force once they've had to escalate that far. Verbal commands are the lowest level of force, with hands-on restraint being the next level of force. This officer got to the hands-on point but then released the suspect and went back down to verbal commands. When officers do that, bad things like this usually happen. Look up the case of David Ware. He wound up shooting two officers during a traffic stop. Both were hit in the head, one died. There are videos of it on RU-vid. Those officers de-escalated from hands-on back down to verbal commands and it gave Ware the time he needed to retreat back into his car and retrieve the gun.
Mfs must not have been raised with consequences. The literal consequence of not follow the cops instructions was the bodybag. I rather get hit with a baton than a car, tbh I rather just follow instructions and not put me self in situations like this. Excessive force when the mf been digging in his pockets for like 3 minutes? it only takes less than a fucking second for someone to suddenly pull up the barrel on you while ur busy pussy footing around the clear potential danger just so some squares don't get upset. Excessive force is bad, but in this situation the guy was doing all the things cops want you NOT to do so they DONT see you as a potential threat, not following instructions WHILE doing those things is like announcing "No I will not comply, do something about it" and then getting surprised when a cop body tackles you to the ground.
Imagine driving home at night and suddenly hitting someone like that only to get out and find a bunch of cops with guns and flashlights already on scene. That poor lady was trying to figure out what was going on. "Am I in trouble?" "Am I a killer now?" "Am I under arrest?" "Is that spaghetti?"

He was probably one of the ones that REE'd so hard about how police should be more patient Hopefully he's learned his lesson as to why the police have so little patience
Yep, so many videos of officers “deescalating” forever as that’s what people want. Trooper could’ve choked him out in the first 5 mins and it would’ve been over. Oh but wait, can’t do that anymore so we allow the criminals to do exactly what this moron did. He sure could’ve had a gun and I have seen those videos too where they end up getting shot and/or police get shot. I thank god I am retired and feel for officers today, just no win situation for them.
The most tragic part of this is it could have been prevented. The officer gave this guy every single chance he could to comply. You said it yourself, Donut. Ask, Tell, Make.
One could even argue that if the officer didn't gave so many chances and went all in tackling the guy to the ground at the first opportunity he had the guy would still be alive. Not to shit on the officer ofc, I blame the constant villification of police that makes them afraid to act more proactively. This is a direct lethal victim of anti police movement.
@@rrphantom8194 I would throw villification at the officer. His inaction when required directly led to that drunk moron being back behind the wheel which is endangering the public - exactly what the officer is there to prevent. The responding officer seeing the driver shift, slamming the driver's side door closed so his buddy didn't get clipped was some fast thinking!! Super impressive

I understand the logic, but in practice this is not only difficult to do (its hard to blindly pull the keys out from the driver's side) but also dangerous, since to reach it you would have to get close to the driver, pretty close, sometimes even "please stab my neck" close, so its not worth the risk, i think they do pull the keys from motorcycles tho Edit: i just remembered that he was already out of the car, still, sticking your body inside a suspicious car is still not a good idea imo

In a lot of jurisdictions they serve completely different jobs. Where I live currently the sheriff's department rarely worries about you driving over the limit unless of course you're endangering others. They don't run tags or mess with expired inspections either. In ten years I was just told by one about the recent hands-free law and she went on without even an ID check. He may be a good guy but he's a poor example of a cop (or is the best example of a cop). Cop shouldn't be on the force if he cannot handle a drunk driver. Tased the man and then shot him. Too many opportunities. We’ve all been in stores, restaurants, ETC., where a child(or more than one child) is ALLOWED to run loose, through temper tantrums to get their own way over something by screaming and hollering, some of these kids even flinging themselves to the floor while screaming and hollering, and basically all the parent(s) will do is REPEAT something along the lines of: “now Johnny, now Johnny, now Johnny, now Johnny…” A lot of these bratty kids are now about 35 years old and STILL their parent(s) are saying to them “now Johnny, now Johnny…”.
