Hi Doug! I really enjoyed your Stan podcast also. Love to hear about the sobriety. I had a pain killer addiction due to back surgeries that led me to dependence on the drugs. I do take kratom now for pain that helps and more mild. I also quit alcohol completely and I love how it makes me feel and stay lean. Thanks again for the great content.

Idk that any of the fasting gurus claim that you'll lose more body fat via fasting when calories are equal. What they are saying is that hormonally it makes a difference to how you feel about it. It's easier to fast and only have 2 meals in a day than eating all day but only small portions. So people are more likely to stick to a calorie deficit.

Great interview. Good info. One question I have is do you consider counting macros one of the non negotiables of weight loss. Many people want to lose weight but don't want to count calories or macros. You go through the day estimating how much you've eaten and eat by how hungry you feel. Can food and macro choices replace counting calories to get you into a calorie deficit weight loss routine?

I don't feel bad at all about not drinking. Infact when I'm out with friends or anyone for that matter, everything revolves around alcohol. They will say to me oh man that's cool that you don't drink I should really not drink as much. Almost everyone tells me a similar thing. It's like a guilty indulgence. I never care what people do I just feel good like Alan does.
