The fact they keep catching the guy that does not know its a hidden show in acts of absolute kindness that he thinks nobody will ever see is the most heart warming thing about this show. Its just so fucking sweet, i have a cavity like damn
He does know he's being recorded, the premise is that it's for a "documentary about the jury process". So he definitely thinks people will see it, he just doesn't know that he's the only non-actor.
If I remember right, the exact same thing happened on the "Joe Schmo Show", an early 2000's show with almost the exact same premise, except it was a fake reality show. The dude was so nice and likeable that the actors all started feeling really bad about tricking him lol
@@sjgc7 He knows that they are recording interviews and stuff, but otherwise he thinks he's just living his life. Most of the footage other than interviews is from hidden cameras.
I freaking loved The Joe Schmo Show. Then they did Joe Schmo Show 2 with two non-actors in that one, one guy & one gal. Women are a lot better at sniffing out BS I guess. They ended up having to tell the woman half way through the series what was going on because she was calling out too much of the actors in the storyline and they feared that she was going to make the other non-actor guy aware of what was going on. Good times. I miss that series.
@@PentaromaLMA0 There's an interview where Ronald said he is open to acting gigs now. He hasn't received any offers for anything as far as we know, but who knows, we might see him in something else one day.
You think it’s scripted? I’m thinking it’s probably partially scripted, at least it’s totally laid out, but I think it’s a lot of improv. Hopefully there’s not any retakes or else it’s totally fake so that’s probably send them down a route where it’s a lot of improv
It’s partially scripted, like the mannequins, the accidental offensive ‘jorf’, Noah getting drunk, the high bill, that was scripted, but there is likely also a lot of improv, most of what the actors say or do is likely in character but not scripted, I wouldn’t even doubt if some larger moments like the arm wrestle were unscripted, many movies have lines which fit very well and were funny but were also improvised.
Don't get me wrong...This is definitely one of my favorite shows of all time, and I am in love with Ronald. However, it is somewhat cruel because everyone other than Ronald is an actor at the end of the day. He spent weeks with them and genuinely built a connection with them, and you can tell that he saw them as friends. But it's such a yikes because it is in a sense gaslighting. The people he hung out with weren't real; the situations weren't real; even the place they were filming in wasn't entirely real (spoiler alert). Like you made "friends" with people who were just acting. Did they genuinely like you? Were they just being friendly because they were being paid to? Just thoughts like that. I know if I found myself in a situation like that, I'd be super fd up afterward.
@@AdaAdaAdanna If I'm one of those actors, even if I am acting because I get paid, I'd definitely genuinely befriend Ronald. Especially because of how he's been without knowing he is being filmed(apart from interviews etc). You kinda have a broader perspective as the person knowing you're acting and knowing that Ronald is not
@@AdaAdaAdanna there's a person in chat that claims they know Ronald and that he's still friends with a bunch of the actors, whether or not they're being honest idk but I'll choose to believe Ronald was a good sport and is still friends with them lol hopefully Gunnar can get an interview with him so he can ask! Would definitely be an awesome video (and stream, if he streamed it!)
Wholesome right. . . Litterally makes tons of sex jokes, and in my opinion, some are way more adult than say the office or parks and rec. It's funny, and there are wholesome moments, sure, but ehhh saying it's all wholesome doesn't make sense.
I really like how the commentary adds to the show rather than distract the viewers. Normally reactors would pause or whatever but I really feel like I'm watching this with my friend lol
Most of the RU-vid reaction channels have to pause to keep their videos from being claimed or getting a copyright strikes but on a stream it's a lot different, they don't need to pause as much. But if it's specifically a RU-vid reaction channel, they can't watch anything straight through or even leave it on the screen too long while it's paused, otherwise it'll get claimed (they consider it a breach of fair use I guess) I only know this because I watch a channel where he addresses people commenting that he pauses too often and explains why they have to lol
blonde hair girl casually drops" and uh my dog who's a pet (...)" , that to me, so far, is the mvp character f. christ she played the part really well it was great, i didnt really physically laugh the whole episode but that one got me almost tearing up
I’m starting the think the real prank might be on the audience (us) for believing this guy doesn’t actually know he’s on a reality TV show. We need an interview with him for sure
@@moupurii6519 like watched as in he’s scared he’s still being filmed/stalked? Or scared of people watching the show itself? I haven’t anything past this so I have literally no idea what happened but it got a little too absurd for me to believe he isn’t starting to realize. Poor guy, he better get a nice check afterwards, literally carrying the show. Execs probably look at it like free acting
I noticed in a previous video, someone commented that unlike most fake shows like this, they aren't trying to make an ass of the dude in this. Not only that though, they're making him out to be such a nice guy, on top of him ACTUALLY BEING that cool a dude, from what I can tell. The whole goal of the show was to make him out to be the one decently normal person in this messy chaotic shitshow, but he's actually that kinda guy to begin with, which really just makes this so much cooler imo.
After your first video, I went and binged it. It’s actually really good and funny. I definitely recommend people watching it even if they wanna watch it through Gunnar’s reaction to it first. He cuts out A LOT in his videos, I’m sure for copyright reasons, so it’s definitely worth it to check it out imo. It’s literally like the show “The Office” except instead of a paper company it’s jury duty and there’s 1 person who isn’t an actor. It was brilliant.
It's crazy how they really nailed the Office's charm. Like perfectly. I have to imagine the director or writer or whomever just made the actors watch a lot of The Office and said: "Do this."
I binged it and then I went onto his twitch so I could watch it his full length reactions. He just finished the show there yesterday. Though I imagine those vods will disappear after a while.
I know everything is acting minus Ronald but everything just feels so real and wholesome, its amazing. The friendships and mannerisms they all have with each other is just perfect.
@@baconscoobysnacks3135 I think you are overthinking, is it important that is real or not? I chose to believe the option that makes the show more interesting, it's not like you or I have a way to check if he knows that they are actors
As someone with severe abandonment issues (I’m borderline) this would send me in a downward spiral fast. I hope they did a psych evaluation on him before to make sure he won’t have a bad reaction
They remainded friends with him he still hangs out with James Marsden and stuff. It's one of the things he was adamant on was that they were actually friends and he told the people doing the show that it was important that they didn't just tell him it was all fake and then just dip. Because they all spend do much time with him and they became actual friends.
No actually! They all became friends, despite also acting during the scenes shown on tape. Remember! They were all sharing space (except james marsden) for a long time!
@@wildmoose3979it did actually. He did an interview where he said he was paranoid and had to go through a lot of therapy because he couldn't tell what was real anymore
Okay...? But like what does being a biologist have to do with it? I create games for a living and I think that this is greatly entertaining and fascinating. Your thoughts regarding this show are not unique to biologists. What a weird thing to say.
"Oh boy, I love jury duty." I honestly feel bad. If I was in this group having a great time with a whole bunch of people, just to find out it was all fake and they were messing with me the whole time, Oof.
This is not the first time "Truman Show" has been turned into a real show. But this one is a lot funnier than the "Joe Schmo Show", which was just a bachelor's show.
The psychological effects of this would be...interesting to ask about. It would be interesting to know how Ronald felt finding out that all the people he was getting to know and becoming friends with were essentially fake.
@@IDoABitOfTrollin even still. Your friendship is built on completely fabricated lives and backgrounds. It's like if you married an undercover cop then when their operation was over they just went "lol everything i told you about me was a lie. Let's still be friends tho"
This is such a weird show but I’m here for it 🤣 I love how into their characters they are, and our man is a really nice guy I hope he takes the whole thing in stride with a smile at the end!
I would feel like i was in a fever dream if i was in his shoes. He has to know that something is off, this isnt how a courtroom functions. idk, this whole thing is crazy! Awesome that he is so sweet
I had a theory that the lady made the shirts with the racist word so that she could sell them to the racists but she didn't want people to know so she set the guy up to make it seem like he made the shirts and passed out, that's why the shirts were never thrown out, and why the word was some horribly racist thing. Sadly this was just me looking too deeply into it lol
Definitely an interesting idea, but I feel like her keeping the shirts isn’t really anything suspicious, as she would need proof that the shirts were ruined in order to sue the guy Would be a pretty weak lawsuit if she claimed he ruined thousands of shirts and then couldn’t show any of the shirts
Maybe she ordered them to be printed, but then someone discovered and was gonna leak that she was printing racist shirts, so she had to claim they were misprints, throwing Trevor under the bus and suing him.
Aw, I grew up with a guy like Todd, in both personality and looks. I miss him. Sadly I couldn't find him on fb last time I looked and I hope it's just because I cannot spell his last name correctly. Genuinely got worried and the few classmates I was brave enough to ask, I asked if they heard the worst or if they heard from him at least recently, and I've been met with silence.
gunnar i love this little series even more when your reacting to it... gives me the idea where they should make this into a movie XD this is WHOLESOME!!!
Am I the only one who lost it when James yelped & got startled by a jump scare in the script he was reading?!? Who does that? LMAO I have so much more respect for JM & his improve skills with this show. He was perfect for this! I don't know how much improve acting JM has done prior to this. Although, I am willing to bet that : hanging out with Ben Schwartz probably helped with his long form improve chops. Would love to see James Marsden special guest on a "Middleditch & Schwartz" episode...if they ever shoot more episodes. *cough cough* :)
I did some acting in college and it's the base of being a decent actor. I highly doubt there are many actors out there that haven't done some type of improv classes. Being able to think on your feet, when in front of a crowd, is absolutely paramount. #1 rule in improv, no matter what the other person says, you always say yes. "No's" can halt a scene in an instant. Makes the other person have to come up with something completely different. Just roll with it! Had a lot of fun in those classes.
Gunnar thank you. For whatever reason this isn’t available in Canada no matter what I do so this is literally the only way I’ve found to watch. Thanks man
You are not allowed to bring in outside text, books, newspapers to Jury Duty, even if not sequestered. Once during duty, a nurse brought in Anatomy Flash Cards to study during break time, The Bailiff saw them and reported her. They said because she might learn something medical in nature that she didn't know before that could change how she interprets the evidence and testimony, She was dismissed from Jury Duty and one of the alternates had to take her place. I don't know if she got her $25 for the day. They Definitely would not allow a whole arsed movie script to be brought in and read. Especially since the alternates have to pay attention and behanve just like the jurors , but without a vote, just in case they do become a juror, they are supposed to have all the same info to make their decision. Also, Jurors can turn in other jurors for breaking the rules.
I loved jury duty sm, I had to watch it before I could watch Gunnar watch it, but now it's over and I can finally watch Gunnar react to the stuff I already watched.
Tbh he definitely knows he’s in tv. Whenever you are filmed for tv they make you sign agreements and sometimes the scenes are also filmed multiple times. Especially reality tv
You missed the first video which explains that he thinks this is a documentary about Jury Duty. The first joke is that he applied to a Craigslist ad in order to be in the documentary. Bless him.
gunnar cline: truly a man of the people!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 💪💪💪💪 ty gunn-gunn, i was hoping you'd make another vid about this show bc it's just... so strangely perfect for this kinda content lol
I don't know if they considered the consequences this could have on this guy's mental health. Like uh personally the fact that this is even happening is mind boggling. Can you imagine anyone in the world with Netflix access is now in on a joke that you exclusively are the butt of?
Yesss thanks for making another one!!! I can't watch the series myself and can't find a vpn that actually works so this is the only way for me to watch it
