In this video, we review: "Extended Factions" for TOTAL WAR Saga Troy. This mod adds 16 new playable factions and 202 new custom units to A Total War Saga Troy. That’s right, this mod contains more playable factions than what’s included in the base game with all of the DLCs. It also adds 32 new custom heroes, over 80 new building chains, 16 new epic missions chains along with all new dilemmas, and some other features that enhance the gameplay of Troy like making the AI recruit better armies. I’m stoked to show you all this fantastic mod.

It's great to see Troy still receiving some support, at least from the fans. I'm not the biggest fan of Troy but I enjoyed getting the chance to see Mythos and CA continuing to branch out into more fantastical elements, even if I understand some historical only fans dislike or fears regarding such a thing. The presentation really oozes with love and hard work so it's a shame more people haven't played Troy or will likely never experience it at all.

The only mod I need right now to make Troy perfect is to make all units stop pulling ladders from their pocket, but instead use ropes like Three Kingdoms. Ladders should only be there when you continue sieging the settlement while building it.

HappyCompy is the guy I look to for Total War reviews. I never even thought about playing Troy until just now and I'll be immediately getting this mod. My favourite HappyCompy quote is from the Rome 2 DLC tier list and the Desert Kingdom DLC being "packed with cool shit" 😊😊😊

The King is back! I remember the big criticism I had when I tried it was no Epic mission chains and unit icons that stood out too much. While the unit cards still distinct from vanilla, this video convinced me to update it to give it another shot.

Thanks for feedback. If the last build you have tried was without Epic Missions I can say that quite a lot has changed since then. In short - we now have 9 new playable factions in the campaign (2 new ones should join in ~2 weeks), Epic Missions for all new playable factions, generic missions (like recruit 20 units) for all new factions, big rebalance of all new units, big changes to AI building and recruitment preferences (so it should be fielding better units), Helen's dilemma and more. Unit cards rework is in plans but we haven't reached this point yet. You are not the only one who deem they a little weak.

we need a mod that adds more settlement designs. It feels like there is only 4 or 5 different settlements per level if that - so if all your settlements are at level 3 then odds are most of your settlements are the same as when you played as any of the other factions.

Glad you did a review on this mod, have used it, but do not understand the whole entire mod, so is pretty cool to see what was added. I am a veteran total war player and rts player, i am playing vanilla mythos and i have to say: i think people passed this game too quickly because of epic store, the saga title and being used to make doomstacks... this is problably in my top 5 total war games right now... above attila and above warhammer 1, above rome and bellow shogun 2 and medieval 2

I completely agree, it's so underrated. CA shot themselves in the foot with this title's marketing and with the "Truth Behind The Myth" mode on launch. It really took Mythos for it to cement in my mind as a fantastic title.

That's fair. I wonder if there's a mod that disables them? I still think Truth Behind the Myth was overall a misstep, because it didn't satisfy either of the two main fan bases. It should have at the very least launched with a Historical Mode imo.

Great job on this mod review! Like many others, I only played Troy for a very limited time after getting it free from Epic. All the talk about the upcoming Total War "Pharaoh" and how it compares to "Troy" has renewed my interest in playing "Troy," so I was excited to install this mod to really flesh out this game. After installing this mod I noticed it does not appear compatible with the Radious Troy mod. Game will not run with the Extended Faction mod unless I turn off the Radious mod. Just curious if you or any of your subscribers have run into this problem?

I downloaded the mod, I'm playing it from Epic and it's exactly as described in this video. In my opinion, the only flaw is that the artificial intelligence targets you directly. Trojan or Acean does not matter. They are declaring war on you. I wanted to play as Maneons (I am from Çorum and the capital of the Hittites is here). As far as I know Troy was an insecure Hittite vassal and they never fought a war. However, there are records that the Trojans sent horse-drawn chariots to the Hittites in a war like the Battle of Kadesh. Therefore, as Maneons, I expected good relations with the Trojans. At least they wouldn't send spam hordes to me, I thought. But no. They kept sending spam armies. Normal-I was playing normal. Other than AI issues like this, the mod is really, really good.

Hey I’m super late and I hope this doesn’t get buried but I NEED ANSWERS PLEASE 😅. So anyways I’ve been thinking about getting Troy but I’m weird and typically play The TW’s for custom battles, so I was wanting to know if Troy’s custom battle funds and be edited like in Rome remastered or medieval 2. Plus do the factions added in this mod work in custom battle too? Sorry if you mention that further in the video I’m just before halfway through. Anyways thanks to whoever responds to this!

It certainly looks like what the base game should of been! I know I have mentioned this before in your past videos, but I haven't bought Troy yet because the discounts have never changed. I must say, with this mod it looks like you don't need the mythos DLC but part of me can't give CA a reward and buy this without a discount to both the game and mythos that I consider is fair. Then I'll buy both. Is not exactly the same, but this is like a Rome 2 and Attila situation I just don't want to support it. So... I'll wait for that nevercoming decent discount of Troy + Mythos.

I wholeheartedly recommend waiting for a sale to pick this up. The game is really fun, but it's niche. Mythos is really what carries it for me. I think historical mode is too bland without unit formations or politics or anything. That said, if you can grab everything for $30-40 I'd say it's definitely worth it!

Nice to see you uploading a video, though I do see it not gaining much views. Few care for the game, and fewer still liked it enough to replay (though, to be fair that game died during that year of Epic exclusivity and CA arrogantly thinking that making potential Steam players double dip for the game and the Mythos DLC just poured cement on that grave for good measure). There are mods like this for ToB (though perhaps not as comprehensive) and that game is still just as dead. Though, to be fair to you, with no new historical game to review or talk about video topics are hard to come up with I assume. Still, nice to see you back,

@@happycompy I appreciate you uploading this content. I just started dappling in Troy after owning it for quite sometime (got it on a sale). I’ve actually been enjoying it. I probably wouldn’t know about this mod had I not seen this video. I like to play vanilla first then try mods. The number of supports for this game might not be as high as other titles but there are people who actually enjoy it and play it continuously. I’m happy to see the minority can still get some content directed toward them. So it is nice to have someone spot light passion projects like this. Despite Warhammer 2 being my gateway into the Total War franchise, I have a special love for historic titles. So I’m also eager for a new historical title. Admittedly, I’ve been okay with historical mod in Troy and 3K but I can understand the gripes about those.

I'm now sad that I found out about this mod after I'm 80% done with my menelaus' campaign, having dozens of new units throught call to arms would've been dope since 90% of my allies give generic stuff, specially after agamenon confederated all of the other major factions, the cunt cut off my myrmidon supply.

will say this video made me reinstall troy. not alot of people make me do this to any game and i wasn't to fond of troy when i played it. not sure how long i will keep playing but props to you. also added slower battle mods so we can actually have tactics in our battles. one of the flaws of total war warhammer i think. the battles there are kinda to fast making actual tacics less important. which is such same with such diverse awesome roster

I got Troy for free on Epic Games Launcher, but never played it because that launcher is, in my experience, hot garbage. After seeing this excellent video, I have decided to get the game +DLC on Steam as soon as I can. Which will be a while, because I bought Persona 3, 4, and 5 just recently, and I want to give my wallet a little rest, haha! :D I've missed you! Very glad to see another mod review!

Haven't tested with Agony but I doubt it since it's a startpos mod. It doesn't affect the mortality of heroes at all.

This mod honestly did really make TW troy a lot of fun to play and I'm glad to see that the TW community still pays attention to troy even though it has many flaws. I don't know if you've seen anything about this but another mod that you should look at is the Rome Total War 2 Medieval 1177 AD new crusaders campaign that's coming out! The mod feels like an enhanced version of Medieval 2, and the playable factions feel more diverse. You can play during the events of the movie Kingdom of Heaven as King Baldwin or Salah Aldin. If those don't suit your wants you can also play as factions such as the Roman Empire, Almohad, Banate of Bosnia, the Holy Roman Empire, Kingdom of England, etc. There are 30 unique playable factions, and each faction brings a different challenge to your game play. If interested in the mod I'm pretty sure you have to check out Starsmil for the steam mod but its totally worth as another great mod experience!
