@@abdelrahmanesam6625 Let's see, Aion ironically was a pretty huge blunder. I loved that game but it was a disaster. NCSoft is soley responsible for that. Wildstar was a disaster, City of Heroes was a disaster, Blade and Soul was a disaster, etc. I mean Guild Wars is "successful" sort of. In MMO terms it is, but its definitely had its rough patches. Is Lineage really considered a success? So yeah, NCSoft has had plenty of blunders. Definitely wouldn't trust them, or really any triple A gaming studio/publisher these days.

I played the fuck out of BnS years ago for its PvP dueling which was fun and seemingly a standout amongst other MMOs hence its esports scene. Clearly people are enjoying these games enough to sink money into them and keep the company afloat.

"Duke Nukem Forever is the best example" As yes, use the game that is in the record books as the game that was in development for over 14 years as a reference point What with the whole being delayed, being cancelled on at least 2 occasions, changing hands, changing game engines, staff quitting/moved to other projects and I'm pretty sure they had to rewrite the game once or twice during this as well

DAoC had the best siege mechanics of any game I've played yet. PvP was amazing. Climbing castle walls on my Rogue and PA'ing Archers in the face. Taking relics, hiding out in DF during a faction control change. Man, they really had that shit down for a game that came out so long ago. A well put-together group of 5 could easily take out 20+ people. Balance and class diversity was spot-on. Also the community was pretty solid back then. People would usually try to avoid running a zerg in RvR unless one of the other factions also had a zerg.

BDO has put some standard on my mind since i main Ninja class at the very beginning. And ninja is one of i would say Agility class that could be exist on other MMORPG. And BDO combat just so good and feels seamless and there's also for me really good Ninja / Samurai / Assassin class, and now i always expecting something like BDO's Ninja on others new brand MMORPG which really high standard

BDO combat system is the best Ive ever played despite its balance.However I prefer the pace to be a bit slower not for the sake of player but for the audience, I found that Non-PVPer didnt appriciate watching the fight that much because those who fight are moving so fast using animation cancle so people outside the ring couldn't catch up with. It would be better if people can see how cool you are in the fight hahha

I thought the same regarding lock on abilities that some do. "All ranged attacks should be skill shots manually aimed." Until I played New World. The bow was my favourite weapon in that game but despite that the combat got very tedious. It's like imagine if you had to constantly fight like 500 enemies in dark souls one at a time, but you only have 4 types of attacks for each weapon instead of weapon arts or variety of swings. I ended up logging off many times just because I couldn't bother with fighting more enemies as it was driving me insane.

that was my favorite part of new world, it's what I enjoyed the most in it, so much more engaging than other mmo combat. It did feel a bit tedious for pve, but as a pvp player it felt really fun and skillbased it was everything else in new world that sucked

On a side note did you realize that the contraptions we call ballista and catapults are actually named the opposite? We think of a catapult as an armature that uses weights or tension to throw a large object a distance. But If you break the word Cata- meaning huge, large, gigantic, and Pult- the proper name of a Bow used to fire arrows you get a name meaning “giant bow”… meanwhile ballista is a term that basically means “ball thrower” does what we call a catapult look more like a giant bow or a ball thrower? The confusion comes from a 14th century english translation of a 3rd century manual describing siege equipment used by the greeks and romans that ended up being very popular and some of the drawings and texts from that translation are still used as reference for history books today.

This is partially correct, but it should be noted that what are referred to as ballistae were designed to launch lead balls as often as flighted javelins. The difference between a catapult and ballista is really the projectile it throws, not the mechanism that does the throwing.

You don't need a better graphics card you need a better CPU. MMORPGs are massively CPU bound and the new AMD 5800X3d's are seeing a 40-50% performance gain in MMO's on heavy population areas because of the massive stack V-cache on the chip eliminating a memory bottleneck. The biggest mistake MMO players and competitive FPS players making is thinking their GPU matters when it's the CPU and your system memory clocks and timings holding your fps down.

Practical tests have shown that memory clock speed and timings barely does fuck-all in terms of game performance. In fact, unless you are going to splash extremely hard on memory, in the few hundreds of dollars for a single module, the effective speeds for all modules is roughly the same. Because generally, if the memory clock goes up, so do the timings.

I've just recently had to buy new ram (old stick failed), went from one stick a 16gb 2400MHz@CL16 to two sticks 3200MHz@CL14 and my fps have gone up drastically. I noticed it the most in Overwatch (1), having had a struggling 140fps in fights (rtx 3070; 8700k) to a stable 250+ fps.

I actually like the combat, it looks almost "Real" and not so much insane over the top like most Korean MMORPGs are. I don't want my character doing insane shit, I want real swings from swords/bows with an added magical element. I don't want 3 triple flips in the air before I land a hit.

I mostly agree with the Honeymoon Stage. Or as I will call it, New Game Feeling. That Novel Stimulus. Combine that with Exploration and Easy Early Game Leveling, and it's a lot of fun. Once that Honeymoon period is over, once the grind begins to set in, there's less novel stimulation, etc. is when you find how much fun a game REALLY is! Most ESPECIALLY if there's things like Daily Events that the game encourages you to do like Genshin Impact, that REALLY made the grind that much worse. Since it's practically a necessity as a F2P or low spending player.

I really loved Lost Ark and felt like I was going to be a long term player but something about the camera angle looking down and being unable to look around felt underwhelming especially when being on the boat. BDO felt like heaven to explore the waves and encounter whales and fish. Seeing this game have some boats to potentially explore the ocean the same way and have a strong 8 spell load out really feels great. Day and night cycle is such a missing factor in many mmo's I'm glad on top of everything else, this game also offers such. Another feature I try to look forward to is owning some kind of land or house like in ff14, I want to be able to settle inside and decorate.

17:50 I don't know if it's because the problem was fixed before I started, or if it was only a problem on high end systems & monitors with maxed out settings. But I only lagged I think *twice* in my entire 300 hours of Elden Ring, I started about a week after release and was playing on medium-high settings with a Ryzen 1600, GTX 1060 6GB, 16GB RAM, and NVMe SSD on a 1080p 60hz TV. I thought it was amazing how well it looked and ran on my PC, especially with the draw distance I had.

NCSoft has no conscience. For example, 5,000$ per day for Einhasad exp bonus. Users had to purchase this package to maintain their character's price. Another example, In 2021 refund scandal NC partially refunded as ingame money instead of full refund as real money. A youtuber used 160,000$ but refunded only 50,000$, so he went NC building to protest, and NC prosecuted him.

honestly i can kind of forgive a basic combat system if i have a bunch of traversal options that can work even in combat. like grappling to high places, jumping off cliffs or walls for aerial attacks, transforming or using tools to fly or run across battlefields real fast and maybe throw in some teleport or jumping abilities that can cover a lot of ground. anything to make the game less about face tanking/kiting and just spamming attacks

I will give a quick warning to everyone about NCsoft, once the game starts to lose players or is "dead" they heavily monetize it making it massively p2w, if you need an example look at blade and souls trove and rng boxes. Just be mindful of this.

Looks like less combo oriented bdo. I’m anticipating the first few months to be cool with everyone discovering new stuff, but it dying shortly after. Hopefully there’s no disastrous rng enhancing but it’s Korean so there’ll be a grind somewhere.

I think that more creative spells is necessary in new world. I feel like by level 25-30 you basically have your entire spell or ability list sorted out. It gets far to repetitive.

It's cringe listening to Asmon comment about world bosses being bad "unless instanced" when he's never fought Ixion, Formidable, Archaetonia, Chi, or Daivadipa. Honestly, when he finally stops being pompous about it/believing he's experienced everything there is to experience despite only playing 10-year-old content, finishing FFXIV is going to give this guy an entirely new outlook on MMORPG design. World bosses are fine... you just have to be a competent game designer.

The thing with l2 world bosses is you usually had clan members afk during the spawn timer to spot it before other clans summon ur clan and zerg it down before other clans get there or if you're slow it usually ended up being 2-5 clans declaring war on each other to not get pvp penalties in order to gain control of the boss or agreeing to cycle it between clans

I really really hope they will double down on the fps in those sieges, since they adversite them so hard. On the trailer, it looks like its running on 10fps tops and i bet its even on some super computer. So ye, if they manage to solve some fps drops issue during sieges and dont put any stupid progressive system like bdo has in enhancing, the game is gonna be great.

This really looks like a good mix between Guild Wars 2 & Aion. This game will have epic battles. In Aion you had to grind PvP to get points and be able to transform yourself into an OP character for a short time. Was my best PvP experience I have had in an MMO so far.

There's been next to no information about project TL other than it was originally a lineage successor. Lineage 1 and 2 are both grind MMOs, enhancing was purely RNG, so I don't see why this would kill BDO, if anything it'll be very similar vibes to it. Don't get hyped, we're all just gona be disappointed.

People have no idea how the animation based combat is defining to the soulsbone games, it's literally the big and single pillar that sustains the design of the games as a whole. The combat is the crux of the gameplay and everything converge here one way or the other. Oh well. Talking about this game here, the combat seems like lineage 2 but a bit more dynamic, putting it closer to bdo but not quite there.

The best mass PvP game ever made is Lineage 2. I hate grinding games, but I have played L2 religiously just for the pvp. When the game was subscriprion based it was the best MMO... then p2w, automated fight and broken awakening classes ruined the game :(

Yo. If you can't come close to BDO's combat, you can't say a new mmo will kill it. That is the sole heart of BDO. The combat is literally top tier and nothing really comes close to it in any mmo out.

World Bosses in Lineage were great. Like if you dont have a few good tankers and a good strategy you are gonna get rolled, doesnt matter how many people you will bring. Also in L2 you could as a mage use a sword to cast spells in order to have a better casting speed and lose a bit on M. Attack, things like that, cool they apparently will maintain this aspect.

I play on a Minecraft server that with the years developed to a MMORPG where we find loot on wild and in the center Spawn city twice for week we fight for the castle of the city, and the clan winning can control the city economy for some days till the next battle, this genre of stuff is super addictive and I'm waiting to see an idea like that being developed

Just a warning, Blade and Soul, also produced by NCSoft, was an AMAZING game coming out, but it became this super dead cash grab bull, pay to win non-sense... I think Archage, or whatever else is also produced by NCSoft as well, and that's also a huge cash grab game. So, probably what this is going to turn into. It looks good, but it will most likely just be a soulless cash grab game.
