We have had two dimmer switches go bad on our Alliance Avenue 22ML. The first one, Alliance replaced under warranty. When the 2nd one went bad, I decided to replace them with a better designed and hopefully better quality switch.

Patrick…Good for you. We’ve owned many expensive rvs and they all required self love to repair engineered boo boos. We also had two great independent Rv technicians who kept us on the road. I can fix most of our problems but I learned my lesson…hire a technician when you are in question. Enjoy the new camping season. John Muller

I put Bluetooth dimmers on all of my lights. I can run them from my phone. Set on and off timers as well. I have all interior and exterior lights wired to them. And if you want. They have a panel for inside the trailer. You can turn them on individually. Or in zones. Such an improvement over dimmer switches.

Better setup for the switch. Our Rockwood uses a WeRV panel for all the lights in the RV. So far it's been good but I'm sure it's a mess to replace. Looking forward to the review. We almost bought an Alliance but our stock truck was too tall for the trailer. I wasn't going to lift the trailer to fit the truck. I really hate our dealership. There has been two times we took the trailer for warranty work and it sat for weeks. The last time they unwinterized the trailer and let it sit out in the cold for a week. Called them up to complain and they could care less. Great video!

So far I added 9 dimmers in our Avenue 32RLS 7 of them the recpros. Haven't had an issue with them. First one I installed was about a year and a half ago. I couldn't really tell in the video but it looked like the brown wires were the ones that were not hooked up. They should be for the tank heaters. Keep the great videos coming

The wires that are not hooked up are brown. Thanks for letting me know they are for the tank heaters. Looks like I will need to get that sorted out.

I'm very surprised about this video, I thought much higher about Alliance. I considered two of their models but when I found a wholesale dealer in Ohio I got much more for my money

Give me a good old fashion dimmer switch! With the slider or rheostat! They work every time without problems. You’re dealing with the curse of the engineers! They design these things but never go camping in them to see where their great ideas don’t work!! I suspect the extra wiring might be for options that you didn’t get but the wiring is there if you ever need to add.
@dondav1348

Ours have been working so far but I liked the dimmer with the rocker switch much better. Plus for the other issue I’d resubmit that claim with Alliance after it’s repaired with video because that system under the slide looks like a hot mess. Also, have you ever set up an appointment at the factory for service? We were in and out in under a week.

Did you notice that your slide seal was crimped @6:37. I would hate for water to get in there and rot out your floor.

Your welcome. Sometimes the wiper seal doesn't get completely flipped around when extending the slide. Just make sure to check them after putting the slide out, that way no water can get in. Safe travels, I always enjoy your videos. @@TravelswithDelaney

So different but similar situation. I had 3 non-dimmable switches I wanted to dim. I looked at the touch dim switches and figured they were too easy to break. For my bedroom and bathroom i had only single gang switches so I picked the dimmer with the larger slider to the side. The problem I ran into is that the manufacturer put the switches and wiring right alongside studs but the opening for the wires was always half over the stud and half the empty opening so my dimmers, if i cut them in the covers wouldn't cover the hole properly. Fortunately one of my hobbies is 3D printing so I designed a surface mounting bezel that allowed me to cover the opening and hide the stud. It skirted out just enough to hide everything. My third switch was a 3 gang switch, so not only the cabin lights but the entry light and the outside awning light. That is where I bought the same dimmers you bought but i also bought a 3 gang rocker switch on a hunch that i could swap out the end switch and snap in the dimmer. Turns out that yes, on the end right switch you can swap out the non-dimming switch with a dimming switch and with a dremel tool, a very careful cut in the bezel for the dimmer slider. You almost can't tell it didn't come that way on mine. But again i had to design a bezel to flush mount the switches. I didn't want to cut the huge hole in the cabinet end to make it all fit. Your answer was certainly a great decision. I just went a different way because I had a different tool in my bag of tricks. And every time I use the 3D printer to create a solution, it justifies its space in my house. Great job on your install Patrick!

That wiring on slide should run inside the slide so not exposed to weather. Like the Lance was. Shouldn't have issues with swiches on a less than 1 year old rig. My lance has had no issues in almost 8 years. Just routine maintenance. Safe travels.

That is sad to hear. Sometimes I get the urge to trade in my Lance 1685, but then I hear comments on how poorly constructed the new trailers are. I guess I'll just keep what I have for the time being.

Thanks for sharing the replacement, our Lance only has the one dimmer over the dinette. Crystal says she doesn’t need one though, so I’m glad I don’t have to make the change. When it comes to electrical work, I’m a little “dimmer” than the next guy!

Dang Patrick, As I saw staple type fasteners holding your cabinet door together and the thin wall panels that appear to be made of compressed paper, would not give me a high degree of confidence with the rest of the trailer. Sorry, not being critical of you, just some RV manufacturers.

So much for all the Alliance hype. Their just as bad as the rest of the Elkhart gang. I've come to the conclusion that when shopping for an RV, find the floorplan that works best and then find that floorplan in the Thor, Forest River, GD, Alliance lines and then buy from the corresponding dealer that gives you the best deal. There all built the same crappy way and one isn't any better then the other. So buy the one that saves the most money.
