That may end up happening yet . I can't see it being emotionally good for a horse always having people surrounding it and petting it . These Guards deserve all the credit in the world for putting up with all this intrusion all the time !
I was with a tour group where the guide said stand close up for a good shot. If you are lucky you can have a shot taken holding the reins. Just because you didn't hear it that time doesn't mean the tourist guides don't instigate. Don't ask me why...
😡😡🤬🤬Arrogance and disrespect to do all they did. If that tour guide is telling them to grab the reins he needs to be removed. I know these people are not stupid just culturally challenged.
How bloody thick was the woman in the maroon coat? Every time she grabbed the rein, even though it was obvious she wasn't supposed to because the guard kept moving it out of her way. I was once in China and was threatened with arrest because I walked into Tiannanmen Square when it was closed, which I didn't know. No wonder people from the orient make such a fuss over our guards and horses, they obviously can't get anywhere near their own.
Many of these tourists really need to understand that here in the UK we do NOT maul the Guards horses, and it is not acceptable to start touching ANY part of the Guards! These Guards are on duty! I do know that in their own countries, it would certainly NOT be recommended to treat the soldiers in any but the most humble manner! If tour guides decide to misinform tourists as to the acceptable manner, then they should certainly be either publicly "dressed down" of love all privileges!
When they come to USA these tourist do exact same thing.. I guess they think I paid this money I'll do as I please🙄🤬 I get really upset when I see them in Yellowstone Natl Park and they chase bison elk or bears then when they're mauled they still don't understand why! And when they go off the boardwalks they're destroying the eco system
Typo “love” should be “lose”. I completely agree with you. I would like to organize the whole tourist process - it’s much too casual. No wonder the visitors don’t treat it seriously. The scenario should be set up to command respect. Rules should be made absolutely clear in advance and enforced.
I am only amazed that the poor horses cope as well as they do, all those hands grabbing at them, day in, day out, so few show them and their riders any sort of respect!
They have seen horses before, usually on a dinner plate. That is NOT being racist, stating fact. America sends thousands of horses every year to Japan for human consumption.
Most of the planet runs on cars now... horses at racetracks are very protected and private stables are few & far between. Those who live & work with horses are not always wealthy enough to travel as tourists. These people are the 'rich' ones who get away from home and don't have to step around horse droppings at home, so NO, they have no damn idea and THEY CAN'T READ THE SIGNS SAYING 'DON'T TOUCH THE REINS'. The Horse Guards need to post multilingual signage.
I've run into these same type of people where ever I have gone. They invade your personnel space, cut in front of you, and take every sample. I'm sure they read English better than me yet they do what ever they please. I just stand there and look ...amazing...oblivious to their rudeness
They know exactly what they are doing, and if the guard says nothing then they have free reign (pardon the pun). The old lady in the maroon puffer coat went back how many times and reached for the reigns? Then the others were encouraged to touch the stirrups, the guards coat and other liberties.....they could not do that in their own countries. What the hell!
They're being told by their tour guide to touch the reigns. You can see the confusion on their faces. He must want them them to have the "Don't touch the reigns!!" shout experience...thinking it's something fun. The guard NOT shouting out foils this. ..hence they kept trying to touch the reigns. I'd say this tour guide needs to loose his privileges.
In another video, because touching of the reigns didn't work, they were re-directed to go back and touch the rider's foot. Again, the rider did not react and they did not get their "thrill". So, it's still a game of "Dare".
There is no alternative now,is there? The Guards and the horses need to be totally out of bounds. I know they can't seal off the pavement but there could be lines drawn on the pavement and hourists could be forbidden to enter that area. The Guards outside Buckingham Palace had to be moved into the area behind the fence because the tourists were being too bothersome. It's time we defended our Guards and their mounts from tourists and the devious, unscrupulous guides.
@@patmorrell5963 crikey, I’d forgotten about that! Hardly surprising when according to Google (who I don’t have any confidence in!) that was in 1959, I was four years old then!!
There should be a painted line a metre from the horse in an arc from each pillar of the guard house. No entry into this space. You don’t NEED to touch the horse to get a good picture.
Yes, a painted line and armed police telling them to stay behind the line until it begins to take hold with people, Although, they can't even grasp the court yard lines for that matter. 🤨🤔
no.. too dangerous to the rider and horse.. there is much to spook a horse n that location.. and theyneed to be able to move about a little freely.. putting a barrier in front would mean danger. PLUS the pavement is a historic public thoroughway.. it cannot be reduced just like that. In addition, it would reduce the space for legitimate pedestrians making them be in danger of passing traffic. trhis won;t happen.
What I was trying to say is there should be some type of barrier between horses and gaurd ..look at the conspicuous and look at some days there is accidents that happen and you get so stupid people like I seen in them videos
You're correct! Absolutely disgusting Abdullah! 13:13 was the absolute most cringe thing that I've seen! She's got her hand under his clothing!! So many disrespectful and ignorant people! They look like rats scurrying to get on a piece of driftwood during a flood! The same people keep going up over and over, pushing their fellow travelers out of the way, grabbing the reins over and over, touching the guard and his boot, etc...! This happens because there are no boundaries set on what they can do to these horses, and even to the guards at times. It will only get worse unfortunately! I really wish it would have been one of the vocal guards that they messed with!
They certainly do make my blood boil! The lady in the beret who quickly realised she wasn't supposed to touch the reins, decided to touch the guard's stirrup and then stuck her hand under his coat instead for Heaven's sake. I really don't believe that not speaking English is any sort of excuse for invading another person's personal space to this extent! I don't imagine the woman in the maroon coat would offer her hand to shake one of her own country's soldiers. It's time the British Tourist Board altered their advertisments in foreign countries to include a notice that members of this country's armed forces are not photographers props, and deserve to be treated with respect. 🤬
@@christophermichaelclarence6003 • As I pointed out in my comment, the language barrier is no excuse for the appalling invasion of the Guards' personal space. I can't think of any culture on the planet that thinks it's okay to walk up to a complete stranger and touch them or their clothes.
I especially dislike when people are posing for a picture and some peabrain decides they have to pet the horse right then and step in front them! Also, how long does it take to take a picture????
To be fair, said idiot lady wasn't looking where her hand was, so I don't think that was a deliberate move on her part. But it's interesting that the lady before her had made a grab for the reins as well. The lady in the beret seemed to be aware where her hand was. The boxman didn't seem to be aware of it because I am sure he would have warned her off.
It was almost 20 years ago when my family was in London for the 1st time. I was thrilled that we could even come within 10 feet of the guards and their horses! We did get a picture of our 7 year old granddaughter near the horse guardsmen and his horse. BUT...we told had her stand at least 6 feet away and warned her at that time that the horse could kick or bite. I hope the guard knew we were making a effort to respect his duty. Our own son was in the U.S. Navy then and we would never have thought it okay to touch a serviceman's uniform on guard duty. I agree with all of the people that think there should be more barriers between these tourists and the guards.
Guard should have backed the horse up enough so they couldn't touch it!! Or charged at them with the horse, this behavior SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED BY THE TOURISTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! ZERO TOLERANCE!! If they are on guard and there was an emergency, then what, if the horse and guard are surrounded by morons?
Sorry, Mary, they aren’t allowed to back the horses up, the guard has to be on a level with front of the box, at least that is my understanding, but I agree with you! Happy New Year,
I have seen them back the horse up, and those idiots just go INTO THE BOX AFTER THEM! Can you believe it?! That would be the time to charge them with the horse and shout get out of the box! STOP TOUCHING THE HORSE, STOP TOUCHING THE REIGNS!!
Anyone could have a substance in their hands to poison the horses… there should be an outright ban on all of this touching malarkey. Keep barriers up at all times. Not one person asked for permission to take a photograph or said thank you after. They’d soon sue if the horses bit someone. It’s not a tourist attraction people, they are there to protect our country… back off!!
The King's Life Guard is conducted by soldiers of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment at Horse Guards. Horse Guards is named after the troops who have mounted The King's Life Guard here since the Restoration of King Charles II in 1660. The ceremony has remained mostly unchanged for over 350 years.
People should be strongly Advised to learn meaning of the Sign. Tour Companies should be More Helpful, because these problems are Avoidable !!!! 🇬🇧🤨🙄 🐎✋️
King Charles III Reigns over the Horse Guards and U.K. Please Do Not Touch the Horses Reins the Guard controls the horse. Sad. The Tour Guide needs to be sanctioned and lose their ability to Guide.
They certainly don’t care. Do they at least have a little respect and let the soldiers speak to the other soldier without rushing in and wanting to touch him and have your picture taken with the horse. I understand it’s a big thrill for foreigners to get the pictures taken someplace like all of us. but let the people do the job and give them a little space stop crowding don’t touch the reins. Don’t touch the soldiers uniform, or even the soldier one of these days that soldier, or any of the soldiers can make a turn and someone can get cut with those blades and it’s not their fault it’s the tourist fault for being so close
I have come to the conclusion that folks from The Orient have no concept of personal space. I think anything the guard did would have had no effect on this lot at all. Nice catch though it is very irritating.
What annoys me is the people who are obviously afraid of horse but flap their hands and act like "ooh he tried to get me'.when there is the slightest movement 😠
What is the elder woman's issue? She was even told in her own language not to touch the reins. Sad. Makes me wonder if she is maybe borderline for dementia. She looked so happy, though.
Just saw a RU-vid channel, she said, in Japan, they have shutdown the Geisha area bc of tourists wanting to touch Geisha gowns. Watching these videos I believe it will be happening here very soon. Such ignorant people.
I feel so sorry for these horses & their riders...so many tourists are so ignorant...getting so close, actually touching their bodies against these horses...give the horse & rider space...it isn't necessary to touch the horses or get so close. I wish they would discontinue allowing people to pose for pictures like this. It's so unfair, because people are idiots!!!
I feel sorry for the horses and gaurds specially in the heat when the nearly pass out with that heavey armer there wearing..i seen a video were the army came out to give the horse water
There is a sodding great notice warning people NOT to touch the reins. However, over the past year or two the intrusion and appalling behaviors by the public and tourists has become rude to the point of dangerous. The public need to be behind barriers.
Don’t touch the reins (two times out of three pics?!); don’t touch the guards; don’t touch the horse; don’t talk so loud; keep the hands inside you pockets; don’t travel to London = STAY HOME!😠
These soldiers are not a tourist attraction, they are doing a job,and these ignorant people should not be allowed to get within touching distance of the horse or soldier.
What is it with these people?? They stand there (especially the women), like big goons, and laugh while the horse bites them, or gives them a handful of saliva. Just hysterical.
TOUR GUIDES YOUR NOT INFORMING THE TOURISTS WHAT THEY CAN DO….😮 MY GOD SUCH DISRESPECT TO OUR KINGS GUARDS..ABSOLUTELY APPALLING BEHAVIOUR NO RESPECT ….
The horse may be in pain, he/she continues to lift the back leg, I don’t know how they’re not noticing that, or it’s getting ready to kick the derrière of someone anyone🐎
