He’s basically the Hbox of Ultimate. A player who has a fighting style, where some or most players, despise. Sonix picks his spots, mastered his play style, and is winning. I can’t knock him for that.
I used to absolutely hate sonix during the wifi only era. It’s died down since then and it’s definitely more of a character hate than anything. However your statement is actual facts therefore I only hate Sonic as a character in this game now lol
I mean, he isn't playing ryu, doc, chrom or any other character with bad recovery, going off stage and gimp people is really easy and safe for sonic because of his aerials's priority, long lasting hitboxes and really hight vertical recovery

@@noirlavender6409 Nah in this game people rarely go off stage as much as they should. I get it, missing your edge gaurd is one thing but getting reversed on is probably soul crushing. Still, people play it safe no matter who they play
I give him so much respect for mentally dealing with the very vocal toxic and disgusting childish behavior of many people in the community as well. I didn't care who won between him and Riddles because I like them both but it felt so satisfying watching silence all of his doubters in this tournament. His aggressive play and edge guarding was incredible for the large majority of time that he used it.
I somewhat despise Sonic and Sonix' playstyle, but he really showed up this tournament. Genuinely impressive stuff from him; I'm excited to see how he holds up against more top players.
it can be frustrating to watch at times but it's just pick your spots smartly. boyo plays very smart, taking less risks, but as this video shows, mans edgeguards like a king.
His punish game is ridiculous, which is why his slower playstyle works. No point in playing defensively if you cant capitilize big time on any openings. He's really optimized Sonic's combos
Good mentality and clutch player. I assume I fall into the majority when I say that watching players have to chase him down for chunks at a time isn't that fun to watch. The way Sonic can run at or away from you so fast makes many of the interactions less interesting.
The fans booing Sonix were very disrespectful and insulting his girlfriend was honestly disgusting behavior. I give Sonix so much respect for having the mental fortitude to deal with such a toxic crowd and smash community in general. I'm not saying everyone is toxic in this community but the ones who are tend to make their voices the loudest which makes the community as a whole look very childish, unprofessional and not inviting to new players. These toxic members of this community need to grow the hell up and realize that they are just watching people play a freaking video game. Professional players are human beings with emotions just like anyone else. A large vocal portion of the community treats them like objects for entertainment with no emotions. Allowing this vocal portion of the community to act like complete children with no consideration for players feelings needs to stop. We should try and set a higher standard like many other professional esports have and not allow this type of childish disgusting behavior. That way the competitive community and game as a whole can grow from this so players can get paid more and new players can get invested in the game. This community needs start prioritizing acting like more professional and considerate people first while watching a professional esport.
It’s sad that Sonix’s performances aren’t as recognized compared to Leo’s or Zackray’s losers runs just cause of Sonic’s visual clarity and overall boring design to viewers
I haven't really got much to say tbh. I feel more excited playing rather than watching, but I guess these people know what they are doing and it's nice to hear and see what they do so that I can tell how to beat their characters.
I live Sonix. I find defensive play to be a good sign of a solid player. If you have weak defense you'll never be good, timeouts are fun because you can genuinely reverse it within a few seconds.
When the Majors have Americans or Japanese people prolly. Europe's problem is it's never too notable. It's usually like 4 to 7 people. Gluto, Peli, Sisqui, R and QuiK really. Tye outside world doesn't really care about Europe unles sthey have a long legacy like Quik and R or have beaten Gluto, some are known purely for skill like Sisqui tho. I wish Europe was more popular but it's an overlooked region. Prolly COVID's fault

It’s literally a super major that’s way more stacked than goml. Any major with Leo is just enough to get information about other players that do well in the tournament. Just look at e-caribana and 95 king of fields 2 results.

I honestly dont know why we are soyfacing over edguarding some of the easiest characters to edgeguard. Sonix is an incredible player with an iron mentality, but his wins are primarily based on his ability to play lame.
I pretty much accept all play styles though; they're a part of each character, and good players need to improve against them. May or may not be entertaining to be a part of or watch, but competitively it should be fine. I'm surprised there were only 30 dislikes here though, considering the comments.

Cool. But sonic is a lame character that will hurt viewership of the game. Sorry but no one wants to watch 10 games and each game lasting 7-8 minutes. But with that being said don't "boo" players. Them abusing a game mechanic and doing well isn't there fault its the fault of bad character design. But it is a little ironic one of the fastest characters in the game is the most campy and lame to watch.

I wouldn’t say that it is ironic, more so expected imo. Being fast in Smash tends to make you really good at Whiff punishing and camping. For example, Melee Fox got a lot of large stages banned in Melee’s early days because of he could run away and not interact with slower chars
Are you kidding did you not even hear when the video explained most of his games where under four minutes. For the vast majority he was playing an aggressive style with incredible edge guarding and taking stocks very early. Also that grand finals was amazing and my heart was freaking pounding throughout that set. There is no actual evidence that sonic is bad for viewership and in-fact viewership went up throughout grand finals. People are so god dam ignorant with this mindset and only believe what others believe like sheep.

if you can't at least respect the high level play that sonix and Jake show then you are definitely bad at the game and don't deserve to decide what is "killing the game"
