I'm actually glad that the cop first checked if she was diabetic. Since a diabetic with dangerously low blood sugar looks a lot like a highly drunk person. Looking like they could barely stay awake, slurring their words, unsure where they are, who they are, etc.
For real! I'm a t1d and when my blood sugar was at my personal lowest (about 25 mg/dL or ~1.3 mmol/L?) I dont even have any memories of it, even though the people around me said I was technically conscious, trying to talk to them. Super scary and hard to tell the difference if you don't know about it!
@@theotherauthor740 plus blood sugar is difficult to keep steady, especially for younger people and those who can't afford the fancier tech. Low blood sugars can hit you out of nowhere! Its why I have a whole pack of juice boxes in my car lol
Which is why diabetics shouldn't be allowed to drive. Too many incidents of them causing accidents or becoming stranded with children in the car because their sugar is too low. If you have an illness where if you miss your medicine or didn't time your snacks right while taking it, and the end result is extremely physical/cognitive impairment then you needn't ever be operating a motor vehicle. For everyone's saftey.
as a type 1 diabetic, i’m always worried if my blood sugar goes dangerously low people, especially cops, will just assume i’m drunk. that was so refreshing to hear the cop posed diabetes as a possibility makes me feel like if that does (god forbid) happen to me i’ll be a little bit safer and understood. EDIT- this comment caused a great deal of uproar in the comment section and what feels like a lot of accusations of lying about my condition. i didn’t volunteer every ounce of info about myself, and people are more nuanced than their youtube comments make them out to be.
couldn’t you just get a sticker for your car like how people put baby on board stickers so if there’s a crash people will check for babies? put a diabetic sign so they know to check
Same. I've gotten to the point where i was hysterically crying, couldn't understand how to open a bottle of juice, and found it difficult to sit upright. So yeahhh, i would have looked completely wasted.
I think it's safe to say that if you were that far gone and they did ask you wouldn't exactly be giving clear and concise instructions on what to do. It is scary to imagine your diabetes getting you in that state because that probably means you're living your last moments on earth. The police can't help. If they somehow figured it out and called an ambulance, it's pretty unlikely they could help. I guess it depends on how severe and how long one has been in that condition. But she was out cold for nearly ten minutes before they got her to open that door. Ten minutes of being unconscious from a blood sugar crash and what are the chances of someone figuring it out and figuring out the right dose of insulin for you? An incorrect dose can do more harm than help. You might wake up in a condition you would rather have never woken up from. And it is not limited to type 1 diabetes, not by a long shot. Type 2 is just as dangerous, and someone that's just medium hypoglycemic and doesn't really understand is in more danger than both.
As a wife of a diabetic, I am so thankful that cops are informed. It's comforting to know that he may actually be treated as a person with a disease and not a drunk.
I mean if the symptoms of low blood sugar for a diabetic are similar to the symptoms of a drunk person, wouldn't a diabetic off their insulin be just as dangerous and irresponsible behind the wheel as a drunk driver? It's not the alcohol. It's the impairment that's the issue.
@pickledparsleyparty that's not why it's good they asked, if a diabetic person needs insulin and they don't get it they can die so asking is for the safety of them on top of the whole road driving thing
My daughter was taken from us by a drunk driver 8 years ago. She was just 24 years old. The driver actually mounted the pavement and hit her and another pedestrian. The other person survived, but with serious injuries. There is, as Moist said, no reason to ever drive drunk, especially these days. There should also be nothing even resembling leniency for drunk drivers, no matter how much or how little damage they cause.
Most drunk drivers actually don’t kill anyone basically like sober drivers I’m more afraid of old people since in my experience they are the ones who did the killing
Hard to know if this ridiculous answer is better or worse than telling the truth in this scenario . Probably better because she’s not admitting culpability
Fun fact, if you wanna find out if someone’s blackout drunk, just ask them the same question multiple times, and if they keep answering it like it’s the first time you asked, they’re black out.
I'm honestly both appalled that she made a decision to get behind a wheel being that drunk and that somebody let her. I couldn't imagine seeing someone that drunk and not tackling them if I saw them getting behind a wheel. Like random strangers aren't the responsibility of other random strangers, but I wouldn't be able to look at myself if I didn't stop someone who was clearly hammered from getting behind a wheel and something happened because of it, whether that's them harming themselves or someone else.

She’s that *special* kind of intoxicated where you could literally just trick her into cuffs by telling her you have some bracelets you want her to try on. 💀
yeah, as a veteran substance abuser who has tried essentially every even slightly well-known drug and a bunch of others, I can tell you that this is almost certainly not just alcohol, like she seems to be straight up hallucinating to a degree beyond what is normal even for extreme drunkenness, and forming completely incoherent, dream logic-like sentences. If I had to guess, I'd say maybe zolpidem (Ambien), which means that this is actually theoretically something that could've occurred due to her taking a sleeping pill as directed and having this reaction (lots of people using Ambien to sleep and ending up driving without meaning to under its influence), although people also do sometimes take it recreationally as well. Given that she got in trouble for it, I doubt she was just using an Ambien prescription as directed, though, as usually they'll go easy on people who do that.
Same here... sober now... she's definitely not just drunk... benzos (Klonopin.. Ativan.. Xanax) mixed with booze also can make you say stupid things.. pregabalin (Lyrica) and booze can also make a person have a full blown loud conversation with yourself for a solid hour scaring everyone around you...

The officers were very smart to block her in with their squad cars BEFORE waking her up. It is very common for passed out drunk drivers to try and drive off because they get very startled.
I had a brother killed by a drunk driver back in the 70’s. I really appreciate you having a hard stance against it. You have a young audience and many kids look up to you. It makes me happy you have good strong morals you take an effort to teach.
My aunt lost her life in a drunk driving accident, she was pretty much decapitated, drunk person survived unscathed. Probably one of the most selfish acts someone can commit, and getting older you realize just how common it actually is, how some people do it like it’s nothing and have BEEN doing it, they just haven’t been caught
She probably downed multiple drinks quickly, just before getting into the car. Then, some minutes later, it kicks in big time. I made this mistake when I was younger (minus the driving ofcourse). Was at a party when we suddenly decided to go somewhere else, so I quickly finished my drink and had to just get another one "for the road" and downed it too. Both drinks within a minute or something like that. Well, I didn't make it to "somewhere else" but ended up falling asleep on someones stairs a few minutes walk from the bar. I'm glad I'm not that stupid anymore.
"I've had three o'clock to drink tonight..." The scariest part is, she managed to stay in the lane and keep the car stopped at the intersection. This clearly is far from her first time operating a motor vehicle while absolutely blitzed out of her gourd.
@@firstlegend5105 it's an assumption for sure but a much smaller leap than you seem to think. Most people build up to large offenses. People who let themselves drive drunk are also people who let themselves drive buzzed. You're more likely to slip over the line than sail right past it. That is to say they probably drove on a beer or maybe two. Then some night they had three or four and 'really' had to get home so they pushed their moral 'line in the sand' a little further. Now tonight they had 7 and that's only like two more than last time... Does it really sound more likely that she's never driven even buzzed before this? She's got practice, almost for certain.

You should check out the case of Katy Palmer and her husband John who were struck by a drunk driver. Katy was killed and John was paralyzed initially. This man that hit them had multiple DUI's, had a suspended license, evading arrest, reckless driving, and got in no trouble for killing a women. They weren't even walking on his side of the road. He was going well over the speed limit and there was no attempt to stop. He got nothing for this. Not the only story I've heard like this and it makes me sick that someone can just get away with that.
I lost one of my best friends to drunk driving, his family tried to cover it up but it was way too obvious a lie, he had a history of drinking so it wasn't a shocker but still didn't like how they lied about it as this is a teachable moment that could save someone else. This was back in 2005, we had just graduated high school and 4 months later he was out drinking with his girlfriend and a few friends, took them all home and thankfully he managed to get them all home safely but on his way back he lost controll and hit a tree so hard he snapped his neck. Drunk driving is stupid, I lost a good friend that day and yes it was his fault, I had his toxicology report pulled and no surprise to me he was way over the limit. In 2 years it will be 20 years ago since his death, I still miss him, wish he could of met my other best friends who are now my brothers. Call a uber, lift, stranger on craigslist, a friend or family member, again drunk driving there is no excuse.
Sadly some are just self thought. Personally believe they should all take classes and be tested if they are morally able to stay as a cop and learn more about other situations.
I had a cousin who was killed by a drunk driver only a few days before Christmas. He was 26, engaged, and coming back from buying presents when he was hit. This was over 15 years ago and my aunt still hasn’t fully recovered. Don’t drink and drive. It endangers yourself and everyone else on the road. What you think is a harmless decision can change someone’s life forever. Edit: Thank you all so much for the kind words and sharing of stories! It pains me that so many people have been affected by such a stupid decision; drunk driving is an absolutely horrendous act and I wish everyone affected by it peace and healing❤️
My middle name is from one of my mother's best friends who was killed by a drunk driver. PSA: just take an Uber or crash on somebody's couch or just find a place to lay down. It's not worth risking your life or anyone else's just because drunk you thinks it's a good idea to drive home.
Hey man, I'm so sorry for your loss. I HATE drunk drivers, me and my family got hit driving home one night and my mom ended up needing several surgeries for her shoulder. One of us could have easily died that night. Hope you're doing well and taking care of yourself.
Word. Sending my condolences. I also lost a sibling, we weren’t blood but I knew him since he was 3. He’d just turn 16 and got his permit, just to have his life ripped away by a drunk driver who was driving a semi-truck, truck came barreling down the wrong side of the road killing 4, including my brother. it’s crazy.
I'm 22 and still struggling with alcoholism since I started heavily drinking at 16, and not once have I ever drove drunk. I don't care about myself but I don't want to endanger my friends or others. It's undoubtedly a choice you make
My husband's friends died in a DUI. All of them, just gone. It makes me so mad to see how people don't mind to endanger others for their own convenience. And look at her! She's so far gone, it's a miracle she didn't hurt anyone.
@Lol okay imo it's not about driving after drinking, it's more about drinking when you know you're with a car. Yes, a hammered person has no concept of consequences and rationality but she consciously took the decision to consume alcohol without at least insuring safe transport before that

I'm so sorry. When I was 10, my dad was in a drunk driving accident where his best friend died, and my dad was in a coma for months and barely survived. My sociopath aunt actually told me he wasn't going to make it and I had to live with that for months, so I can genuinely empathize. They never found out who was driving as they both were ejected, but my dad refused to ever drive again. He accepted responsibility and spent the most important years of my childhood in prison. I still can't imagine losing him that early. He ended up passing away from cancer when I was in my early 20s. I hope you've found healthy ways to process that all. It took me a long time to understand the ways all of that affected me negatively. Ways that I didn't realize at all. I sought out therapy for different reasons and that ended up helping a lot, so I genuinely recommend that. One of the best decisions of my life, honestly. You don't even realize where those things manifest themselves until you really dig deep.
As a car guy and someone who's raced cars competitively wheel-to-wheel with the SCCA, I know better than most just how dangerous it is driving on public roads where you can never be truly certain the people around you are rational, sober, well-rested, and paying attention. I had to report a driver yesterday evening for not being in full control of their vehicle and witnessing that level of sheer incompetence and disrespect for the safety of others is ludicrously infuriating.
I think I understand her anyway. she was trying to add up how much she would usually drink by 3am, just a guess. but she's so screwed up we get this legendary quote
it gives me the same vibes of "im not fucking drunk, can you tell the time, im not fucking drunk" kinda hard to explain in text, but if you know you know
All things considered, she’s extremely lucky. She didn’t hurt anyone and no one hit her. Those officers saved her life and the lives of anyone in her path that night.
There is another video that shows her at the hospital that night for a blood draw and she claimed paralysis and they called EMS to take her to the jail while running her mouth. She was also on Tik Tok threatening neighbors and a judge as well. Never seen her videos but saw body cam footage of her on another video.
Drink driving is no joke. I've known people who've had very close people taken away from them because some driver was just incapable of being a decent human. RIP to all the beautiful people who've lost their lives to such horrid actions.
The way Charlie segues into "...found my brother lying in a pool of his own vomit - as you know, he struggles with alcoholism," without skipping a beat or changing his tone at all, is honestly impressive.
I drove drunk once in my life. It was so long ago your parents probably hadn't even met yet. Nothing happened, no one was injured, I wasn't stopped. Still I regard this as the worst decision in my life, a long life, with its share of stupid decisions.
My heart breaks for her child. It's difficult to imagine having a mother who can be this irresponsible by driving while being drunk. This is why you need to heal before you start having children.
You’re aware there a lot of people who aren’t addicts prior to having kids, then develop an addiction later on, be it drugs, alcohol, pills etc. by no means am I blaming the kids, I am saying that people can develop an addiction at any point in life. While I agree, Good luck telling an addict they can’t or shouldn’t have kids. You’ll just push them more over the edge
I struggled with alcoholism for a long time, ended up going through severe withdrawals that hospitalized me for 3 days where i couldn’t even walk due to the tremors. Despite how much my life was ruined by the substance I never drove intoxicated. Even when I was downing a whole bottle of whiskey every day I never got behind the wheel. There really is zero excuse for it I promise. Also been sober almost a year and have zero plans to ever let that toxic shit back into my life.
I love how much Charlie talks about how terrible drunk driving is. It’s such a refresher to see people genuinely caring about others and despising those who don’t
As a person with hypoglycemia, I appreciate the cop asking if she's diabetic. I have sounded/appeared completely "hammered" when my sugar gets too low. Slurred speech, off balance, confused, eyes rolling etc. I also have seizure disorder and ptsd. Both of which can make me seem under the influence to the untrained eye. Education is key ! 💪
I recently lost a friend who was drunk driving, and where I was sad, I also lost all respect, I saw people saying I was insane for losing all respect for him, Im glad to see that there are others who losr respect and any care for drunk drivers.
Absolutely. No one actually ruins their career anymore lol They just move on to another group that publicly accepts them. Kanye is a perfect example. The rap world and fashion world realized he is just a Nazi and a mentally insane individual and the conservatives took him in instantly, which usually is the case.
I TOTALLY agree with you bro. This topic irks me as well. Uber, Lyft, taxis, friends, family, walking home…ALL are options instead of driving home while you are wasted. All are 100x cheaper than getting a DWI and the costs that come with it. It’s insane to me that anyone would ever even consider driving drunk. DONT DO IT. IF caught, your life is impacted forever. IF you are lucky enough to get home and not hurt anyone, then woohoo, don’t ever try it again. Most aren’t that lucky, they either get pulled over or they cause an accident, that’s where the real horror comes in. All extremely preventable. Make the smart choice, pay $30 to get home, not $10,000 for criminal charges.
The reason they blocked her in and didn't wake her up right away was not because she might run, she had her foot on the brake so if they woke her up, her foot would come off the brake and she would drive into the intersection while not in control. This exact thing did happen and she hit the cop car in front of her.
I saw this yesterday. Her entitlement and blatant disrespect towards the officers is repulsive. Her having no regard for her or anyone else’s safety is just a shame. She failed as an adult.
this is why the drunk driving "jokes" on tik tok are so annoying. the way people are actually serious about loving to drive intoxicated is insanely dangerous and is the rare occasion when jokes like this piss me off.
She's from here in Michigan, what makes things worse than losing her streaming career is she lost her license. In Michigan, if you refuse to take either a breathalizer, or a blood draw test, you immediately lose your drivers license. When you go in front of the judge they will set how long that will be, but I think the lowest is one year.
If it’s her first DUI the highest would be 1 year probation 6 month minimum. $2000 is the max fees too I believe. On top of mandatory alcohol assessments and AA. I live in Michigan aswell and where I’m at nearly everyone I know drives home from the bar.
There's something similar here in Indiana. Basically when you sign for your license (in the terms that no one reads) you actually agree to always do a breathalyzer and/or blood alcohol testing at the request of an officer. So refusing the test can actually get you in some hot water. From what I've heard few officers here will actually use that against you unless you are way zonked like this girl is. They'll usually just take the DUI and suspend the license for a year or two. Now I have never had a DUI let alone been pulled over. But this is what I have heard from officers in my hometown and seen via the news and whatnot EDIT: This is known as Implied Consent Laws in Indiana
Couldn't agree more. My best friend's mom (my "2nd mom") was killed by a intoxicated driver. She was my best friend's only parent and it had been just the two of them for so long. It was so heartbreaking. She taught Special Education her entire adult life and was also a fluent ASL translator who helped all deaf students in the area (both in and outside of the school she taught at). Thanks to her, we had kids who were deaf able to play sports because she showed up to every practice and game to translate for them. She was such a beautiful, loving soul who was so unfairly taken from my best friend, her family, friends, and so many young people in the community who relied on her.
I feel like these massive souls who do such greatness are pulled from their time to be born into another time, because they are needed elsewhere at a different time and place. It's the only thing that makes sense to me.. too many amazing people go out in horrible ways.
Thanks man! Love that some one is calling out the drunk driving. My brother died last year driving drunk, hit another car in the oncoming lane. It was a fucking mess. Tragic and avoidable. He could have made a million different choices that night. Instead chose to risk it all and paid for it with everything.
Recently I was at my friend's house during the evening and one of her other friends showed up and brought a lot of beers with him. He drank them all (don't recall the amount but it was several) and was also smoking something. When he left that night my stomach was twisted because I wanted to say something about him driving while under the influence but I didn't know what to say and felt that it would make things awkward so I stayed quiet. There was another guy there who also didn't say anything. I feel absolutely terrible but I'm not good at confronting people. Does anyone have any tips on how to confront someone such as in a situation like that without making it awkward?
I’m not gonna lie this is my favourite of all your videos. Three years ago two of my closest friends were killed by an intoxicated man driving the wrong way down a stretch backroads highway. The man’s family speculated that he was probably trying to end his own life. He succeeded but he took out my friends in the process. I hate drunk driving with a passion. I'm embarrassed to say I've had 2 DUIIs in my career as an alcoholic (sober since 3/2/11 and lucky not to have hurt anyone) and yeah, $2000 with 12 months probation is SUPER light! I lost my 24 year old cousin when I was 18 to a drunk driver, she was extremely full of life and love. She was taken along with SIX OTHER INNOCENT PEOPLE from one drunk driver, that she herself had 3 young children at home. Selfish, selfish, selfish.
I've been that drunk once and I couldn't even sit correctly. I don't know how the hell she got behind the wheel or even drove at all. She should've gotten a worse punishment because that's ridiculously dangerous for the people around her.
Might be from piling the drinks to close to her departure. She may have left tipsy, which is bad enough already and it fully hit her by the time she got to that light.
Good chance she was still somewhat functioning and then her BAC rose.. when I was younger I didn't know how to drink responsibly lots of trouble blackouts fights..it's ugly honestly. Other thing is she could've mixed other drugs. Xanax etc.. doesn't take much at that point. Already drunk eat even a 0.5 football you could be like this. Yeah though she's shit faced. Some people pass out in their backs and throw up and suffocate. So if you have any friends like this turn em on their sides. Glad no one's hurt and she's okay as well
My dad used to mix Alcohol with pills and man I had a hard time getting him from the Garage to the backdoor steps. Took over an hour...just the backdoor steps. Then he wouldn't go up the stairs. God I'm glad those days are over..
As someone who lost 3 friends to drunk drivers, I have an absolute 0 tolerance policy for it, in any form. There needs to be a minimum prison sentence for this, it's actually crazy how much damage they can cause with so little repercussions, until they actually kill someone.
A minimum sentence isn’t going to stop people from drunk driving. Harsh sentencing doesn’t reduce well any crime. You want less drunk drivers support investing in proper public transit.
The epitome of drinking yourself stupid. I was working at a hospital and had to take care of a patient once that was so drunk that he kept shouting that he was blind and I was like, sir open your eyes. Alcohol is seriously a menace.
“The Three Little Pigs” by Leslie Brooke is a classic children’s story that follows the journey of three pigs who set out to build their own homes. Each pig chooses a different material - straw, sticks, and bricks - to build their houses. When the big bad wolf comes to blow down their houses, only the pig with the brick house is able to withstand the wolf’s huffing and puffing. This story teaches valuable lessons about hard work, perseverance, and the importance of making wise choices. The pigs who took the time to build a strong foundation were able to protect themselves from danger, while the pig who chose the easy way out suffered the consequences. Overall, “The Three Little Pigs” is a timeless tale that emphasizes the importance of preparation and resilience in the face of adversity.
Booze cruisers will stage a violent protest outside the United States capital in order to stop the lobbying and propaganda of big water. Obviously charlie is a bought out shill. “Moist meter” it’s all making sense now
Yeah she's not just drunk. As you mentioned the way her jaw drops, is a clear indicator she was also using either opiates or benzodiazepines (Xanax, Clonopin etc)
I agree with this. This looked more like the one time I was on blues (Xanax + probably fentanyl) than just alcohol or even being drunk/high. I guess it’s possible this was just an insane amount of alcohol and she was not there at all. But then idk how she would have even got behind the wheel or walked even half a well as she did when she got out the car if she was that drunk.
i came to the comments to say this too, the fact that she could walk without stumbling while being that incoherent made me believe it wasn't even alcohol.
Scimmed the vid so didn't see if they got her blood alcohol level.. but I've seen people act like this off a xanax or kpin and only a beer.. doesn't even take alot for some people. The way alcohol and benzos interact w each other causes the combination to really mess you up, often black out and remember next to nothing. Also turns you into a whole different nasty person alot of times.. I was hooked on benzos for years they're bad news.
She is so incredibly lucky she got off with such an extremely light sentence. I’ve known people who were arrested in similar fashions (asleep in a parked car, but drunk) that got jail time, probation, THOUSANDS in fines, and 2 years of breathalyzer in their cars. She got off so, so easy
some of the reasons they dont bang on the door is one- they run , two- they get startled and hit the gas. So like you saw they have to block the car in to protect other drivers and officers on scene.
I live in Wisconsin, where it feels like so many take actual pride in driving drunk. I have lost a few friends and family to it... both by their own hands and others'. I am glad to see you taking a hard stance against it. The worst case I experienced shows how it can go beyond that one bad decision. My husband's cousin was killed by a drunk driver on Christmas Eve several years ago. She had just turned 18. Her older sister was so devastated by the loss that she ended up taking her life a few weeks later. It turned out she was pregnant. The mother of the two girls (my husband's aunt) was so wrecked by all these losses that she also took her life. As far as I'm concerned, that drunk driver killed four.
I grew up in Alberta, it's the same thing here. People will brag about how they drive drunk all the time as if they think they're cool. If you express concern, they'll tell you "it's fine". I've lost friends to it as well. It's never the driver who dies, always the passengers.
Sconnie over here too. I live on a lake and it's even worse. Every year there's a bad boating accident and alcohol is ALWAYS involved in boating accidents. (not literally there's no such thing as an absolute)
Damn. Anyone who's had 3 o'clock to drink is highly unpredictable. Especially when controlling a highly responsive 2-ton murder wagon. The fact that she didn't kill anyone isn't grounds for a slap on the wrist, it's an absolute miracle, and she should still see time as if she did kill someone.
The law always makes distinctions between risk and outcome. That’s why there are so many attempt and conspiracy charges. Nobody who didn’t kill someone should serve the time of someone who did kill someone. That’s ridiculous and counterproductive. She should be forced into an evidence-based substance-abuse program, sbe required to sell all vehicles she owns, and have her license permanently revoked. The last thing shouldn’t be a big deal but unfortunately this country coerces people to own and drive cars because of the shameful quality of public transit in the US.
The situation is even worse when you think about it. Either she was drinking alone, and got THAT drunk by herself; OR she was drinking with friends, and her friends let her drive while THAT drunk
Maybe she left by herself, maybe their friends were drunk too, etc etc She's the only one to blame, you can't put responsibility on someone else for your own fucks ups
In my state it’s a mandatory sentence of a minimum of 90 days for a first time dui of .15 or higher. Absolutely disgusting that she got off with next to no consequences, especially considering there are still people serving YEARS in some states for drug possession charges. If she wasn’t so drunk that she couldn’t stay awake, she more than likely would have hurt or killed someone.
Good thing they conducted a sobriety test. Honestly couldn’t even tell she had anything to drink! Edit: y’all it’s a joke calm down. Ik about all the illnesses that can mimic being drunk. I, personally, just found it funny that they (apparently) have to issue a test when someone is clearly under the influence of alcohol. And maybe if those are symptoms that can happen to someone, say with diabetes, then maybe they shouldn’t be driving either. Just a thought.
THANK YOU for using your platform to speak out so strongly against drunk driving, Charlie!! ♥️ My best friend lost both her parents (and unborn baby sister) to a drunk driver. They were coming home from a Christmas party. My friend was just five years old. Drunk driving is inexcusable!
@murlocmasher3368 This better be sarcasm because you invalidated your argument with that statistic. The majority of drivers aren’t driving under the influence, so you’re saying maybe 5 percent of people, if we’re being generous, cause 40 percent of crashes…
