What do you mean “as a psychic” Edit: Missed the joke, thought she was talking about herself, not the video sry, kinda dumb for that one. Also the comment was worded weirdly
@@OHTIJ It means she should have been able to see the future with her psychic powers to see this lawsuit coming. Basically making fun of her and her "visions".
Little update on the court case: The judge dismissed the counterclaims made by the TikTok Psychic because the accusations made were “baseless” and didn’t come from anyone reliable. The professor has won the defamation lawsuit as they were able to provide a lot of evidence that because of Ashley’s claims, people immediately associate the professor with the murders. They even showed that her name is one of the first things you see when searching up the murder case. TLDR: Ashley’s claims were dismissed and Rebecca won the court case.
Rebecca was actually nice enough to send this woman multiple cease and desist letters before filing the lawsuit. She was given so many chances to avoid this lawsuit but she doubled down instead.
It's not really about being nice, that's just the standard procedure before actually filling a defamation lawsuit because it strengthens the idea that you are acting in good faith to defend your name rather than just looking for an easy payday.
She’s emotionally involved with being correct. I saw clips of her crying because she dreamt about the victims’ parents thanking her. Some people will go to great lengths for their ego.
The fact that she’s so confident about not losing the court case tells me she’s probably terrified on the inside. This type of thing has been happening more and more publicly with social media, and in the end they either don’t show up to court at all, or they show up and try to act defiant. I’m guessing if she does show up she’s gonna try and act tough till the bitter end when the judge tells her that she owes Rebecca tens of thousands of dollars.
Reminds me of 80s satanic panic and those innocent St. Martin Kindergarten-workers that were blamed because kids were fed answers and basically interrogated and even when those kids later told that they said nothing happened and they were pressured to lie, some people still believe it happened.
It's actually insane how easy she's making the defamation case against her. Hopefully it's a slam dunk and that poor professor gets the bag she deserves from this absolute lunatic.
I live near the town where the murders happened and all the online speculation has just DEVASTATED the community. The friends and families of the victims were blamed by TikTok "sleuths" while mourning their loss. The obsession with true crime is INSANE and it never does any good for anyone.
that actually would be in her defense, it's not defamation if it's true. of course it's not the best or even a good defense because we all know the outcome but it is technically a defense.
Professor Scofield was actually one of my favorite professors at the University of Idaho, and she has never been anything but a passionate educator. She wrote her PhD dissertation on Japanese nail salons. Really cool woman. She let me cry on her shoulder as a freshman. She should absolutely pursue this litigation.
Hey, I'm not a psychic by any stretch. But I'm getting a "vision" of her being sent to a 7 x 12ft cell with dark, sticky walls and a buff, tattooed cell-mate named Rhonda.
what an absolute buffoon she didn't even try to hit them with the "it was a message from god" or "it came to me in a dream" everyone knows there's no such thing as a more reliable source than those
One of the victims, Ethan, was a middle school friend of mine. He was a chill dude who was really freaking tall, at least in middle school. I didn't know him enough to be _as_ devastated as his other peers and family, he probably didn't remember me. However I'm still affected by this for another reason. I've seen newspapers turn this event into the paper equivalent of click bait. It's gross. They try to make something genuinely horrible look like another celebrity outrage. Arrows, conspiracies, bold text, they are trying to grab the attention of already affected people so they can monetize the death; the despair. My brother goes to the same University, I couldn't even imagine what I would feel if they monetized the death of my brother. They treat it the same way they treat celebrity shit like "KIM HAS SAGGY ARMPITS??!!" or "TRUMP SAID SOMETHING OFFENSIVE AGAIN??!!" and I think that's just inappropriate and selfish. Treat it with the respect the victims' families and friends deserve. It's disgusting seeing how many people try to use a tragedy to bring profit towards themselves.
Respectfully, this is nothing new. News media drools at the sight of terrible events, anything that’ll get the clicks. The happier the news the less views, the darker more twisted and horrific events the better (for them) because more people will want to know about it.
This is just kind of sad. She's obv not in her right mind. The age of the internet has made these types of breakdowns (common for bipolar, paranoid disorders, schizophrenia, etc) very public, with even worse effects on the sufferer and the people they lash out at in their illness. I have relatives who have suffered similar things who now function like every other person after a stay in a psych ward and medication and I can't imagine they'd be where they are today if they'd had their episodes publicly.
That's one of the biggest downsides to the internet and social media culture, no matter how bad or weird someone's opinion is, someone will agree and validate them. Which makes it hard to get good information if you just get stuck in feedback loops.
She says that she is not emotionally or personally connected to Rebecca at all. Yet with all the detailed fictional character study and deconstruction she is unloading about Rebecca, she ought as well had known her emotionally and personally. What impeccable irony.
I cannot even imagine what Rebecca is felling, one day your mourning 4 students, the next a crazy women is accusing you of murdering them, and even when the murderer is caught she's still chasing you, making up fake stories and saying you should be arrested
I think what's really sad (besides the fact that actual human beings with brains believe her) is that most people like Ashley don't learn their lessons. She'll lose in court, & come back & just be like 'It was the justice system failing again, but I won't stop until the truth is out & Rebecca ends up behind bars..." & no one will be surprised, but we'll all be disappointed that humanity could create someone this stupid.
Her lawyer is going to tell her to settle. Her lawyer is going to tell her that she cannot win and she needs to settle because when she loses in court, the jury may award much more money to the teacher than just the 75 grand. I can imagine her lawyer trying to explain it to her. "I'm a bit of a legal psychic myself. Uuummmmmm, yes. I see you being laughed out of the courtroom after losing your case. I also see no lawyer willing to actually take your case. Yep, I see a huge loss in your future. SETTLE! It'll be less painful."
The issue is that it's a defamation case, where it needs to be proven that the psychic was aware she was intentionally spouting lies. But she's such a nutcase that she probably 100% believes herself and her tarot God status.
I never doubt that people can be completely disconnected from reality, but when they're both disconnected and coherent, that's more disturbing for some reason.
@@yy22-iq9bo I think that could be the case, but it’s not necessarily that simple. I think you can try to do reasoning on top of a foundation of lies, and things might start to fit together, but from the outside it looks like denial. If only we could step inside other people’s minds and see things from their point of view, without losing our own…
"I do not know Rebecca Scofield I am not connected to her in any kind of way" then proceeds to tell an entire story like she was there and saw it happen with her own eyes, saying everything like it's undeniable proof. This is the reason I hate people so much, people like this woman are so stupid and full of themselves. Idk what's worse being able to casually accuse someone of a terrible crime like its nothing or the fact that she actually convinced others she was right 😭
Tiktok and other platforms also somewhat encourage this woman to indulge and spread her delusion. This woman is not right in the head for sure, but the society around her support this...sickness
I feel you but this seem more like someone who is suffering from psychosis. Her affirming "this is not a feeling. this is knowledge" kinda sealed it for me since she has literally 0 evidence.
I don't know how much people are actually taking this woman seriously here though. I have a hard time believing the friends and families of the victims give a shit about some rando on Tiktok accusing some other random person of doing this after the cops have already arrested the probable killer.
@@moonwhooper It definitely is idiotic but I'm not convinced it adds any stress to the victims or their families. It adds stress to the professor, for sure.
Ya know, I already have some low self esteem but I think I would be absolutely crushed if someone just looked at me and said *I look like a murderer* before continuing to frame me for a crime I had nothing to do with.
I recently saw a TikTok where a girl claimed that lots of TikTok "psychics" say the same things her brother did before he suffered a schizophrenic break. I think there's a _huge_ issue online right now of people excusing and even defending delusions or psychosis just because the person claims it's "spiritual'. We need to hold these people accountable and they need to get help before they cause real harm.
There is a huge community that targets people with schizophrenia who “see god” telling them to stop taking their meds and that their schizophrenia isn’t real they’re just a prophet and let the deities in and god chose you etc. it’s so dangerous, schizophrenics are already really vulnerable to believing things people tell them don’t make their delusions worse because it can cause them to kill themselves or do something stupid 😭 god the spiritual community is so disgusting on tik tok.
To be fair, though, there’s also a growing trend presently to scapegoat people’s utter stupidity and/or general shittiness as “mental health issues.” Which as someone who once suffered from long bouts of depression, moodiness, suicidal ideation, anxiety, and extreme mood swings, I frankly find it OFFENSIVE.
@@jaythomas468 this. Absolutely distressing how common it is for people confidentially agreeing whilst simultaneously demonstrating how entirely incompetent they are in the subject.
@@cwolf208 she would technically be a psychopath, because psychopaths feel no remorse and believe they are justified in their actions. Sociopaths on the other hand have a weak conscience, and will justify things they know are wrong. So one of the many differences (there are other differences) between the two is wether or not you know what you are doing is wrong.
@@gr00v3ydud3 Stop using diagnostic labels. Feeling no remorse and doing morally ambiguous/unjust acts has no connection to anti-social personality disorder. This woman has displayed consistent delusions of grandeur. That is the only consistent symptom and that doesn't lead us to any diagnosis or mental illness alone. Psychopath and sociopath are labels referring to different characteristics and different developments of anti-social personality disorder. They aren't mutually exclusive though as behavior doesn't come in absolutes. Sociopaths tend to be more impulsive and are usually FORMED(pop culture reference: The Joker) Psycopaths tend to have much better emotional regulation and are usually BORN.(pop culture reference: American Psycho). A critical factor between the two is the development of certain areas of the frontal cortex.
Rebecca was my history professor last semester, she broke down in class while telling us about these videos, I’m glad this lady is getting what she deserves for hurting such a kind educator.
Hey, University of Idaho student here. I lived in an apartment half a mile away from the site of the murder when it happened. It has been horrific to see the way internet crazies have harmed my community. Moscow is a small, close knit town. It hurts to see my professor being attacked for no reason. Thank you for talking about this Charlie.
The exact same shit happened to my family when my cousin was murdered 🫠 some Facebook medium used tarot cards and said her family must be responsible…even after the actual killer was found.
My dad instilled in me…”I know I’m not the smartest….but I absolutely refuse to believe that I’m the dumbest.” And after seeing this entire thing unfold…and she still doubled down…AFTER the suspect was caught is mind blowing to me but I see stupidity knows no bounds.
@@karno6679 yep, I know I don’t have the answers to everything and that’s ok but I know I’m not out here making foolish decisions like this TikToker who signed herself a one way ticket to a defamation lawsuit especially since she was given multiple warnings to quit while she was ahead.
You're confusing stupidity with mental disability. Shes unwell. Shes not a normal person that just didnt goto school. Its sort of a nuance but there is a difference. We need to improve this shit regardless.
@@nomoretwitterhandles the fact the reality that there is someone that’s potentially worse is sad to me but with how things are in this world…it’s inevitable at this point.
Can you imagine training for years to be an impartial judge in a court of law and this woman walks in with paper cards to explain why the completely innocent woman sitting as the plaintiff is a cold-hearted murderer.
My best friend has tarot cards and has given me readings before, but she doesn't claim she can solve murders or have visions to confirm some random bullshit. Her readings for me have been vaguely accurate, because the thing with tarot cards is that you can interpret the cards you get so they fit what you imagine for yourself. I find it quite interesting when it's harmless - unlike this woman using this tarot reading and visions to frame a random innocent woman.
Not only did that professor lose students in a horrible way, but she was then accused of being sexually attracted to them and murdering them! So horrible...
I was sure this girl would pull back on her accusations. Now that this other man was arrested, but the fact that she’s doubling down is just insane. She is going to owe this teacher so much money in the lawsuit.
Not necessarily. If she gets an evaluation done and comes to reality before her trial, he has a strong case for insanity defense. If a medical expert concludes she was psychotic(not a tough bar to sell here) then she won't be found responsible.
As a local, this shit has really pissed me off. Everyone's been treating these victims like true crime entertainment, I feel so bad for the families that have to see and deal with all of this shit, and Rebecca for this garbage.
True crime culture in general is bad and that's coming from someone who used to be a really big fan of true crime shows. But the way stuff like this happens and not just with TikTok detectives but the true crime in general Where you forget there's people behind every victim, it's just messed up man.
@Goat K its silly. how do you expect to solve a murder without being able to investigate the scene and evidence yourself? pure fantasy these people are living
You know what's weird? To add to it some true crime investigations in really deep rabbit holes let people talk about stereotypes and I don't know if it's just what I seen but there's a weird trend where a lot of the tcc commentators are racist against native Americans for no reason and apply a lot of stereotypes to Them. It's freaking weird
I was half asleep at 2:20 and the description was so crazy, I had to ask myself if I was dreaming. Such a wild and crazy situation of a lunatic woman trying to ruin someone's life.
If it were just the "I have never met this woman, also without looking at any socials I KNOW she's trying to cheat on her husband with another woman" it'd be funny, but unfortunately it goes further.
i live in idaho and this case has hit the community hard and the fact that shes just throwing out accusations like this is absolutely disgusting and wreckless.
You live in Idaho? Are you sure you didn’t commit the murders? I don’t say that just because you said you live in Idaho. I saw that you said you live in Idaho and thought maybe it was you.
The scary thing is she actually believes everything she's saying. She's not consciously being malicious, this is just a case of gross stupidity. What a crazy way to go down though
I don’t get why people throw around buzz words like “narcissism” when there’s diagnostic criteria for narcissistic and similar disorders that she doesn’t meet. We can only see so much, but going off of her seeming to truly believe what she’s saying, she could have delusions. If she’s truly ill, I hope she gets help. Most of all, I hope all turns out right for Rebecca.
You all realize that psychological disorders can be comorbid right? She could easily be both a narcissist AND schizophrenic. Regardless, her shit seems pretty complex so any kind of armchair diagnosis is futile without a ton of actual professional observation.
Praying for the families of the victims. Also, praying, like I'm sure they are, that we can all watch this court proceeding live. Who's betting she decides to defend herself with no lawyer? She already feels like she's a better "detective" than Sherlock Holmes himself, so I'm sure she's better than OJ's lawyer, too.
Thots and prayers..... I am praying to have more money. Hasn't worked yet. Prayer is such a ridiculous concept. It affects nothing. Do something tangible or just not boast about your thoughts online.
@@cjodysseyI see one of the infamous reddit "atheists" has emerged to pretend to be mightier than thou. I too am atheistic but well wishes are not something to scoff at, unless you lack empathy like a redditor
The good news is that there's no insanity defence for defamation, so we can hope that she gets the help she needs AND hope that she's sued for every penny she has.
The fact she's completely convinced that all of this is true, and that on her tiktok page she talks about how russian police and other people are trying to interfere with her investigation or some other gangstalking nonsense, it looks like she has legit psychosis or schizophrenia. Hopefully she takes a grippy sock vacation soon enough but it's hard to feel bad for her when she's been ruining a woman's life and constantly harassing her with this made up shit lol

the fact she wrote a whole ass fanfiction bout this random innocent woman, then proceeding to accuse her of being a murderer AND doubling down is just somethin
The funny thing about tarot cards is that their meanings are up to the interpreter. Even amongst people who claim to be psychics, they will tell you that.
The fact that she's excited to appear in court because she legitimately thinks she'll win by showing the jury her "evidence" is nuts. I find it hard to believe that this is just another extreme case of clout-chasing. That woman needs to see a psychiatrist.
Yeah, I think the "God in the flesh" part of her username is serious, and people with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder often have delusions of grandeur like those. If she was just posting jokes or skits, I'd be willing to believe it was a joke, but not when she's staring at a lawsuit.

"PUNISHMENT FOR LIBEL. Every person who wilfully, and with a malicious intent to injure another, publishes, or procures to be published, any libel, is punishable by fine not exceeding $5000, or imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding six (6) months." both from idaho state legislature. defamation is just a term for a statement that tarnishes someone's reputation and calling someone a murderer definitely counts if that person has never killed anyone.
Are you sure this is just defamation? She's making a false accusation of murder as well as undermining the already determined verdict. I don't know your laws, I'm British, but it seems that a $5,000 fine is a bit of a joke and will almost guarantee she will continue accusing if that happens.
@@threemoo as someone without a legal background, idk if she can be sued for anything else but libel is a misdemeanor in idaho which explains the seemingly light sentence. A misdemeanor still shows up on your criminal record and could affect things like your ability to find a job so there are negative consequences beyond the initial fine/jail sentence. I'm honestly not sure if anything can deter someone this delusional and I don't think she has thought about the consequences of her actions. In the UK, based on what I've been able to find online, defamation is handled in civil action lawsuits where damages are awarded to make up for financial loss caused by defamation if the person suing for defamation wins. It is not a criminal matter. According to one English solicitor's website, the highest amount of damages awarded for libel is £300,000 so the ceiling is definitely higher than it is in Idaho. However, having looked into the case further (Barron vs Collins), it seems like £54,000 had to be paid to multiple people who had been defamed and then the defendant had to pay the claimant's £120,000 legal fees so the £300,000 figure is a little misleading.
Something I learned in undergrad studying journalism and that I wish new outlets actually did is not name a suspect in custody unless or until they have been convicted of a crime. Journalists have ruined so many lives bc we're driven to get the scoop on a case whether or not it's backed by evidence
I have friends who go to the college, I was horrified when I saw all of this as well, And I'm shocked to see this is still a thing after they got the dude in Pennsylvania
As someone who reads tarot, it’s literally just for fun. It shouldn’t be used for life advice, it should be taken with less than a grain of salt. It’s not a tool for solving crimes, it’s a deck of cards with cool art on them and that it.
But even if you believe in magic, divination and whatever else you may think you are doing with Tarots, they aren't meant to solve murders. I am as agnostic as you can be, but I have an appreciation for traditional folklore and beliefs, and also occult I would say, they are fascinating and a piece of our cultural history. Anyone with an actual interest in Tarots reading that isn't trying to sell you something will tell you that the cards are to be read directly together with the person you are reading them for, asking questions and, even if you 100% believe in magic, they would only suggest answers to explicitely targeted issues. They don't give you visions of the future or past, they are a tool for fortune telling and to decide how to act. Which is why you *read* them. You need to know the symbolism of the cards, the different meaning they have if downward and do so while confronting the result against the person you are reading for. It's absurd that I have more respect for this than a new age hippie psychic girl on Tiktok
@@lorenzomeulli750 you’re exactly right, it’s not right morally to even do a reading for someone who isn’t somehow in front of you or communicating directly with you. Doing so leads to situations like this, where you have someone convinced that another person is guilty of a terrible crime, that they were never present for. Her only defence was that her higher self told her these things were true
I dont use them but i can even understand people using them for life advice in the sense that maybe whatever they read may reveal something about themselves that theyve been trying to avoid but requires confrontation. Nothing like this case, though.

If a family comes to you for a reading or some sort of help then go for it but if not you keep it to yourself…this woman is not only insane but just plain selfish and she deserves the punishment she’s getting
That's actually an excellent point, and practicing witches might even argue that reading someone without them asking AND THEN USING THE READ TO GO AFTER THEM would be considered black magic and she'll get the spooky army against her too
Yup. I don't believe in any of that stuff, but even I know that it's considered baneful magick to perform any kind of magick on someone without their explicit consent.
The"psychics" are the worst type of human beings, its so stupid to think they can throw curses, read the future, make someone fall in love. The worst part is that they make you pay for their service
I don't believe in the accuracy of readings etc. personally, but I'm pretty sure in the world of tarot that readings for someone who's unaware/gives no consent are not only unethical, but considered inaccurate and unreliable even by believers' standards. I'm pretty sure half the point is for someone invested in the reading to interpret the results and connect their own feelings with them. So if no one involved with the subject is present, it defeats the entire purpose.
Lol what a joke... Delusional grifters pretending to have some sort of "medical ethics" is a fucking joke. Please, let's not pretend there is anything valid about baseless magical thinking like this... This is almost like the Amanda Knox story. She was framed for the murder of her roommate and even when they found the actual killer people still blamed her.
