If pH is normal but the CO2 is still high, I would expect the bicarbonate would be higher than normal to have compensated for the high CO2 and raised the pH.

For normal pH with high CO2, bicarb would be higher than normal to compensate the respiratory acidosis.. Can u add something on base excess parameters in gas report, sir?

Yes.. you are correct about the Co2 and bicarbonate balance. Regarding base excess... we can't give normals per se because a baby with BPD on diuretics may have a + 10 BE and can be considered its "new normal." In general...+3 to -3 you're unlike to need to do anything
