Thank you Dr. Ergin! after following many of your educational video my sugar level has improved tremendously I.e Fasting blood sugar test at last check up 6 months ago with 6.6mmol/L now 5.1, the dark red purple marks on my right ankle has faded and returned to normal skin color. recently tested A1C is 5.4 and the Oral glucose tolerance test is 6.4, previously 11. Hopefully my persistence with your educational video guidance will reverse the title from Pre Diabetes. Once again thank you so very much and God bless.

So my take away from this is that Vitamin C doesn't impact blood sugar, just the readings of the meter. Since I am fortunate enough to be able to control my diabetes (so far) through diet and exercise alone, I use my glucose readings just for personal information and to check how I am doing. Thus the only effect of inaccurately high readings is to cause me mild alarm and puzzlement. Now that I know that a reading may be inaccurate (after consuming Vitamin C rich foods), I can take that into account and not be surprised. Thank you for this information.

I wanna make sure that it`s only dangerous with Glucose checking situation. (A lot of missed conclusions are in comment section) LD50 of ascorbic acid is 11900mg/kg. Which means, it has no toxicity at all. Under 10g/day, no harm could be done. As for comparison, another stable material, caffeine has 2~300mg/kg LD50. * Antioxidant don`t always damage the normal cell. Some of tem do, but not ascorbic acid. Because, ascorbic acid is a Antioxidant, but also a reducer. Which means, it helps the reduction in Oxidation - reduction cycle. (this cycle is the basic molecular mechanism in human body) Actually, damaging part is Oxidation, not an reduction. There`s no way that Stable reducer could damaging the cell. *If it does delivers the damage to the cell, 11900mg/kg LD50 can`t be explained. So, if you take high dosage(1~6g/day) of Ascorbic acid, keep going. You have no worries. It is indeed effective and harmless. *Beware of doctors checking! You should tell them about your special intake condition. If not, they could kill you in intention of helping. Reference : The healing factor(Irwin Stone), Biochemistry, Human Biology.

I REALLY need answer for this. I've searched all over but couldn't find answer to it. I need to make decision for my health condition. How about A1C test? Does Vitamin C effect A1C test as well like it does to glucoce meter? I'm wondering if Vitamin C doesn't effect A1C test even if it effects daily glucoce readings, then it's ok to take Vitamin C as long as A1C test done regularly to monitor overall condition. Please clarify this for me. I'm debating if I should cut down my Vitamin C intake whille some suggests that Vitamin C could help controlling glucoce level in general. Thank you.

Can somebody share their reading before and after vitamin C intake. Remember Vitamin C lasts at least 10-14 days in your circulation. If you truly want to measure after, do it after stopping Vit amin C. According to manufacturers of glucose meters, above 500 affects reading. Also remember absorption varies from person to person.

The vitamin C is a replacement for green vegetables. Stopped eating these in my early twenties, I am now 62 years of age. At that time I subsisted on chocolates ( 2 slabs of 200g per day), only drank coke at least 4 liters per day, eggs and salami for fat and protein. Filled up with chocolate and a glass of coke before bed time. At that time I was very active cycling about 50 km every day, to work and back home). About 12 years ago I stopped using coke and chocolate. Started drinking black bitter coffee. Still love indulging in sweet cheese cake. This tend to lift my sugar to about 8.1. After a few hours this tend to fall to 5.1. Pretty normal readings. My eyesight is 18/20. Still very healthy. Zero so called old age problems. Look about 15 to 20 years younger than my age. Vitamin C is recommended by other doctors to HELP immune system in fighting covid with dosage of 5,000 MG of vitamin C. If large doses of vitamin C causes a false reading then what must be done. Is this some kind of fear mongering to stop people from taking vitamin C?
@sunrise_53
@sunrise_53 2 года назад
You can still do a mega-dose of vitamin C when symptoms of related viral infection occur at a very early stage to mobilize and super boost the immune system, as your body is about to face an internal war. Nevertheless, the doctor was saying that 500 mg of vitamin C or less may be enough for a daily dosage without any symptoms if you plan to measure your blood sugar without erroneous readings. Do not measure your blood glucose during megadose supplementation because you will get false readings, as the doctor said.

@acs5008 2 года назад
Dr is not saying not to take Vit C, it is still a good immunity vit to take. What he is saying because of it molecular weight , when you take MORE THAN 500 mg of vit C, the meters are thinking it is Glucose ( sugar) and are interpreting it as High sugar, and if you are on insulin you might take too much insulin to counteract and make yourself Low sugar, (because of meter error, not because it was necessary ). From his post, 500mg and less is the recommendation for a more accurate meter reading. Also, take with lots of water. From my reading, it is water soluble, so works better with water.

Vitamin C is not ascorbic acid. They are never the same. Vitamin C is a complex vitamin which comprises vitamin J, K, P, copper and ascorbic acid. Ascorbic acid is just a subunit of vitamin C and its the least. Best source of vitamin C comes from food. Synthetic vitamin C is just a subunit (ascorbic) and not healthy. Too much of it can actually cause scurvy (vitamin c deficiency).
