Dude I cried like a baby when DD mouthed "I love you" to Nat. It's the first time in the entire show that DD said that to any of her children. At that moment the dam just broke for me
they explain sugar’s nickname in the fishes episode. she got it after accidentally adding sugar instead of salt to gravy (making it taste like hawaiian punch). so her entire nickname/identity is a constant reminder of her mistake (and not affectionate like it initially seems). it’s pretty sad actually
“Where are the doctors” y’all the doctors can’t come every time someone has a contraction 😭 that’s just labor, contractions come every however many minutes apart
😂”can a doctor come help?!” The answer is NOPE, the dr just checks on you periodically and comes right in at the end lol. I went through contractions like that for like 18 hours (thank god for epidurals!)… anyways, excellent episode, I definitely got very emotional 😭
As someone who just gave birth to her first baby/daughter 2 weeks ago and has a mom very similar to jaimes character, this episode made me emotional lol very accurate and very well done
Pete's a lawyer, I'm pretty sure for United Airlines (which is based in Chicago). Last season when Syd asked Carm if they had any airline miles to send Marcus to Copenhagen, he responded, "Uh yes, Pete. At United".
Me and my mom have a very complicated relationship. She has some mental issues i have some mental issues. My childhood could've been worse but it was not good in our household. Anyway....I lived 5 hours away from her when I was pregnant. I had complications 2 wks before my daughter was due so i gad to stay in hospital. I called my mom and her and my cousin popped up at the hospital the following morning. I can't begin to explain all she had to do to get there that fast. It touched my heart. Ill never forget it. Btw. Doctors aren't in the room when you're in labor the whole time. Its a process.😂😂
I swear Jamie lee Curtis comes on this show to remind us she’s a academy award winning actress a master class every time I’m gonna need her to be more in the show loving the reaction
She also gave birth like two months after this episode was filmed. Sugar in season two was very visibly clearly real pregnant, sugar in season three is very clearly fake pregnant.
Rob and Bryce, Abby Elliott who plays Natalie "Sugar" Berzatto has given birth to two children in real life. Abby Elliott & husband, Bill Kennedy have a daughter, Edith Pepper Kennedy and a son, William ‘Billy’ Joseph Lunney Kennedy IV Her father is Chris Elliott who played Ronald Schitt in "Schitt's Creek". Her sister is Bridey Elliott.
My mom was clinically insane and acted much like DD. She passed away before I had my daughter and while watching this episode, I felt like this is how my delivery would have gone had my mom been around for it. I didn't have a good relationship with my mother but regardless, this episode did something serious to me and I ugly cried throughout most of it.
I looked on patreon and saw zuff’s message such such bad news , I didn’t hunk it would be that bad but I really do hope he survives it because I’ve been missing him. I told him happy birthday three days ago on insta and he liked the message and I did the same last year too. I hope you guys are doing alright with the information about him and I hope y’all can support him through it and I’ll continue to support you guys too. Also fun fact to lighten the mood I heard that the actor that helped ebra out with the drive thru who said “it would be bad if it smelled like shit” isn’t an actor irl and has known the show creator since kindergarten
Can you please share what was posted for those of us who are not on Patreon? I had to pause my membership for a while, but I, like so many others, have come to care about Zuff and miss him.
@@IndieCindy3 He recently found out he has testicular cancer and he is undergoing chemo. He seems upbeat and sent love to viewers in hopes he will be back and Rob and bryce will continue as a duo till his return
@@IndieCindy3 okay so I don’t have the money to fully see what it said but it said that he has testicular cancer and that’s all I could see because like once again I had no money but that makes sm more sense because he seemed to be sick for wayyy longer
15:25 she put sugar instead of salt in a dish accidentally while her mom was cooking on Christmas and she was given the nickname they talk about it in “Fishes”
I only made it to 6/10 cm before I was begging for an epidural. Yes, it’s the most unimaginable, intense pain. Sugar was right in saying it’s fucked, lol. And no, the actual doctor doesn’t show up until the very end. Thanks for shouting out us moms, we’ve been through it. 😂
Just so you guys know, since you kept asking “where are the doctors?“when a woman is in labor there’s really not much that they can do other than timing the contractions. Once contractions happen at a certain duration and with a certain frequency is when they know that the baby is coming, and then there’s something they can do to assist. until sugar decides that she wants the epidural, there’s literally no reason for the doctors to be invading her space while she’s going through the contractions. It’s just part of labor. I do think it’s really clever the way they wrote this episode, similar to the fishes episode being punctuated by Donas timer going off, this episode is punctuated by Natalie’s contractions.
it is kinda ironic that she plays one of the worst and most narcissistic mothers in TV history on The Bear given what a kind and warm person she is IRL
Sugar in season 2 is very real pregnant. You can see it in her face and her belly. Her belly in season 3 looks completely different because it’s a fake one. She gave birth like a couple months after this episode was filmed so it must have been wild to film her fake birth
6:20 “And the baby is out!” 😅😅 as someone who just went through this with my twice, contractions come in waves and can last hours or days before the *pushing* begins. My wife had an unusual condition where she had contractions for 3 weeks
Oh. And for like 90% of the time you’re in a L&D room, you’re just in there by yourself. Like I said, you’ll go through hours and hours of contractions and labor. You will probably have one nurse or midwife come check on you every couple hours until you actually get close to being ready to push. Otherwise, you’re just on your own most of the time
This show ended perfectly, with basically the 3 most dissed and picked-on, characters in the show. But the most wholesome & lovable characters too. Pete and the Faks.
Guys, is it possible to unlock the Patreon message about Zuff so everyone who isnt a Patreon can also read it, please ? Or repost the same message her on RU-vid in the community tab so we can all send our love and support to Zuff. Thanks.
I’m sure they’re gonna post about it eventually when they’re ready, just be patient I’m sure it’s not easy for them to talk about this and post about it publicly.
@patriece2215 If it is already posted in detail on Patreon doesn't are sense unlock the post so the entire community can be in the loop and send Zuff even more get well messages.
Unpopular opinion here. A brilliantly acted but poorly written episode. The contrived circumstance that had Sugar calling her Mom and spending hours at the hospital with her alone was implausible enough. But the notion that a family as damaged and dysfunctional as beautifully shown in the Fishes episode in season 2 could be healed in that circumstance at the hospital undercuts the whole story arc of the series. Narcissistic parents like that rarely respond in the story book way shown in that episode. Especially not when confronted. I feel that the episode met the need to somehow redeem and explain DD as a character. The Fishes episode was a masterpiece. This one ruined that for me.
how was it implausible to call her mom? pete was out of town, all the bear employees had their phones put away, and claire is very busy with her job. i thought the episdoe made it pretty clear their relationship and donna is still fucked up in a lot of ways. donna was already working on herself by the season 2 finale as well. they also came together in a very intensely emotional moment of birth which seems pretty plausible to me. it's not like they randomly just met up and everything is well.
@@passwordprotectedd thanks. Appreciate that view, and that many people loved it. But I disagree. EVERY other character had their phones away (during the day well b4 service). AND the restaurant phones are down. AND Pete is away. (Apparently also she is not allowed to call Pete from the hospital - Mom has to leave a message for him!). And that situation lasts for the hours that she is in labour. But the real problem with the episode is how clean the resolution was. The whole premise of that episode is that a narcissistic, abusive parent like that could magically become a source of calm and comfort at that time. This show has made its mark with gritty realism, and sorry for me that ain’t it. A birthing suite during labour is not the place for successful family therapy with a narcissist. The episode was all about redeeming the DD character. I noticed that the show runners were credited with writing this episode - different from the Fishes which was a staff writer Catherine Scetina.
@@Justin-ie2zvI don’t think that’s the whole takeaway, since even after birth it’s not a permanent repair. Donna exits quietly and leaves Nat to Pete. I think the birth was more of a truce, even if Nat (understandably) kept distance.
We don't know if things were actually resolved or not tho maybe things will go back to being the way they were and this episode will be just a nice memory for sugar. the very few tender and truly loving moments between me and my very narcissistic father were in the hospital during rough situations so this whole episode seems very plausible to me, having a nice moment with a narcissistic parent doesn't mean that everyone is suddenly healed for the rest of their lives lmao
Thanks, Bryce! Thanks, Rob! 🍽 Such a great episode. 🧊 Since the show didn't make it clear and y'all didn't seem to understand, the cervix need to be dilated to 10cm before pushing can commence.
