Grandmas for the win. Back in the day I needed $$ for school and the bank would not let my parents co-sign. I reluctantly asked my Nan if she would co-sign for me. I felt bad cuz Nan was widowed & retired and I didn't want to ask her in case things went sideways and they came after her for the $$. She gladly co-signed for me and it didn't cost her a dime. I recently bought a used older but special car from a small used dealer, he was on his own because good help is hard to find. I knew I was getting a decent deal give or take a few hundred bucks. When it came down to it I felt no regret not haggling him too hard. Later I researched and he’s a nice legit guy doing the best he can. It turned out much better than I expected, diamond in the rough lol The first 3 I visited they couldn’t tell me anything about it, super rough, I’m not going to pay $12000 for a $3000 car that needs $5000 of work! So keep looking if you need to, don’t believe birds in the bush (someone else said he’d buy it later today…) no good deals are made if it’s now or never to the seller And color should be lowest priority same as broken trim interior stuff that costs $10 and snaps in place lol Quality and condition of paint are important, but don’t buy because of the color lol

If you're good, the biggest thing was getting them off the wrong car on the right car. If dad is looking at a coupe and mom's standing around with 2 kids on her hip, steer him to a sedan and put the spoiler and wheels on it. A win/win.

My grandparents paid for my first semester of college. I was trying to get an Army scholarship, but was "on the line" for beating out the other candidates. They sent me to college that semester, I got a 3.96, and got a full ride Scholarship and served five years after college. Changed my life in the very best way. If I make it to my 80s, Ill be signing anything and everything for my grandkids. Let the credit bureau come after me in the funeral home.

There are so many variables and misunderstandings in used car sales. I respect anyone trying to do well for themselves and family as long as they’re not going out of their way to be malicious. Things don’t get noticed or understood and guess where they point the finger first? That’s why I don’t work on other peoples cars. Give them a free oil change then their power window stops working, that stuff is too much

Shit ,just lost my last post. My Case dealer salesman talked me into a backhoe my first purchase, it was nicer than I had a down payment for , but he said you’ll never regret it, he said rent it for 3 months and if you don’t have the down you don’t need the machine. Well it’s paid for itself 10 times over. 3 kids thru college and I still love it . And the butthead was driving a new C-5 Vete when he came to see. 😂

Years ago I'm selling bikes. The kind with pedals. A guy walks in and asks about the availability of one of the top models which was $12,000. He had driven up in a several years old Subaru Outback that was a little beat up and had average outdoorsy clothing on. Something seemed a little off but I couldn't place it. In this situation some people would stear a customer to cheaper models. I stead I walk him through all the specs and advantages of the top of the line. After talking for 30 minutes he pulls out a credit card to make a deposit so it can be ordered with a huge smile on his face. Once he leaves my coworker walks up and let me know the guy I had been talking to is an old friend. They had done multiple centuries (100 miles) together. He works at the local universities hospital and made about $300k per year. He had a degenerative health condition and was only going to be able to ride for another 1-2 years before his health would keep him off bikes for the rest of his life. $12k was what I made in 4 months but he made that in about two weeks. It was a big lesson that people's budget isn't the same as yours. You don't know their story. This guy just wanted to be excited for his last hurrah before life does what it eventually does to us all. Imagine if I had talked him down, "This is too much for you. You don't need this. Let's look at some more reasonably priced models." He rode that bike for a few months before getting a different one that had just came out. Then bought the exact same one once it was available in black because red was too flashy for him. I think he spent $40,000 in that 1-2 years and didn't regret a penny of it.

When I was going to buy a new car i hoped for a salesman just like you! I had new cars in my sisters name and my ex wife’s name and they didn’t have drivers licenses. So I needed a salesman just like you someone who wanted to sell a car

Nothing wrong with making money- we're all trying to make a buck. The main thing that gives car dealers a bad name is not being truthful about vehicles. I've been burned by used car dealers because I was ignorant. Other times I got good deals. I like buying from private sellers because the price is typically cheaper and the sellers can be more honest because their livelihood doesn't depend on the sale.

Even if that’s the ONLY portion they saw it’s not Rob’s place to deal with. That piece is on the finance guy. I see granny, momma, daddy, sister, cousin, or friend co-sign every single year. Guess what? I didn’t recommend that solution. They come to the table and we have to evaluate the overall financials. Regulatory standards are there to keep everything in check. You’re dealing with predatory lending guidelines but also discrimination if you’re not careful. Screw Tiktok.

I have a question. I was attempting to purchase a truck that was advertised at my local dealership. Their website and other sale posts said the truck was selling for $10,500 but when I showed up. They told me it was $16,800. So I understand taxes title and fee's come into play after the advertised price but how did it jump over $6k after asking? I am in the DFW Texas area, and after bringing up my concern they told me it was around $1,600 taxes title and fee's but the rest was in repairs they had to do to the truck like paint correction and replace parts that were needed to be replaced due to the vehicles mileage. Also, maintenance like fluid changes and new spark plugs ETC. So I understand they did all those repairs but why can't they just include that in the original price. Like hey we are advertising this truck for 15k + taxes title and fees. Then when I show up I'll be so much happier to pay the 16,800 knowing that all those repairs and maintenance were addressed. Idk I just didn't feel comfortable so I walked out, I was not too happy honestly

I get it, ad a rule we all have a distrust of salespeople with good reason, pressure sales, up selling, sales tactics as a rule sales people have to pressure a customer and yes of course it can go both ways. I think most people distaste of sales and dealerships, now it’s a stupid hyperinflated markups

Being what you’d consider a “bottom feeder” - I flip cars. Only a handful a year. Pays for a couple vacations otherwise I work full time as a service manager at a dealer. That said I don’t buy cars from dealerships. Even though I work for one. But I know what I’m looking at and for when I buy from a private party. I’m sure most of Robs inventory isn’t bought from a dealer. Because he also knows what he is looking at and nobody is gonna pull one over on him. I won’t pay dealership markup unless it’s a collector car like what Rob sells.

The problem with RU-vid is all these a keyboard jockeys always have opinions and comments on things doesn’t matter with the videos about on RU-vid they know better or they know how it’s known better. I’m prove it show us how it’s really done when you’re in sales your job is to sell like you said and you have to feed your family or whatever expenses you have so what’s the difference? I work in a big box grocery store in Michigan and people complain about prices but I always tell them we don’t have any control over at store level and prices so you know if you want food you gotta pay for the price good video I understand where you’re coming from. I sold cars for a while it’s not an easy job.
