To play Gorr the god butcher, Christian Bale changed his name to Atheist Bale.

I think if they actually spent more screen time focusing on Christian Bale actually going around and killing the gods it would’ve added a little more seriousness and danger to the character and might have made the film seem not as comedic. Plus skipping the goat screams after the first time would’ve been just fine.

I think this is the last MCU movie I’m going to watch in theatres for quite a while

I own Nakamichi's previous version of their 9.2.4 setup and all I can say is that it is amazing. It is a little pricey but the cost versus what you get makes it one of the best deals you can get. If you want surround sound without breaking the bank I'd buy one. Also, once you go to two subwoofers you can never go back to just one.

When I first saw the thumbnail, I thought Gorr was Valak from The Nun lol… 🤣👍

I think this is a solid take on the movie and the issues I have with it. (Ugh, the damn goats!) Love & Thunder forced me to admit that the MCU finished with Endgame and everything else since has been messy and underwhelming.

I agree with everything you said, sir. They had Christian Bale playing what seemed like it could have been a dark and powerful villain and they wasted it. C'mon he wanted to kill gods...and could! It felt like there wasn't really a plot and they just went full in on the jokes/randomness that was fun in between the plot of Ragnarok. A lot of bits made me smile, but the line about Sif's arm was hilarious. It should be said though there were a lot of laughs overall in the theater so it seems people had a good time.

I honestly think that they got the wrong villain cause gorr motiv is so dark and the movie is so bright and funny it doesn't match the tone of the movie i think Hercules would've been a better villain or somebody to match the tone

Love you man! Glad to see another classic flick pick review, and with a new set up. Might hold off on watching it this weekend to avoid the popcorn munching unwashed masses, and wait till I can find an empty theatre to watch it in ⛈

I remember when Ragnarok came out, and people had major issues with how Korg undermined Asgaurd's destruction with a joke.... This new Thor movie makes that look like Shakespeare.

Digging the set-up John! There was aspects I liked about Love and Thunder but overall it was just okay/good nothing special. Liked Bale as Gorr but thought we could of got more as him in the movie

The black and white sequence in this movie was incredible, I think visually this movie is stunning just not all the comedy landed for how much of it there was. Christian bale is a goat actor my God he can play anyone.

Couldn't agree more almost like a parody but I have to admit I really liked the goats. Good to see John back in the hot seat, I'd be happy with a review for all the big blockbusters to judge whether it's worth the price of a movie ticket

Hey John. I really dig the set up you have. I enjoyed the movie overall. It was fun and entertaining but the same as you, I wanted more from Gorr and more explanation at time. There’s one scene in particular that is the best scene in the movie, in my opinion, and I'll try my best not to spoil it. But it's at the end and involves a group of young individuals.

I thought it was a mess. Every line of dialogue was played as a joke, and I didn't laugh once. Thor was at his best in infinity war and Endgame. They got the balance right.

Yeah I totally agree with this review. Unfortunately it seems like Marvel is becoming a parody of itself.

Great new setup John! Overall, I liked the movie, but I felt it just breezed through things too quickly and they could’ve dialed back on the jokes too. It did handle Jane being Thor a lot better than I anticipated (meaning it didn’t piss me off), and Christian Bale really was the standout here, but I think we all expected that. I give it a 6.5 out of 10 and I hope Marvel will figure out where they’re going with these movies cause it seems that they don’t as of now. And anytime Bale’s Gorr was on screen, I immediately thought, “this is it. Don’t get scared now”.

I honestly don't understand why The Dark World gets so much hate and Ragnarok get so much praise. Everyone love to rag on Malekith but Hela's motivation and goal are literally the same. At least in The Dark World we were able to have some genuinely emotional moments and actual character progression instead of turning everything into a joke at the expense of the characters journey.

Immaculate visuals, use of color, and breakout performances by Gorr and Jane. My major problem with the film was the ending didn't make sense. I won't completely spoil it for those that haven't seen it, but they fiercely fought to stop Gorr from getting to a certain place and then in the end just gave him a motivational speech and left the fate of countless beings up to his good judgment. What if Gorr said, "F*ck it" after the pep talk and completed his plan? Couldn't Thor have used that opportunity to get what he wanted? It was a rushed and contrived plot that ultimately left me confused and disappointed.

Spot on how i felt about this movie. Would it have killed them to show Gorr butchering some gods? His motives felt confusing at the end. And Jane never gets the original thor power up. They could have shown that as a flash back.

they should had kept Gorr alive, would be perfect to see gorr fight against thor and hercules

Ragnarok even tho it had a lot of comedy was fun for the most part. But love and thunder? Damn this was bad. Too stupid especially when everyone starts calling Jane frost a God when she's been thor for like 2 days

A cartoon is the best way to put it, it feels like a live action episodic teen titans go plot

Not as good as Ragnorak, but still better than the first two Thors. Also really enjoyed Bale’s Gorr performance- lack of god killing was sad, but he was genuinely creepy.

Good Review. 100 per cent agree. It was entertaining enough, but lacked the greatness that came from other top rated Marvel Movies.

Watched it yesterday and I can say I'm a bit disappointed. Yes, the movie was rushed. You can feel that immediately from the opening scene. Too much humor in the movie and most of it is for 10-year-old kids. It is like they saw how successful Ragnarok was with the humor and they dialed it up to eleven. Gorr was definitely underutilized and could have been used much better and on a deeper level. I just wanted to know more about him, the sword, and everything he does towards the end. Also, a lot of stuff doesn't make sense to me from the story's point of view. Only thing I can say was really good were the fight scenes and CGI. They were done really well. Overall, I think that marvel needs to slow down because ultimately phase 4 is mediocre and a mess. There is no stake anymore in any movies or shows. You always know how they will end from the start. Marvel doesn't have the balls to do anything interesting anymore. Endgame really was the climax. After watching the boys season 3, every marvel tv show looks like complete and predictable garbage.

For those of you contemplating seeing it: Save your money!! If you like comedy and childlike simplicity then this is for you. (It's Disney folks) Visual Effects, (previous to fighting Gor the screen goes b/w...that was nice!) Chris, Bale, Portman are great tho! Sometimes and only sometimes directors should NEVER write the film....(btw I saw the @ show Wednesday morning. I was the ONLY one in the entire theatre!)

Even though I think shang-shi is the best phase 4 movie, i did really resonate with Thor in this movie and that might be just the shit in my life but the vibe was there. I think they made Jane a very cool character in the end and that must be very satisfying for Natalie Portman and it's really cool they got her back. Like i get your point but i think we also have to face the fact that because characters are now all over the place we won't get as much flashing out's of those moments cuz we gotta have them for other characters too? Yeah it takes away from the movie in a vacuum as a movie but in the Grand Marvel sheme i think it's a cute movie that can take you on an epic journey if you let it. Full of heroism and dumb jokes we roll our eyes at or giggle about but we love it anyway. Man I'm still glad i'm alive in this marvel era. It's just so much fun, even when the movies aren't perfect. When thor destroyed the tent thing they were in on that planet in the dark demention it felt like they randomly cut scenes right there

The Eternals was my favorite Phase 4 film. It had story. I haven't really been drawn into the story of Phase 4. What I expected from Phase 4 was grandeur and spectacle, and the Eternals has met that expectation the most closely.

The only joke that was seemingly out of place in Ragnarok was the "it's a friend from work" line when the Hulk comes smashing through the gate in the area. But as that was from a Make-A-Wish kid it is more than allowable.

Favorite marvel phase 4 film tie between no way home & DS2

I re watched a lot of Marvel movies, told others to watch it, etc.. In phase 4. I have NOT re watched any movie and I don't recommend them to anyone. "Hey did you watch Thor Love and Thunder? You NEED to watch it! It's amazing".. it just doesn't feel right.. maybe "You're bored and looking to pass the time? Watch Thor Love and Thunder. You don't really need to pay attention so if your multitasking on your phone , you won't miss much."

Just saw Jurassic Dominion. Interesting that the bad guy , is in this movie the same actor as the Amazing Spiderman father , also in the genetics. My theory that all movies are connected .

That intro with the Jurassic park T-Rex and Ford Explorer toy makes me think that John hated Jurassic World: Dominion.

Spiderman No Way Home is hands down the best Marvel of phase 4!! I have a feeling that Marvel is losing their way and that's sad considering all that they've given us over the years.

The part about Chris looking as buff as ever, I think he looks like that because I heard he wanted to get as massive as possible for his role as Hulk Hogan in a movie about him.

This movie was a parody of Thor. The whole Zeus scene was a drag and the "joke" he made was inappropriate for children. The goats were funny for the first scene. Gorr was awesome. Couldn't care less for Jane. Wasted opportunity. 5 /10

Christian Bale gave us one of the MCU’s best villains but the movie couldn’t stop making jokes long enough to give him any respect.

At times Gorr was dark and menacing, but for the most part he reminded me of Pennywise and I’m pretty sure that was Christian Bales inspiration for portraying what he thought the character should be. What people seem to miss is that if they did a comic accurate version of Gorr, it wouldn’t fit the tone of the MCU. So I understand why Bale wanted to change the character.

"Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness" was my favourite one so far. That was great for me to see after "Spider-Man: No Way Home". I'm actually exhausted at the moment. I got a Meta Quest 2 Device yesterday. Actually played it today non stop on a full charge until the battery drained. The last thing I did involved climbing up hights and I have vertigo. It was great. But. Jesus. It feels like I just got back from my own personal tour of a crazy theme park. Still not quite sure which reality I'm in. Good video. Speak later. (Nes Manga)

Please John, do a full review of Jurassic Park using the toys. Then do all future reviews via toy re-enactment.
