In the third Gotrek and Felix novel, Daemonslayer, there is reference on the sheer enormity of the Great Book of Grudges. The Fall of Karag Dum, a dwarfhold far to the north taken by the forces of Chaos, is recorded in the Book on page 3,542 of Vol. 469. This was for an event done two hundred years prior to the 'current setting' or the End Times of Warhammer Fantasy. We can only imagine how many more volumes was added since then. Grom, Grimgor, Kemmler and a bunch of characters weren't even born yet. Neither was Skarsnik, the record holder for the individual with the most entries written about in the Book. Thorgrim had his work cut out for him.

If you want to try out dwarfs, I actually recommend Grombrindal, if anything because you can buff him SO HARD what with his skill's and runes. I never saw a campaign with Grombi where he was slower than 50+ SPEED and wasn't soloing full armies.

At 10:25 or so, I can directly dispute the idea of Thorgrim backing Malakai in the creation of the Spirit of Grungni; there's a quote from Daemonslayer from Varek Varigsson (I think) where he states "If the Engineer's Guild ever finds out about this, heads will roll!" I cannot imagine the High King of an entire race of beings going behind the backs of the people who set the standards for, well, engineering for his people, and have for time out of mind, even for the sake of a good story and fluff...

Honestly if you conquer/confederate zhufbar and build bugmans brewery plus a ranger building you can easily get rank 9 rangers for your army. (I forgot you also need deadeyes tech which is rather easy to grab) Oh not convinced? When a Thane survives until lvl12 you pick the Wanderer?/Vanguard? trait that makes all rangers in your army invisible while firing.

I see no possible way for any single Dwarf to live long enough to get even for every grudge in that paper monument to spite. Oh sure, he could get even for a lot of big ones, but trying to fulfill every promise of revenge demanding by the bitter book would start all the wars that would span untold lifetimes and consume incalculable treasure. And evidently, Thorgrim is too smart to pursue that path according to Pancreas. He's smart enough to shift priorities and know when to save a grudge for another day. And to use tools other than axe, hammer, fire, spear, shot, etc... The sad thing about some bad or disappointing stories is that they have the makings of greatness. A narratively and thematically apt concept that needed a couple rewrites. A moment that perfectly fits a character, showing them hold fast to who they are and what they stand for even as the horde charges and the sky falls. Clever moments of humor. beautiful art. But alas, there is just too much bad or mediocre around it to matter. He forgot to shut the door behind him? One of the characters blessed with common sense ++? Oh come on!

Pop a Squat and gather 'round, children.

I can attest to Pancreas' point about Thorgrim's unit buffs being boring. Aside from decreasing upkeep costs for Longbeards and Hammerers (while giving Hammerers plus 3 for a recruitment rank) as your faction leader, he just buffs Hammerers by giving them the Guardian passive while they're in his army in addition to further decreasing their upkeep costs as an army leader. And that's without getting into how his personal skill line also slightly increases your capacity for different heroes.

Well now I know that about Peppa Pig.

As I was informed on them many moons ago, the Dwarves are rather like 40k Ad mech. Usually in decline from no longer understanding the works of their forebearers and burdened by egos the size of tanks and bigger. Stagnant on good days. A great day is recovering something lost, and only once in a generation, if even that often, do they get a taste of something new and promising without killing the potential for being new. Arrogant, ignorant, stagnant, and traditionalist. Armed with some of the best toys in the setting, but only able to recreate up to mid tear gear, and only in small numbers. Clinging to the better tools of those who came before and refusing to use them for fear of losing them. Until finally pushed to the point, and then they shake the entire battlefield with their faded might of old.

The best character in Warhammer Fantasy is Gotrek Gurnisson and by his name, I accept your challenge to combat, you rat lover.😂

I dread the amount of pages me and my legion would have in such a book.
