So I had a designing for accessibility class in college and as homework we had to do something like this with a few games. It really makes you realize how little things like bump noises can make a huge difference for people hard of sight!

36:06 You can try multiple blindfolds + a sleeping mask if you want viewers to be absolutely sure you can't see. One speedrunner puts like 8+ layers of blindfolds on before his runs.

1) you're routing in cardinal directions, use angles in your routing. For example, in the room with the 1 platform, after you climbed the stairs you would randomly guess how much to walk right then up. Instead, you could just walk up then up AND right, so you're guaranteed to make it into the trash pile. 2) You should include a timer so we can see the time skips after you edit the video

If you do more blindfolded content I’ll watch it twice. This was so fun. And you probably learned a lot editing. If you make real strats for things like how much distance you cover while spamming hammer or jump, you can probably make measured approaches to the sections and clear them much faster!

No worries about being believable. That first moving platform sealed it for authenticity. I think spending a little less footage showing fails and just give messages like the "several more attempts later" but give it a number and affects based on how many, like "12 attempts later" or "100 more attempts later *boom*" will make this more enjoyable to watch. Show your first attempt or 2 being bad then jump to success or your pre-planning

So I like the idea of blindfolded runs. Although it might be really difficult in this game. One think I realised, when you jumped up the stairs: I think Gumbella stops making walking sounds, when you walk against a stair, so that could help in the future.

Edit: @Ags407 showed in a reply that I was wrong. I was probably thinking of a different game in the series. I think the hammer would have really helped speed up the elevator room. When Mario hammers right by a ledge with nothing under it, the hammer won't hit anything, so it won't make a noise. If you find the edge where the elevator stops, you could keep hammering until you hear the hammer hit the elevator. I hope that makes sense.

yoo blindfolded ttyd. If you continue, I'd definitely recommend practicing each section instead of raw dogging it lol. That would save a lot of time. Also, the prologue moving platforms is unironically one of the hardest parts of the run so ggs.

Not just holding up-right to get into the corner before the moving platform was definitely a huge waste of time

This was great. The most interesting part for me was you working out how you were going to do it, I would love to see videos of you routing rooms and then proving your route works even if you never try for a larger blindfold run. Like a segmented blindfold routing.

This episode of Bringle plays TTYD in a weird way promises to be extra spicy. It also promises to be a bit of a ****show if he hasn't practiced a fair bit, in which case it will just be impressive. Either way, I'm here for it.

You should have a friend joining you on voice chat (or in-person) to help you out. It wouldn't be a real blindfold run, but it'd both be entertaining, and good practice getting started.

I've actually attempted this before! I've thought of strats that got me to the end of chapter 1, but i could never get to the pipe after the blooper boss. I got there pretty good but i just couldn't figure out a blindfolded strat

Now this can be a series. I think it would be quite an interesting saga.

I know this is a late comment and other people have probably already said it, but, for instance, when you're on the stairs in the moving platform room, you need make use of the the fact that the gamecube lets you move in combined directions diagonally. On the stairs in the moving platform room, once you get on the first stair (or when you make it to the top of the stairs) you can just continuously hold up + right and you will inevitably end up on top of the junk pile in the alcove every single time, and then the only routing you have to worry about is the distance to the moving platform. On top of that, I know you realized it near the end of the video but, it seems very important that you learn where fall hazards (like water and lava) reset you when you end up falling into them. It seems you were greatly underestimating or misevaluating the distance that the reset left you at. I would love to see you pursue this further even though it might be INCREDIBLY difficult. I had a lot of fun watching at the very least.

Really neat to see how you routed things on the go, especially the platform cycles! (And how you just have so many superguards memorized lol...) If you ever decide on routing more though, definitely get some help from other blindfolded runners, many of them would be happy to help with a new project! Looking for walls/obstacles is for sure something you need, and you already have that down, but you'll need ways of normalizing your movement as well (aka finding ways of consistently ALWAYS moving the same set amount). Counting tap jumps was a good step towards that direction, but even those will be too variable in the long run imo, you really need something that has zero variance. It worked well for prologue because there were plenty of walls for backup and the counts were short (three jumps), but even then you had to time it well and couldn't always get it, meaning that for longer distances this will very quickly get out of hand. Imagine trying to navigate on the moon, for example!

i definitely think you need a bit more of a strategy for tackling the rooms and to map it out better, because some of the rooms felt less like enjoyable content and more like a slog (like when you’re just endlessly running into a wall with no idea where you might be) but im excited to see it continue!

I’m glad Bringle is trying his best, learning little by little, failing and succeeding with the blindfold instead of being like “I have played this game a billion times this is gonna be easy” then do a regular play of the game and finish it… like other fake blindfolds
