This video is exactly what I needed! I changed my thread size and needle size today for the very first time on my Cobra class 26. Al Bane was standing by in case I needed his help. I used this video and dialed in my tension all by myself and felt like I knew what I was doing! Thank you Al for all you do to help us ❤
Hello Al this is not a question about machine but I'll give it try. Why is it that after putting neetsfoot oil I still have spot where it's not going in? Thank you
I don’t understand. So if you bottom loop is showing too much you tighten the top? What do you mean by “loops on top”? When you say “loops” do you mean loose loops?
The bobbin thread makes a loop around the needle thread. If you see the needle thread looping on the bottom, we would recommend you tighten the top. This will pull the needle thread loop up into the center of the work piece.. The inverse is true. If you see the bobbin thread looping on top then you loosen the top and let the bobbin tension pull the loop down and into the material. We do this because it's easier to adjust the needle thread tension device then the bobbin tension device. If we run out of adjustment with the needle thread device for example the knob is falling off of into your hand or the knob is tightened down so far that the spring is flattened out there's no more adjustment in either direction. At this point we start using the bobbin tension device and adjust down there.
What helps me is learning how to think about the process. Memorizing the ditties just confuses me. Understanding the process helps me to manipulate it (tighten/loosen). One question I had, that wasn't answered in this video, is, a loop of what? Yes, I know that it's a loop of thread, but there are two threads being used, top and bottom. I'm probably the only person with this question, but never having stitched a piece of leather (only practice pieces), I'm not familiar with the possibilities for malfunctions. If the answer is simply a repetition of the ditty, it won't help me.
