My townhouse is stucco.
Besides being a renter, the HOA here frowns upon putting holes in the exterior. This is a summary of the 3 awesome ways I have proven to accomplish the task of hanging Christmas lights on stucco without holes.

Heh, hot glue'd C9 Socket to a stucco home, when I came back in January to remove them it pulled the stucco right off the house. Some houses might do alright, but I wouldn't ever use hot glue on stucco ever again.

I think I mentioned doing a test, but I can see that happening. I usually use a flat screwdriver to lift the hot glue up.

For sure, this was my first time and didn't think to do a test spot since its pretty commonly recommended. Definitely everything to do with the condition of the house, this was an older home and I think it had gotten some water damage underneath the stucco.@@TheSleepyCraftsman

Using a heat gun might prevent this for any adhesive. Helps to loosen/weaken the bond. Pain in the butt if you have a big area to do but probably less than patching the stucco.
