Nice, but it totally doesn't match your 1950s kitchen décor.

These systems are brillant. We had one in our music class in our school back in 2003 we used it to listen to music for us to Analyse. Great sound out of these. And yes it made all the exact same sounds your one does! Takes me back!

I use to have many of these in the 90’s and 2000’s, they were great to hook up to a video game console and get sound out of it. Much better than the TV.

About 7 years ago, people at my job thought I was nuts for repurchasing my teenage boombox. I keep it in the garage and love having it again. It's a SONY CFD-545.

I hate those digital audio controls. I much prefer a potentiometer. I have seen many stereo systems in which the encoders are screwed up. My friend had a pretty nice harman-kardon receiver which had a bad encoder, I told him just to use the remote, which worked. which had My mother's 2002 ford ranger had a bad encoder that would randomly turn the volume WAY up at random or when you would go over a bump. The only way to get it to go down again was either to press in and SLOWLY turn it, or just by dumb luck. I finally replaced that damn radio last year and it is so great not having to deal with that crap anymore. On another note, my uncle has a Sony disk changer (i forget how many disks it is) that has a disk stuck in it, but it is a strange case. It will play the disk that is stuck in it on any empty slot, and then if there is a disk in a slot, it will play that just fine. If there are disks in all of the slots, it will play them normally and ignore the disk stuck in it. if there are no disks in it, it will play the disk that it stuck in it, move on to the next slot and repeat the disk, and so on.

Man, those things litter thrift stores around me, but they are normally beat up and WAY overpriced.

Had to look it up, but I had an Awia CX-NMA545 prologic system. It was interesting in that it had separate amplifiers for the subwoofer and high mid-range speakers on the front channels. It did have one of those colorful wacky vacuum fluorescent displays, too. If the clock was not set, you could play a slot machine game! And yes, the rotary encoder for the volume control was junk.

Nice wee hifi. Had a nice Sony from 2001 with everything onc a minidisc recorder and a top mounted cassette deck. Speakers were 70W RMS each. Always sounded good for such a m8cro set.

You're thinking of a 'passive radiator'. They do a actually perform a function and work in a similar way to a bass reflex port, so not actually a fake unit even though it's not electrically connected to the amplifier. It has advantages over a bass reflex port as the holes are usually in the back and can cause bass issues if they're too close to a rear wall in a small room.

There were 3 basic models of these; this is the base, I have the 2nd level up from this one. It has a subwoofer in each speaker, addtional amp, still works great but the cassette decks aren't working so I'll have to dig into it eventually. The higher end model had high-speed dubbing. Ironically I got it from Wal-Mart around 2001 or so, and used the Aux input for the PlayStation2 since the TV I had wasn't stereo. (Yeah, I'm old too.)

Hello, my aunt gave me this Panasonic device but it has some problems: Desk 1 sounds very dull, lifeless, with almost no sound. The Desk 2 has amazing sound. "No disc" appears in the CD player when I try to play a CD. The equipment has collected dust. I would be grateful if you could help me with a solution to these problems. Thank you so much.

Regardless of which disc you select, they all play on the same mechanism.

The same thing appears on each tray: no disc. Could that be dust or is it damage to that type of mechanism?
