We're back to our country home where autumn has arrived in the meantime. We need to catch up on some autumn activities in the garden, but we also made some improvements in our guest house which we want to show you. Peter attempts to make a delicious sauerkraut out of our harvest. Plus, it's time to celebrate one of our favorite holidays 😊

Hello Tommy & Peter!! Sorry we are a little late with comments, but here we are. We enjoyed seeing you two happy with your pumpkin harvest !! We always love to see you guys in your nice garden or seeing Peter in the kitchen 😊😊 The sauerkraut recipe was interesting. We loved the final product. Maybe you will be preparing some dish typical of Christmas from your country. That would be lovely. Have a great week guys. 💙💙🥰🥰

Yes, people often add caraway seeds, here we call them cumin. We went for the simplest version this time but in the future we can experiment more with the flavors. But this year there is no more cabbage from the garden so we are done 😀

i am so surprised, someone else is making sauerkraut, i am thrilled i am not alone in my madness my grandmother had a crock herself but over the years it disappeared but my father did find me one and he made me a wooden weight/press, i made sauerkraut in 2017 and i have 3 jars left and i will make black-eye peas & sauerkraut soup this new year, black-eye pears and cabbage supposed to bring luck and prosperity in the new year or so i am told
@tommyandpeter

I agree with the expression of Peter's face!!! What a nasty thing to carve pumkins!!! But your work was worth it and yours turned out beautiful. Guys you were talking about traveler pumpkins, maybe you would like to see the series "Fellow travelers". So interesting and.....well.... you can imagine. Good luck with the sourkrut. Everyone talked about the benefits of fermented vegetables ( kimchi) but it's not my thing. Sweeties your simple life is also very interesting. Thanks for sharing it with us. Kisses.

Thank you, Liliana 😉 It's nasty but also kinda fun removing the pumpkin guts, haha 😁 We were very happy with the results 😊 We'll try to check out the series. Yes, all the fermented goodies are very healthy and are really beneficial. I got into it this year and maybe I'll show more in winter. But haven't tried making kimchi yet 🙂 Maybe you haven't tasted the fermented veggies suitable for you yet, it's possible to ferment almost everything 😊

Hello boys, totally loved watching this episode how you mix sauerkraut. I make a type of sauerkraut but Hungarian version. Which is white wine vinegar with sugar and you make it fresh not a lot of sugar just enough to take the edge off the vinegar it’s absolutely gorgeous. I also allowed my walnuts to sit on the ground which had no idea what to do with them Now I rakes them up quickly leave them on the shelf in the garden and the beds. The mice or the seat I think it’s the mice on the birds there’s a couple of big birds that take them which is good fun love watching you all, you make me smile, which is a good thing, love and hugs
@tommyandpeter

The Hungarian version is tasty too 😊 Glad you liked the video, it's always fun trying new things and experiment a bit in the kitchen 😁 Yes it's better to rake and pick the walnuts so they last longer.

When you gave the sauerkraut update I thought the cabbage leaves were sautéed liver and that it was your dinner 😮. And this is me without the 💊. Something is clearly not right. I do however love sauerkraut and Polish kielbasa 😋. Thanks for the video and the newsletter ❤❤
@tommyandpeter
@tommyandpeter 10 месяцев назад
Hi Greg, is there something wrong with sautéed liver? 😋😀 It probably doesn't look right to you because the traditional store-bought sauerkraut is only made of white cabbage. The red one that I used in the mix adds color and then it blended into this 😁 Luckily everything has been right and it tastes nice 😊

@@tommyandpeter I guess they are more evasive here in Europe, it can be years between each time I see one, but they are supposed to live all across Europe - except southern Spain&Portugal (+ some southern islands) and southern England (for some reason). You would leave the basket of nuts outside again, and set up a webcam to see what/who takes them 😁

Hey guys, how are things.. We watched this and hoped you had more luck than we here. November and december were cold, but not usualy cold, it was warmer than usual, we had pumpkins, some tomatos, then came january, first half very cold, minuses, second halg temps went to 15 degrees, then in february, litear spring, temps up to 21, 22. cherry trees in bloom,, appels, pears, even bush fruits like blue berries and raspberries. i was telling miron like this is not good, it is even worse than previous year, so before we left, we put inside everything we could, small trees wich were planted last year we covered in bags, any kind of cotton or any kind of bag, we tried to avoid plastic, coz it was in bloom. it was Miron's idea and i did remembered that my granddad used same method when february was wamer than usual. we managed to save small trees and bushes, but stuff like flowers or crops nope. frost killed everything, we can even see on huge walnut tree the effect of frost on its bottom part, part of problem was very cold weather with rain, wich literaly turned into ice on trees and plants over night. i literaly harvested potatos, carrots, baby onion, cabbage, tomato, beans, even few strawberries in february. insane.. anyway i think your walnut thievs are squirls, we set like litel houses into wich walnuts can fall for them, coz we also wondered does someone stealing from our property, or if it was birds, there was no trace of birds, so Miron seted up a camera, 2 hours after night fall, 3 families of squirls came one after another. coz we left like bunch of walnuts on ground, same was with hazelnuts. well done peter with field toilet, but those things will never ever see me in. i have traumas and nightmares from those places. my father's parents had a huge property with big corn and heat fields., medaows with horses and cows and couple of goats. huge silos and coops with chickens, fucsk and gooses. (hated gooses, insane creatures). so between tool shed and garage for freza, tractor and other vheicels , half way from barns and fields, there was one field toilet, made of wood, always dark inside, with creepy vibes. i literay thought as kid i will fall in and something will eat me or that something will crawl from hole and grab me and took down. i always got in and waited a littel, and when no one would watch when i got outside i would sneak out and pee anywhere, behind trees, in tall grass, even barn. i was so affraid of those things as kid. now thinking of those times i really miss that property and those times. one time the goose attacked me and almost bited me for well you know, i was 7 and ran as a hell with ma pants and underwear on my ancels and cried and screamed. and got sclded how i should use the toilet and not act as an animal and pee where ever i like it. was i raised in a bush or what.. as a punishemnt i had to cleam the coop and outside area ( but they removed the gooses) and a field toilets, both of them.. imagine my horror as a 7 year old, when door shut down by itself behind me. they literaly had to ran coz they thought i felt into hole how much i screamed and cried.. thank god after that no one forced me to use field toilets anymore, i was allowed to go all the way back to house to use toilet. anyway sorry for the lenght. you know me.. no need to read everything. Miron says hi.. and sorry for tipfelers. my sight got worse.. have to zoom on almos 200 to see what i am typing or reading.

Hi. Here we had a very warm February - warmer than most of Marchs. So everything woke up early, the trees are going to bloom and of course now there are frosty nights and mornings, so there could be quite a lot of damage. Luckily it's not as fast as it is more to the south where you are, but still it's not good for nature. But it's something that happens almost every year now, with the climate change 😐 We don't have squirrels here, but we would like to have them. They are cute 😁 Omg, that is quite a story about the outdoor toilette 😀
@boredutopia
@boredutopia 6 месяцев назад
@@tommyandpeter oh English term is outdoor toilets, we call it poljski WC (ve ce), so i literaly translate onto pigeon english as a field toilets, coz polje is field. You don't have squirrels in Czechia? Did not know that, we have it here even in cities, like bigger parks or areas with trees, in rural areas they are quite common, same is wood peckers, you see them very rarely but they exists. Could be then some other animal like mices or something similar. Btw there are solar lamps which charge thru solar panels but they don't a need cable to connect to a panel,not sure how it functions but I have one such lamp, solar panel is outside and lamp is connected wirelessly and it works.

There are squirrels in Czechia, also in Brno. But not in the are around the country house because it's more surrounded by fields and squirrels like forests and parks. Inetresting about such lamps. But we have this one already, so... 😁 I think they call these outdoor toilettes the "outhouse" 😉
