I don't want to encourage anyone to just throw away garbage in nature, this is an experiment I'm conducting.
I strongly advise against doing this, but I wanted to see the difference whether there was indeed such a big difference between a burnt canned can and one that had not been in the fire.
in the past I have done a long-term experiment, this also covers a duration of one year.
• Violent Fire Making (W...
This experiment is done under a controlled environment, this area is very humid and swampy at times, the changes of the two cans will soon be visible.
these cans will end up in the trash after they've contributed to this amateurish research.

Absolutely Jacqui, I noticed so much trash this year in the woods of people wanting to go out because of the restrictions. So instead of a video of cleaning,I thought it would be a eye opener to let them see what happens when they throw it away in nature. Hopefully they think twice when they go out camping next time. Iet them see what happens

I'd always carry my rubbish out but I think the reason why cans were burned in the fire in the first place was to remove any remaining food and it's smell, particularly important in bear country and to stop unwelcome visitors rats, foxes etc. So if camping in certain areas I would say burn the cans for sure, but carry them away and dispose of in the normal way. Burned cans may rot down a bit faster too, the burning will remove any coating from the steel

It's not going to be gone. I've thrown cans into a bonfire in my back yard and they don't disintegrate but we don't get much rain. If it rains, it might rust away. I'll stay tuned. Merry Christmas Steve.

If you take it in, take it out with you. We burn things like paper plates and wrappers, but any and all metal and plastic goes back out with us. I've come across old metal cans in long unused fire pits- a lot longer then a year, and old metal cans were still there. Rusty, but still there.

@hildegardkhelfa5358

Well, I am sure, they are still there after one year, roasty maybe but there. And I agree with the point: whatever you bring into nature, please take it back home with you: not only to preserve the beauty, which all of us are seeking out there, but also to protect animals and nature from harm. We are going outdoors to find undisturbed little pieces of nature and peace, not the remainings of other humans (in all their various forms). Add: I forgot to wish you all a hopefully peaceful 2nd Advent. May there be warmth and hope in your day. And health! Hugs and a smile from Augsburg, Germany. :-)
@sosteve9113
@sosteve9113 2 года назад
Agree Hildegard, It is never ok to throw things in nature where it doesn't belong. Still there is so much trash everywhere. I noticed last year there was such a increased filth on my favorite trails. People getting more out because of the restrictions,but it comes with a price. We are looking for there beautiful natural places , bathing it the smell and colours that nature us provide. Getting lost and forget track of time when you stand still and watch live around you. You would think people take there trash away and having a bit of respect. Some even think if you burn everything,it will be gone within a year,with the intention to say it's ok? Instead of making this, one time video of doing some cleaning and taking trash out,I thought I make a experiment,and see what happens with the tin cans. Hoping there is a spark in there head,and thinking maybe I can better take it out instead leave it behind. Ps:I really hope you could enjoy the hike and enjoyed the snow. I was curious the other day what part of Germany had received snow,I looked it up on the weather forecast.:-) Did you broke your personal record? May there be hope, warmth,and good health for you to dear Hildebrand.

@@sosteve9113 I totally agree with you. Same here. All kind of people invade nature, but often from that certain species which is careless and only want to take but never give, without care and responsibility. Sundays in "my" beloved park are desasters of trash after Saturday night parties and we even have plenty of garbage containers there which are emptied every day! Further down along the river and in the forests, it is a little better, but with visibly more traces. No, to be honest, I had to interrupt my tour because I felt more and more sick with every more step I took. So, I spent the weekend mostly taking care and laying down often, so cought the cold in the beginning and am already better. I am just packing my stuff and try again later, partly will be in the dark. The snow melted already, we had some lovely flakes today and the sky is filled with snow clouds. I am living in the southern part of Germany, Steve, in Bavaria. Not in the Alpes, but you can see them from here on clear days. We have two rivers here and plenty of springs and clear creeks plus a very large forest and many lakes. So, beautiful nature is near and I am so grateful for it. The little sickness shouldn't sound like drama queen, I was okay and did some nice reading and some sewing plus normal dog rounds. Hope, your weekend was pleasant. I wish you a good start into your new week. :-)

@@hildegardkhelfa5358 sounds like a l,lovely area with a beautiful view at the Alps. Sounds like a perfect spot to do a picknick. You will improve soon,just take it step by step. You already made big improvements . It's sad that people having all the facilities to throw their garbage to the bin,still throwing it on the ground. I did some sewing the other day, but I only know the basics,your probably laughed when you saw me struggling with it :-)

@@sosteve9113 No, I would never laugh, because it is all so valuable and every even so little effort is special and counting. I would be happy with you for trying it and doing whatever you do. Learning by doing is always the best way and so many people don't even try. Besides, we can always learn from each other and there are always people who are ways better. Yet: doesn't matter. It is no competition and it is special that you do it your way. Thank you for sharing this. :-) Besides: change of plan (again): I was doing just a little 5 km round with Tino now. Better to give me one more day and start tomorrow fresh. Again, all the little snow powder already melted and we looked like mud piglets... well, actually, more like pigs. Yet: sun broke though the clouds for a couple of minutes und turned the muddy paths into glowing loveliness. One of "my" crows flew all the way with us and it was so lovely. I have so little pain today that it was especially pleasant and making me so happy. And this lovely scent of snow in the air. Maybe, tomorrow, I wake up in a white world. Whatever comes, will be fine. Hope, you are having a great day.

Groet !!
@sosteve9113
@sosteve9113 2 года назад
Groeten
@HShobbys
@HShobbys 2 года назад
