That is the incorrect way to fit a thread o let. You cannot go off the face of a thread o let some times the tread is not square with the face Also the thread o lets bevel is engineered to saddle on the out side of the pipe, lowering it into the wall of the pipe is out of code and is a cut out. You did not check the 2 hole on the flange before you laid out the thread o let. You should not be teaching anyone anything about pipe fitting or welding. Your welds are also ruff to the point of needing repair and you don’t know the basics of pipe fitting.

@@TaylorWelding What is the difference between a "set on" and a "set in" olet, and what is the throat thickness of your weld in relation to the pipe wall thickness [and cutout hole diameter] when you set the olet "in" as opposed to setting it on..? Why is this important? These aspects would make for a great video, as well as the need for any reinforcement to compensate for cutting holes in the header pipe...

You may wish to explain dimension "m" in ASME B31.3, Fig 328.4.4 as well, and why they placed a restriction on this dimension... Also Fig 127.4.8 (E) in ASME B31.1 has some interesting information. Good luck with it mate...

I would like to learn a new trade like this, (or anything pretty much), but I am going progressively blind, so whatever I welded would most likely not turn out too spiffy. :). Is there ever a time that going over a previous weld is not appropriate?
