In British Columbia, hunters must leave the tail and a portion of the sex organ attached to an edible portion of a harvested deer. This is a requirement so that Conservation Officers can confirm that the animal is a legal harvest. If the tail or sex organ is detached from the animal then it no longer serves as evidence of species or sex.
If you skin and quarter your deer in the field, it can be tricky to keep the tail from falling off. I show you my technique for keeping the tail from falling off.
