I was 16 when I saw this in the theater, l left crying like a baby. I remember saying that movie better win best picture. Sure enough, winner of 11 academy awards including best picture!
Sissel, the vocalist, was absolutely incredible for these instrumentals. For many years I thought this was Celine Dion but it’s Sissel Kyrkjebo. I can’t even imagine how amazing My Heart Will Go On would have sounded if she did it!
I first saw Titanic when I was around 7 or 8. Now I'm 16 and now that I'm older I understand everything completely. Titanic is my all-time favorite movie.
It's not the real Titanic, it's the same scene when they are leaving Southampton later in the film..Cameron just flipped it and put it in black and white...Notice the lady in the dress at the railing, you will see her later in the same scene
@@infinite800 This is very simple editing... Today you can even do this with Windows Movie Maker. With that being said, the simplicity of it is perfect for this.
The greatest opening credits ever, nothing will hit you on an emotional level with just credits (Maybe you don't think so, but your not changing my mind on this one)
Its been 22 years, & to this day, I still get a heavy feeling inside when I see this intro. That vocal just reaches in your soul & pulls out feelings you dont want somehow
But something isn't right, why is the color in the intro video brown instead of black and white? The problem is the Titanic sank in 1912 where the video footage should be in black and white like in Charlie Chaplin's film
@@royhetharia2816i love how dumb fucks like this have the stupidest remarks ever. Dear lord. Guy is living in his basement but has smart ass remarks on most successful and oscar winning movie in motion picture history. Fucking hell
THANK YOU ❤️😊👍 FINALLY SOMEONE WHO REALIZES THAT THIS ISN'T FOUND FOOTAGE FROM 1912 ALL IT IS IS FOOTAGE FROM THE MOVIE AND ANOTHER LITTLE KNOWN FACT JAMES CAMERON ADDED THIS EDITED THIS AT THE LAST MOMENT AT HOME ON HIS COMPUTER
This intro is so intense that it gives me shivers down my spine. I can't fathom the pain all those who had to endure during the sinking of the Titanic felt. It makes me shed a tear.
From action to drama, to political Avatar, yet still can make regular people go to theater to see his movies (that's why his films are among the most memorable and highest grossing)
From 1:00 i just cant stop my tears...the sonar sound, slowly fading.. the submarine diving deep to search for the people, in vague, to search and find the unfindable, the souls that sunk in the sea. I cannot hold my tears back.. and Sissel's vocals... I just cant....😭😭😭
They were looking for treasure, not people- There MAY be some fragmentary remains, perhaps within any of the hundreds of pairs of shoes on the ocean floor, but any bodies are long since gone.
the intro is so heartbreaking, along with the background music. seeing people so happy and waving goodbyes to everyone else while leaving Southampton, little did they know most of the goodbyes were really goodbyes forever.. Titanic had a happy beginning, but a very sad ending. R.I.P. Titanic and 1,500 souls who perished on the night of April 14/15th 1912.
It's just so sad seeing those people on that Ship, waving good-bye to their families and friends, not knowing that they might never see them again, I still have the VHS of this Movie, in its plastic wrapping, in the bookshelf of the family movie room of my house, I also have the DVD and Blu-Ray of this movie too (The Blu-Ray one also in its plastic wrapping).
It’s so sad to think, almost all of the first class women and children survived, and some of second class while most of who perished were first class men, and all the rest of the men, and especially third class (men, women, AND children) Also, there were I think 11? dogs aboard, all of which died except like two which were small and therefore easily managed (one was a Pomeranian) So very tragic.
Makes you feel sorry for the people who died not knowing it was their last moments seeing daylight. Even the scene with the Mini submarine passing by the doll in the room is emotional.
I was lucky to see this film as a child in the theater when it first came out and even luckier to see it again in the theater when it was re- released in 3D. Easily one of my favorite films ever.
I was 12 when I saw the movie for the 1st time when it was re-released in 3D back in 2012. 1 of the BEST movies that 20th Century Fox & Paramount have ever given us.
@Marcelo Medeiros we're talking about 1500 REAL people who had lost their lives painfully. No one cares what Rose knows about Jack Dawson because Rose and Jack are not real.
The scenes that were made to look like they were from 1912 along with her beautiful singing made this intro hit hard. I remember the whole theater went completely silent. This was very well done by James Cameron, Sissel, and all the actors involved.
I remember my mother taking me to the cinema to watch Titanic in 1998. I was nine years old and Titanic still fascinates me today. Intro makes me very emotional. Rip mother, where ever you are.
So sorry for your loss! I was 9 years old too in 1998, even though my mom didnt take me to the cinema to see the movie this intro has always been soo emotional to me. And next week its been 1 year exactly since my mom passed away and this song is more emotional than ever ❤❤❤ RIP to our moms!
Они стоят на палубе, машут руками, такие и счастливые, и для нас- такие обречённые. Волшебный голос Сиссель, словно согрел и поднял их замерзшие души со дна океана.
Who else loves the intro of the movie? It is, in itself, a masterpiece...so hauntingly nostalgic kinda like an old found footage of the real actual Titanic.
He actually managed to beautifully replicate the only known image of titanic leaving port on her maiden voyage. Can be found with a quick google! Unfortunately no video was ever shot of that titanic when she left Southhampton.
@@thesonicgamergal2548 Oh no, there were. That's why we have so many videos of the Olympic. The thing is, most people saw the Titanic as basically the same thing as Oly, so they didn't bother to record her maiden voyage. A huge mistake if you ask me
This is beautiful and sad at the same time i hope all of those poor passengers are all at peace in heaven. Titanic and her tragic story will never be forgotten.
La sensación de ver aparecer la palabra "TITANIC" en plena pantalla de un cine es simplemente impresionante, y más cuando la lanzaron en 3D por el año 2012
This was the first international big movie I have ever seen in my life. I was 9 years old and I can tell that up until today, it is probably one of the best movies ever!
I get the goosebumps every time while seeing the opening credits.. It's very emotional. As a matter of fact, the passengers said goodbye for the first and last time... :'(
So true! This film reminds me of the film Home Alone which never makes me bored watching it over and over again even though we already know the storyline.
When I was a kid, I always thought this was actual footage of real Titanic leaving for America + that old Rose was a real Titanic survivor, so that film was made based on her memories/interviews
@@kopetz071 You must be the only person on this planet who thinks that way about the opening. This opening is perfection. I know people who hate the film but still like to watch the opening because it’s so good.
Wow. Love this intro. Celine got most of the attention from this movie but Sissel, the voice in this intro, gave the movie it's beautifully haunting feel.
Titanic has to be my favorite movie. I grew up as a HUGE Titanic aficionado so I was really excited when I first saw the "Coming Soon" posters in theaters and was even more excited seeing the most realistic reproduction of the ship since "A Night To Remember" (and I was only 8 at the time)
I remember going to the local Blockbuster Video with a friend of mine named Sarah, she wanted to rent some movies, so I decided to go with her, we arrive at Blockbuster Video, went inside, we started looking at all the videos, until we got separated, I was walking down a video Aisle, and was looking at all of the movies, until I stopped and picked up a movie "Good Will Hunting", I turned it around and was reading the back of it, when I noticed a blockbuster video employee walked up the aisle where I was at, and placed this movie on the rack, I put the one that I was reading down, Picked this movie up, I was reading the back, I decided to rent it, I met up with Sarah, we both checked out the movies that we was renting, Sarah took me back to the house, I walked down into the family movie room, turned the TV on, got a bowl of Hot Popcorn with hot butter, a candy bar, a soda pop, I put the first tape of this movie in the VCR, Sat down on the couch, push the play button, and for the last few hours, sat there and watched it in spellbound silence, It was amazing from start to finish, If only there was a faster ship to rescue all of those people, then more lives would've been saved.
I loved a girl when i was 15 when the titanic movie was released. I swore to God, I will watch the movie once I'll be with her. I fought for her but without success. Today at 41 years old, I'm still single, still not watched it. Still meetings her sometimes with her child in the neighborhood... I will never watch it. It takes what it takes
Eu assistir a primeira vez esse filme no cinema , assim que lançou, quando vejo essa abertura , me faz voltar no tempo , uma saudade muito boa da década de 90.
This film won 11 Academy Awards for Best Costume Design, Best Sound, Best Sound Effects Editing, Best Visual Effects, Best Original Dramatic Score, Best Film Editing, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Director and Best Picture.
Hearing the music by James Horner at the start of Titanic just makes me emotional all the time. James Horner really knew how to make really emotional music for movies. My favourite movies James composed is Titanic, Balto, Avatar, Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, The Perfect Storm, The Land Before Time, Jumanji and The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas. It's so sad that he died in a plane crash in 2015. Rest in peace James.
man, even the hyper tecnological subs have a sort of visual poetry in this perfectly made opening. Cameron is a real master, and Sissel's vocals make for such a sad atmosphere
The Titanic was many things; a mechanical marvel, a symbol of hope for man and humanity, an experiment of social and industrial science, and an elloquently crafted piece of kinetic artwork... ...All of which makes her loss even more heartbreaking.
I saw Titanic in theaters last February, when it was re-released in 4K 3D. My soulmate and I had never seen it on the big screen, and let me tell you-hearing this haunting music with surround speakers blew us away. The entire audience clapped as the film began. Watching Titanic on the big screen was an intense, unforgettable night. It was like seeing it for the first time with amplified intensity. The theater was full and although we were all strangers, we all cried together during many scenes. You could hear so much crying and sniffling going around…and it was very surreal. We all applauded during the ending scene, too. Such an unforgettable night
Same except that mine already saw it before but not me. And she didn't expect me to cry, me neither but i don't regret at all. Because it is one of the most beautiful movies i have ever watched in my life and the romance between Rose and Jack makes me loving even more my couple with her. I feel like her and I love each other the same way Rose and Jack did. I was the only one to cry in the theatre but i didn't care, i couldn't bear it anymore because tears came when Rose arrived in New York without Jack
In futility, the ship was merely a plot device. It's the story about the protagonist's survival after the sinking. The ship's similarities come from the author's seaman experience and the ship was sort of a warning of the outdated laws he observed.
Though I am a huge fan of the RMS Titanic, it's her elder sister-ship the RMS Olympic that's always close to my heart first. That liner is a true legend ❤️ The other day as I kept looking at my old Olympic postcard collection (which are more than 100 years old), I played this tune.. simply couldn't hold back my tears.
At the beginning of the song, the boom made me feel like the earth was splitting from east to west. And everyone flew up into the air to the last place. It's so beatiful.
0:59 Those sonar pings, when set against the imagery and vocals, is the most hauntingly beautiful thing in this intro. Especially that descending, fading ping after 1:10 It makes me think about the Voyager 1, still trying to reach back to earth with radio waves.
A beautiful, poignantly nostalgic departure of a doomed Titanic from Southampton, as if we were viewing 1912 sepia-coloured, slow-motion footage. The same scene we see later, in colour, normal motion, with Rose’s recollections. Very well done by James Cameron and +James Horner’s music. Just this one opening scene sums up the entire film in less than a minute. A brilliant piece of movie-making.
I remember finally watching this as an adult with the one I love on Valentine’s Day. When he finally proposed to me I picked out my dress, the venue & and I picked this song to walk down the aisle. We got into a really bad argument and he left- and I haven’t heard from him in about 2 months now. I come back to listen to this everyday - I love that person and he’ll forever have my heart.
I was only born in 1997 I was a baby when they did James Cameron's Titanic I am 21 now I am a big fan of Titanic I seen it 13 times now I been to Belfast where Titanic and her sisters were built my room is full of Titanic posters. Artwork. Music box's. Titanic figure. Books. Heart of the ocean necklaces. Titanic is 106th years old now her sister Britannic be 105th years old in November Titanic film makes me sad for the people that died on her I dream about being Rose Dewitt Bukater on Titanic all the time 💙💙💙💙
