For those that already own Tokyo Highway there is an upgrade pack on kicksterter with the rubber for the sticks, the missions with the new buildings, and the new cars so you don't have to buy the whole game. You don't need to "replace" the whole game

FYI: In the current kickstarter, the basic pledge contains the mission material, as well as the diy rubber stickers for the roads and the new cars.

This was an instant back for me. I love love love Tokyo Highway already and this just makes the game better. I already loved the depth of strategy in the base game, but this moves the needle even further in the direction of strategy over dexterity. I'm very curious how easy it will be to attach the new rubber pads to my original sticks. Hopefully I'll be able to make them indistinguishable from the pre-padded sticks that will be in the 2 player (5-6 player) add on.

I became interested in Tokyo Highway when you reviewed Nekojima. I couldn't find it in stock anywhere and that turned out to be a good thing. It came back even better.

I'm really interested to see how much these rubber additions change the dexterity difficult of this game. If it makes it harder for pieces to fall or knock then I don't feel this is an 'improvement'. It seems it's focusing on completing a impressive looking city rather than the tactics of making it difficult for your opponent to score/build. I own the original and I've thrown in some large wooden first player markers from other games as obstacles to up the difficulty. Having new ways to score etc sounds great and am interested in that. I would have to play or see a playthrough to get a feel how these rubber bits change the tactics of the game.

Thanks Mike. I would like to see some opinion on how it works if you use it *as* an expansion: do you mix old components with the better ones, and how does the difference affect gameplay, if at all? (For example, the rubberized roads make some placements easier?)

The 'Expansion' box has components to upgrade your original game (4 sets of rubberized cars, rubber stickers for the roads), the new missions, and the new landmarks. The rubberized materials do make placement a little more easier.
