I worked on the other side of the Inner Harbor across from the Ritz Carlton and told people for years that Tom Clancy lived over there. Sometimes I’d have to explain and say “the guy that wrote Hunt For Red October!”
This was a well informed, intelligent, critically thinking, direct, honorable, well-spoken man. May he rest in peace. Wish I had had the chance to sit by a fire with a drink in one hand, cigar in the other, and just talk with this man. That would have been a most enjoyable evening.
Tom Clancy was a visionary. We're in 2020 and with the Coronavirus epidemic, this rings so true. May the US crush the Red Peril that is China. RIP Tom Clancy
I said words to this effect on another video and perhaps lacked context. I feel Rainbow Six was prophetic in some aspects, I've not seen hard evidence COVID was weaponised, nor do I expect any forthcoming. However I think Rainbow Six gave us some perspective on what a worldwide virus could do, and thank God, no one has used the vaccine to bargain with.
I think I’ll have to go with Clear & Present Danger as #1 but Without Remorse, particularly Clark’s “hunting” on the streets of Baltimore is damn good.
I had trouble finding an actual copy of this book for a long time when I was younger. I actually came into possession of the audio book first. Every time I hear Michael Prichard say "IN...... OUT" In his Bondarenko voice I bust up laughing
Oddly enough they had several interviews together. I think he was just annoyed by dumb questions. Tom was just on another intellectual level that so few journalists could get on.
That's a great question. Clearly our relationship with Russia now is nothing like what it was in the books... And neither is our relationship with China.
What a disrespecting of the author. This is a confrontational reporter. Let him try to write such successful novels. Intimidating the author is not an interview but rather an attempt to tell the audience, "Look how smart I am. Please delete this interview.
He was a great author, I enjoyed his novels immensely. But his prejudice against my own ethnicity was evident in several novels. He didn't think very highly of Black people in America.
Hi! Not completely true. In Without Remorse novel it may have been like that but in many novels there were Robbie Jackson, Bronco Winters (a fighter pilot) and Marion Diggs (Brigadier General) and several other heroes.
@@MrGrace yeah and actually if you checked the news in without remorse movie Michael B. Jordan is Clark. So many cultural changes. Those people how had high positions in novels were white but many heroes from different countries. In Bear And The Dragon there were ex-Soviet Military sniper who didn't want that his house would went down. That was very touchy and sad storyline.
@@sw-ww4bb or maybe you just weren't paying attention to the n-word jokes and denigrating references all throughout his books. Its easy to miss because he makes the CHARACTER express those ideas, so its not like it comes directly from Clancy hinself. But anyone who can think of those ideas must believe them somewhat.
