As a Mexican American, I’m very happy and proud of Mr. Flores, to not only represent the Raiders in the HOF but to also represent the Latino community. His legacy will live for ever. I will teach my future children about this man and show them that he looks just like them so they can continue on his legacy and know they can accomplish anything in life.

As always, Coach Flores reaction remains consistent: big moment, remains calm with glimpses of emotion, and deflects the accolades while celebrating others. Congratulations sir, you are a class act.

Not a Raider fan, but this is about as close to perfect as you can get. They made a special trip two weeks before the announcement to convey the news to Tom at Palm Springs. Note to the wife and Tom: If the owners shows up with Dave Baker, you know it's real! Dave Baker is good at these things, but this one appeared much more heartfelt and you could sense a different level of emotion coming out of him as he spoke those magical words. I love it when the AFLer's get their due, and Tom was in the league as a player for the entire 10 year run. A perfect hire by Davis to replace Madden. Flores has always struck me as humble, and boy did he know how to manage people! Well done and well deserved!

Still learning about the great history of the raiders, he and his team is where I started my love for football. Just win baby

This just broke me down. I grew up in Fresno, 10 minutes away from Coach Flores hometown of Sanger. When I broke in the news business as a budding sports reporter, the first story I covered was the Sanger vs Bakersfield Christian section title game played on Tom Flores Field in 2007. As a Raiders fan who grew up in the Central Valley, Coach Flores is the epitome of what was possible. I'm Black but a ton of my friends were (and still are) Hispanic and with good reason, Coach and Jim Plunkett are their guys. I'm proud as a member of Raider Nation, as a man who has gotten to meet Coach Flores, and as someone who loves this history of our team and the game. God willing, I'm going to be there in Canton this summer to watch Coach Flores and Charles Woodson take their rightful place in immortality. Well earned, beyond well deserved.

Best thing I’ve seen in a long long time! So happy for Coach Flores and his family! Thank you for sharing this, and allowing a great coach, a great man, get into the HOF while he is still with us! Thee first Mexican-American head coach in the NFL! This is huge! I’m German/Scottish /Swedish American and Mexican-American, and I’m aware what a huge deal this is for not only the many Mexican-American Raider fans, but the Latino community as a whole, and for all Americans and Raider fans! One of the many reasons why , since I was 8 years old in 1976, the great maddon team with The Snake, Tooz, The assassin, Lester the molester Hayes you name it , the players that bridged that gap between that team and the 1982 team! It’s just a whole team of HOF caliber players and people! MR Al Davis was a trailblazer, and why I always defend him, any person that can go against everyone , and ensure everyone has an equal opportunity, a level playing field. Mr Davis hired the first Mexican-American head coach Flores, the first Afro-American head coach Art Shell, hired the first Female Executive, Amy Trask! In my eyes, any human being that can do that, in a time no one was, has got to be a decent good human being! I only wish Mr Al Davis was here to slip the jacket on Coach Flores but his son Mark is a chip off the ol block! What an honor, and this made me feel really good! Damn MFers made a grown man shed a tear! Congrats Coach!

Raider legend, the man, the embodiment of what being a RAIDER is.

Growing up outside of Chicago I’ve always been a Bears fan. But in the 60s & 70s although they had some great players they just didn’t have it as a team. So I had a back up team and that was the Oakland Raiders. Loved everything about them. So congratulations to Coach and Raider Nation.
