My personal opinion is that the Mets ownership and front office have never deserved either the players or the fans they've had. Never. People who played and cheered their hearts out for their beloved team only to be disrespected over and over again. It's really a shame.
Even years later after he was well retired he is still emotional and upset about being traded. This is by far the worst decision the mets front office made.
Straight-up labor issue! When the owner calls you communist, especially back then. Grant wanted to set an example of who was in charge. Typical of the war between owners v. players, back then! Man, was that a bad example.....!!!!!!!!
