To me, this was peak NASCAR on TNT.
Tony Stewart was brought in for a guest commentator appearance in the 2003 Funai 250 NASCAR Busch Series telecast. Tony had been doing one-offs for several years, dating back to 2000 and TBS. On this night, Tony had some hilarious exchanges, especially with the telestrator. He had an exciting race to call with Johnny Sauter using the bump and run to take the win, the only win in the Xfinity Series for the #43 Curb-Agajanian team.
Meanwhile, Benny Parsons couldn't stay away. He ended up trying out different positions in the telecast, from cameraman, to graphics, to the replay room, and ending with catering (resurrection of Buffet Benny lol). It actually was good exposure to all of the behind the scenes folks who don't get a lot of credit for the hard work they do to pull off a NASCAR broadcast.
