Too much broccoli - is it possible?

Brussel sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli… some people might straight-up salivate after hearing these words, while others might recoil in disgust. And even though cruciferous veggies are the darlings of the Plant Paradox “Yes” list, the point of this video is NOT to force-feed you more broccoli. Besides, some people simply can’t tolerate large amounts of these fiber-packed veggies (digestive issues, anyone?). That’s why in THIS video, Dr. Gundry provides some nutrient-dense alternatives to cruciferous veggies. So if you’re dying to find a healthy alternative to cauliflower, or simply looking to spice up the “vegetable” section of your grocery list, this video is for you!

@@nancythornton2947 just grate cabbages (half a head)add a spoon of salt and keep it in your room temperature for an hour covering with towel.then start pounding it with a tool or use your hand to knead them like a dough for few minutes then add baby kales or you can chop green leaves or add them in your jar in any shapes. When all your veggies are in a small tall jar just keep pressing them until the juices come on top .you should have enough juice if not just add a bit water.you want everything under the brine. just place a zipper bag on top of the jar and fill it with water a bit to keep everything under . Label the jar and place in your kitchen top for 3-5 days.you can tell if it’s ready by smell it after few days.you can also taste the water to see if it taste like pickle.just use enough salt otherwise it goes bad.

Dear doctor gundry, I love your podcast and have been following your diet 4 18 months trying to improve my type 1 diabetes. I have your cookbook and enjoy all of the wonderful recipes. I am hearing about AGEs Advanced glycation end products due to roasting, grilling ,searing, etc. Some of my favorite recipes such as buffalo cauliflower and roasted veggies use high heat for roasting, which causes them to be absolutely delicious. I just want to have more clarity and peace of mind about the AGEs. Thank you!

I grew up in the South and we ate a lot of turnip greens. The schools served it and now it reminds me of my childhood. Cornbread was also popular however unfortunately not on the Gundry diet. My grandparents ate buttermilk cornbread and lived in their mid 90's and were very healthy until the end. Then again they grew a lot of their own veggies so that probably contributed.

The iodine-stealing property of cruciferous vegetables is nullified when the cruciferous vegetables are cooked or fermented. (Canola and soy (not a cruciferous vegetable) are still problematic.) And if your hypothyroidism is caused by Hashimoto's disease rather than iodine deficiency, even raw cruciferous vegetables may be fine. thyroidpharmacist.com/articles/what-are-goitrogens-and-do-they-matter-with-hashimotos/ And please feel free to reach out to me regarding thyroid and other health-related inquiries. www.davidsdirectory.com/the-directory/hashimotos-disease

Perhaps people in this situation have been eating too much millet or with the wrong spreads on it. Would be good to get a reply on this. Still love his podcast and theory.

There are a number of things that are OK if pressure cooker but nothing about how long to pressure cook them to be sure the lectins are removed or lowered significantly? Some things seem obvious, like beans, but what about fresh tomatoes or squash?

My favorite way to eat califlower is make low carb version of "halusky" with them ... basically i replace the tiny dumplings with the califlower pieces and then put all the usual halusky toppings on it :) (brynza, bacon, optionally extra vegies)

One question. What is your take on rye bread made with whole grain? I come from Denmark and we eat a lot of it every day. It is said to be healthy and fiber rich.
@JBSbass
@JBSbass 2 года назад
grains contain inflammatory lectins......whole and processed......and are a very heavy carb......which if doing a low carb diet you should avoid. I dont eat breads/pastas full stop.....and am way better for it in body weight and digestion. Whoever told you bread is healthy is full of it.....drop it from your diet and you'll see a change in body composition very quickly!

Whole grains including wheat, rye and barley are not accepted on the Gundry diet because of the lectins, breads made with alternative floors like blanched almond or cassava are ok

@Notsure R The recipe for the keto bread is 1/3 cup of ground almonds (I like it with the skins on because it has more flavour; you can buy raw almonds and put them in your food processor to grind), 1/2 tsp baking powder, one Tbsp olive or avocado oil (or any non-processed oil that is good for you), 1 egg. Mix really well. Cook in microwave on high for a minute or so. let cool a bit and slice crosswise. Can also be toasted. I cook mine in a 4 x 4 inch container. It is the perfect size for this

In Portugal we have the ancient habit to eat the sprouts of several different cabbages, the sprouts of turnip too. Watercress its very nice too. A very nutritive plant also: Common Purslane (Scientific name: Portulaca oleracea). Pennywort (Umbilicus rupestris), nice to eat. There are plenty of very good plants to discover and eat.

Dr Gundry isn't a fan of sprouts, he says to eat micro greens instead which are sprouts with the leaves on them 🤣

Hi our family loves nightshades, legumes, Italian foods. I read Plant Paradox, and I would like to learn more about how long to rinse and run the pressure cooker for different beans, lentils, green beans from the garden. And how effective par boiling and deserving is for the tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, cucumbers, squashes, and pumpkin pies. And a pasta substitute that really has the same texture. I have added in many principles from you, Dr Ekberg, and eat right America. I have noticed you are continuing the research, the newsletter, and I have learned to make almond cookies but not bread yet. I second the request for cooking videos. Thanks Dr G. I have lost most of my junk body fat and brain fog, and lethargy. I'm almost totally on the PP diet, lectin and soy free. You are really helping a huge number of people!

Hi Dr Grundy I would like to know more about oats. I have learnt that oats is the one seed that actually contains very little gluten and that it is healthy. Also that if you make proper sourdough bread of rye, you minimise lectins . What is your advice about these 2 topics? Brgds Carina from Sweden
