Hello, What do you know and what do you think on bio (hormonal) pellets? For whom are they not good?? If menopace started, is it possible to put the body back and have a child?
@drekberg THANK YOU for all of the informational videos about sugar impacting insulin and diabetes. May I make a request? Can we have a video on how sugar affects our blood pressure? If one exists already, please point me to it. THANKS, AGAIN!
Another excellent video Dr Eckberg. ❤. Age 64 and the healthiest I've been in 30 yrs. Reversed t2d, and off all meds bc of listening to your videos in the past 2 yrs. You are saving lives.
Thank you @mariaash1272 for sharing your great results and helping inspire others. That is so awesome. I am thrilled that you have seen such great results. Keep it up! 😄
I am very happy to read at 64 and the healthiest you have been In 30 yrs . Thanks for listening to Dr Eckberg what a great human being on our planet Earth. From Johannesburg South Africa 🇿🇦
It’s incredibly ironic that ads for Jardiance and meds for inflammatory related illnesses are constantly interrupting Dr Ekberg’s videos. I think they’ve gotten their target audiences mixed up. Those ads should be running during videos promoting eating the SAD 🙁
I really admire how you call out all these companies who keep people unhealthy and make ridiculous profits! Thank you ; we should keep working to stay healthy and educate our family mds. I am 76 and enjoying a healthy keto lifestyle!
In my 50s and just now learning how the standard American diet ruined my life. I'm having to work extra hard to reverse/fix the damage it's caused me: weight, hormones, skin, mental, and fertility. This way of thinking is still being pushed today as healthy and children are suffering for it! Thank goodness for these channels unveiling the truth of how these foods affect the body and hormones and mental well-being in turn. I just started my journey and am still learning.
Thank you @Latoija for sharing your great results and helping inspire others. That is so awesome. I am thrilled that you have seen such great results. Keep it up! 😄
As a society, we have become lazy. The old saying buyer beware is more important today, then ever. Do your research! It isn’t rocket science to realize packaged food is just a money maker for profiting companies that only care about their bottom line and not our health. Love your vids and explanations ❣️
Thank you @roxanneben1222. Indeed not rocket science, but it still something that eludes the masses since sales run in the Trillions. Spread the message Health Champions 😄
@@drekberg and I was one of them. Decided that my health was important and went down that rabbit hole. I continue to do so, because the knowledge I have now is irreplaceable. No longer pre-diabetic, although I'm sure I was type-2. I have lost 64 lbs and kept it off by going low carb and only one ingredient foods. Healthier in my 60's than I was in my 40's. :)
@@roxanneben1222 these convenience foods have value-added. That's why you don't have to spend as much time and effort to prepare them. So for certain circumstances and certain times they may be okay. I wouldn't bash businesses just because they find Market. You still have your freedom of choice and let them have their freedom of choice I don't think it's greedy at all. It's a lot of work to start a business if you don't believe me try it see if you can become the Walton family. As for myself if it has writing on it I don't buy it. And that includes a Sunkist Orange LOL😁 even Eggland's Best are doctored up a little bit you can have chickens in most cities if you have 15 feet between your houses so raise your own food. When I was a little kid I thought EB on those eggs stood for Easter Bunny LOL
@Here to Learn it's human nature to look for the easiest way. You have to fight against emotions like that you have to have it in your head that you're going to put the work in to do the right thing it's just a lifestyle difference we all get lazy if we allow ourselves
I love your straight talking so much that I sometimes laugh out loud when you speak the truth, calling processed packet foods "garbage" and pointing out that those lawyers have too much spare time on their hands. Keep saying it as it is, thank you.
I'm 62 yy, not vaccinated and I have done exactly the opposite that FDA says. I eat fat meat and fish, eggs, little veggies (I don't like them) NO pizza, pasta cereals or vegetable oils, only EVOO and butter...!!! Great video.
My wife just figured this out when her doctor recommended a low fat/high fiber grain diet to lower cholesterol. Her cholesterol stayed the same, HDL ⬇️, triglyceride ⬆️ and glucose ⬆️, weight was same. She has now joined me living LC. She had and addiction to carbs and never realized it.
@@sgtSerGUNt Beer is the worst, in my opinion. It’s heavy on carbs, plus you have the alcohol in it- so two ways it can get you hooked. And yes, I agree that carbs are addictive. The hardest part of a person changing their diet is to give up the carbs, since the body is used to relying on that for energy. Low carb high fat seems like a much better alternative. Ever noticed how many former US presidents and politicians live long lives? While you and I were stuffing our faces with carbs, they were probably eating high fat, low carb diets. Could have been a “well kept” secret all along.
@@fgjf1079 Beer is not bad, at least for me. I have been drinking beer almost all my life, and my weight has always been about the same in 40+ years. My weight is just in the middle of the healthy BMI index! Of course, if someone is drunk day after day, that is not healthy. But beer is one of the purest drinks available: not more than 3 or 4 ingredients plus water. High carbs, yes, but these are fermented carbs which is different.
I have a lawn & landscape maintenance business in central Florida (US), and just this past Thursday I was talking with one of my customers, and the subject of diet came up. And my customers says he has discovered this doctor on you tube who talks about proper diet, who he really likes. A bald guy, former Olympic decathlete for Sweden, and I immediately blurt out "Dr Ekberg!" and tell him you are one of my favorites. He is trying to change his diet for the better, so I told him yes, this is one of the channels he should be watching. I also gave him the names of Dr Ken Berry, and Dr Eric Westman, 2 other of my faves who are big proponents of low carb, keto, and even carnivore way of eating. So word is spreading!
@@mettamorph4523 i am NOT a fan of Joel Furman’s plant-based agenda, but I do like his acronym CRAP (= Calorie-Rich And Processed) and I love the punchy way he says, “Cut the CRAP.” Okay, calories are an outdated concept, but still... that is gold! 😂
I like his G-BOMBS acronym. Greens, beans, onions, mushrooms, berries, seeds&nuts. That's what we all need to eat. I lost 43 lbs with Joel. He and Ekberg agree on many things, but there are differences in their philosophies.
I think this information is so important Dr. Ekberg. Thank you for talking about the new guidelines. There is so much information out there that it is so difficult to understand why the guidelines aren't more low carb/keto friendly. Thank you for putting that information out there, and for the effort you put into your videos! I am so grateful! My health has you to thank, and best wishes to you and your future endeavors!
The word cereal just means grain... breakfast cereals began very simply with little or no sugar, and the consumer can still find pretty simple ones. Besides pure grains like oatmeal, I find for example Dorset muesli (with added nuts, seeds and fruit) is not too bad. Lately I enjoy buckwheat (not really a cereal, a seed) with a handful of organic blueberries, it's so easy on the system. If people can't avoid sugar cereals packed with junk, they're not trying very hard. Marketing and craving wrong foods has got the better of them.
Here in Illinois making future plans on visiting Wellness For Life. Just finished watching, “What happens when you fast video!” Was on my way to the liquids that you suggested during fasting because I was on grapefruit for the last 5 days and gone down in pounds from 331lbs to 323 as of today!
Thank you Doc! More people need to watch this video and learn about all the crap added to breakfast foods like cereals !! 😮 appreciate all your hard work and effort to help people understand what is good and bad for us !!❤🙏🙏🤗
no way, bro. according to the Tufts University Food Compass, Lucky Charms is super healthy! and Cheerios are the healthiest! Tufts is universally respected as leaders in the field of diet and nutrition. their standards have already been adopted by schools & hospitals!
Thank you @mydailyreviewsdotcom. We each have responsibility to learn enough to take care of ourselves, and then vote with out wallets. If no-one buys it, they stop making it. 😄
So grateful to have access to this information through your videos. Its sad to see so many people still tricked into thinking junk is healthy by the corrupt food companies.
Most yogurts have so much added fruit and sugars, they ought to be considered desserts under the Standard American Diet. It is a challenge to find a full fat yogurt, with a good amount of protein and little to no added sugar. My go-to brands of yogurt are: Two Good plain yogurt with 3 g of carbs, 12 g of protein and 1.5 g of saturated fat; and Chobani Whole Milk plain yogurt with 7 g carbs, 16 g of protein and 6 g of saturated fat. Sometimes I give them a boost by adding a tablespoon of ground flax/chia seed blend, cinnamon, a few walnuts or pecans, and a few blackberries. It becomes a meal that provides satiety and boosts the health benefits with added Omega 3s, Omega 6s, antioxidants, phytonutrients and some fiber. No food manufacturer will put these together in a packaged food, so I end up making this…and other healthier versions of foods…for myself. I’m not waiting on the government to protect me and I’m not counting on corporate America to package truly healthy foods anytime soon.
Thank you so much for the really trustworthy information you provide, Dr. Sten! Our consumer's rights to know what we are ingesting are overtly run over by the food industries and their well paid laywers. Your work here is a must needed public health guideline!!!
The box design, advertising and entertaining flavours of Froot Loops is amazing. It is palatal entertainment which I loved when I was a kid... and my sister equally loved Cap'n Crunch. We were allowed to eat these occasionally as a treat yet were given mostly real, healthier food. Because we did not have nutritionally lazy parenting, we fell into adult patterns of eating properly.
Didn't like those awful cereals or that bread that was referred to as a WONDER. Glad I grew up on real food. Keeping those imposters to a minimum is key to better health and less reliance on the medical community ❤
At 80 I have finally understood what works and what does not work for me thanks to you. A1C is now under control and my glucose is at a very low level in the range now after losing over 60 lbs in 20 months. Thanks.
@onekerri1 Not everyone on this channel speaks English as a native language. And typos are not the end of the world. Perhaps we can show a little forbearance.
Thank you for all of the work you do. Fasting and low carb and looking at the very concept of reducing insulin resistance started with my brother and I and has spread to my parents and one sister. We are all getting healthier by the month!
Love your stuff. I now eat one ingredient food or minimal ingredients reduced sugar to almost nothing have not been sick in years take no medication lost over 30 pounds am stronger than I was at 40. Just eat real food problem solved.
Good talk. It reminds me of the public health nutrition graduate seminars I used to sit through at UMASS SPHHS, not to forget the many talks at many APHA annual conventions.
Hi Dr. Sten Ekberg, When I read the news a few weeks ago, I was wondering about how you would respond to it. Thank you for the video. You are spot on. I thought the same way you do. I think lawsuits are good. We got to bring these deceptive, greedy big food associations and foundations to justice for their evil works. I'm tired of looking at our kids are looking sick fat and always want to eat junk foods. This is a serious national problem for our kid's education. Also, the arm forces are having problems recruiting normal healthy people because most of them want to join but their bodies and health can't make it. That's a serious national security problem.
Of course we rarely hear or see anything related to this via the media. This is great news from the FDA “if” they follow through and stop taking that hush money. Thank you as always Dr Sten! I’m very thankful.
Dr. Ekberg, thank you for delivering very complex information in an easy to understand and concise manner. Please consider creating a video for teenagers to highlight maybe not so much the IF, but the harmful qualifies of the foods they favor, and showing them that there is a better way. Somehow it’s always someone else’s opinion that matters more to the teenagers than that of their parents. Thank you.
I did not think the cold cereals you referred to were ever healthy. My mother never purchased that kind of cereal and as an adult neither have I. I may be wrong about this, but I don't think many people would change their eating habits due to that change. People do not eat frozen pizza because they think it is healthy.
My mom used to call those processed breakfast cereals “shunt” because she said you shunt (Shouldn’t) eat them. Mind you, she was nevertheless an oversized hangry human, addicted to just other foods I suppose.😮
Could you do a video on household items that might be harming you? Maybe a type of heating or air system that is using bad technologies or chemicals, go into candles and the benefits or negatives of them, and even clothes. though I think you have mentioned these before in separate videos, but I think a consolidated video would be good and educational :)
I suffered. I went low carb and dropped all grain products, tomato, spinach, dairy and sugar. Slowly my gastric problems went away. For a test, I ate wheat thin crackers for 3 days and wow bad upset again. I suffered badly for decades and my diet change has been a blessing.
Thanks Dr Ekberg. I credit your videos over the last three months for giving me correct guidelines to reverse diabetes (a1c 5.9->5.2), reverse fatty liver (girth lost 1.75 inches), (ALT 69->22), and lower my cholesterol that matters (tri 199->77). But I feel like we've left most of the world behind? My doctors visit last week was like stepping back into the dark ages and listening to the nonsense and superstition that was common before the Renaissance!
When I last went to the doctor, I was told that sodium could make blood pressure go up. After doing my own research, I found that a deficiency in potassium could also be the reason, as potassium helps excrete the excess sodium in the system. Also, most people are deficient in potassium. So, the doctor was partially right, but she failed to talk about the other half of the equation(potassium). So in reality, sodium levels could be fine, but one could be deficient in potassium. The problem I have is that doctors will then prescribe blood pressure meds(which are difficult to come off of), when you really only needed to take some potassium to begin with.
Finally...Fir many years, I have stayed away from the middle isles of the store except for a few items like olive oil, tea, spices, occasional stevia... I have argued with family about this. At 71, the oldest of my siblings, I have low blood pressure, blood sugar levels low, cholesterol low, no arthritis. Theirs is high and take prescriptions for all these, even insulin. They laugh at me but I still lecture them. Good to know some manufacturers of their foods have to improve a little because my siblings are addicted to these things.
I could not believe it around 20 years ago (when I knew none of this, really) that they started putting sugar on the raisins in raisin bran! Common sense says that’s stupid. I just bought plain bran and added my own raisins until I learned to eat the way I do now.
Thank you very much Dr Ekberg for shearing very valuable informations based on your knowledge in science, physiology biochemistry anatomy.....God bless you ! From Ontario Canada ❤
I agree with you that there are many foods on shelves that aren’t healthy. If all of them were taken off the shelves, would there be enough food for people to eat?
You should be a government public service division for health. Can you do a video on Apple Watch health tools and what they really mean? What’s healthy data what’s not? HRR, BPM, VOX2 max, Sinus Rhythm etc. Much confusion over what is healthy indicators and what is not coming out of that device.
Thank you Dr. Ekberg for providing this update! It is progress, even though we know that they could go much further. Let's all cross our fingers that things will progress.
great video. May I suggest making one about peoples coffee habits. Starbucks mega coffee cocktails seem to have gone down a bit in popularity but people are still ordering giant iced lattes full of sugar as a daily habit sipping on it all morning. No break for the insulin sheesh
@@cathi7610 it really isn't. It's addictive but only for about a week so once you break the cycle for a week and you have an alternative plan for what real food you're gonna eat and how you're gonna eat it you should be good. The problem is the constant snacking. A proper breakfast lunch and dinner (real food, no processed preflavored, precolored nonsense), maybe throw in a 12 hour fast once a month to recalibrate insulin levels as well. Make a commitment to never visit fastfood chains.
FDA got a big fight on their hands but hope they prevail against these greedy conglomerates who have no interest in healthy food and more into healthy profits
I remember when breakfast used to be promoted as either cereal, toast w/butter or margarine, orange juice and half of a grapefruit ... or bacon, pancakes, eggs, toast w/ butter or margarine, half a grapefruit, a glass of milk and a glass of orange juice. The latter was the better choice, but still full of carbs and sugar. As a kid, a popular sugary cereal and sugary Pop Tarts and orange juice was Saturday morning breakfast. I lived off of sugar, yet I ended up in good health, somehow, and had no cavities. I'm glad I stopped eating like that and learned about intermittent fasting.
@@carolsummers8734 I used to love the Quaker Oats instant oatmeal packets that came 8 in a box. Oatmeal Raisin, Apples and Cinnamon, and Maple w/Brown Sugar were my favorites. Can't forget Swiss Miss hot cocoa w/marshmallows.
I agree with your assessment…..By these guidelines most all fresh meat and seafood would no longer be able to be called healthy …which is very worrisome indeed !!!
I don’t know it this is coming a little late but I’ve bought the blood work course and it’s been very helpful. If you require any testimonials, I’d be glad to share my experience for others to benefit.
In Mexico we made this change, on the labeling side, still a work in process but it would be interested a video analyzing this new food labels in Mexico. Cheers Doc.
When I was young, I was always jealous of the kids who got froot loops and such for breakfast. Until one day we toured the factory in Michigan where they are made, I received a complimentary box, and was able to try then. I was never jealous of those kids ever again.
@@drekberg Oh definitely. Saturday morning TV in the 80s provided a steady diet of food propaganda. And that was before the "healthy" foods started appearing on the market (sugary granola bars, sports drinks, etc), adding another layer of deception.
When I was very young we ate cooked multi grain porridge for bereakfast in the early '60's. Then the cereal in boxes came onto the market. Mother's bought them. I think it was in ignorance. Previously they had no reason to distrust food producers. I had my share of Count Chocula, Fruit Loops, Lucky Charms, Apple Jack's, and my favourite,, Frosted Flakes.
#1 thing you can do is educate yourself and your families. FDA might as well leave it alone because the outcome will most certainly lead to much higher food prices. The food empires will just pass on the expenses to the consumer.
Doc, thank you for the video. I have 1 question. Sometimes in product it says that there is a sugar in ingredients but at the same time the nutritional value says 0 total sugars. How is it possible?
I believe in that the food, which components with high carbohydrates and various oils of plants could be assaulting our body, health, and life. Slowly but surely.
As usual another great motivation video. Guidelines still misleading the world population. As far I'm concerned I don't take all the unhealthy food. Grains is not miracle food. Thank you for sharing Mr. Ekberg. God blessed 🙏..
Dr… can you pls make a video on millets ( there are different types ) that our country is promoting as a substitute for rice. India accounts for 20% of the global millet production and it would be immensely benefit us if you could do your research and make a video on it. Thank you dr for all your videos and I have lost 8 kilos in just over 2 months following all your mantra about intermittent fasting
Cold pressed canola oil is not uncommon in Denmark, but its still a bad cooking oil, due to it having an extremely low smoke point. But its a bit orange wich is cool.
In Mexico we had the government forcing the food industry to put tags/labels in all packaged foods (e.g. High sugars, excessive calories, etc.) What several companies did to avoid the labels was changing the formulas. Now synthetic sugars are in the rise in all those garbage products so maybe obesity will be diminished a few % points but the microbiome will suffer.
@@carolsummers8734 hey random non sequitur, but hey, since you sort of kind of asked, never wanted those because they didn't have visible coatings of pure sugar. As a bonus, do you remember what was EVEN BETTER than Kellogg's Raisin Bran? Crispy Wheats'n'Raisins. Look it up ... sugarcoated sugar! Yum, post-disco faux health fads.
I just love your videos....I have learnt over the years about food, but I have got most knowledge listening to a lot of videos out there...some contradict each other but your videos suit my lifestyle and some things you have taught me and some I already know. I learnt many years ago to cut the sugar out and I just think simple....I eat some dairy like butter and cheese but can't tolerate milk. My body reject beer, wine and grains...they are not good for my digestion. Cutting out the carbs as well eating less bread I have never felt so well with energy throughout the day and I was never like this taking sugar in my tea and eating chocolates and cakes at work when they where dished out....my cravings where bad for something sweet. Because I cut these foods out years ago I feel a lot better. I just think simple food, fish, meat, vegetables, no sauces in jars no cereals etc ...not too many carbs...fasting for 12 hours I never feel to faint or anything and still feel energy....I think your body tells you what it does not like. And supermarket there are only a few things I go to buy but many aisles I walk past as they don't serve me well they are toxic aisles....keep up the good work I look forward to your videos.
If I had serious money I would provide CGMs to my countrymen and let them figure out that, as Dr Unwin says, starch molecules are just lots of sugar molecules holding hands, ie, starchy foods ARE sugary foods!😮
I saw some documentaries called fat a documentary and its sequel on youtube and they showed that people were getting diabetes and having health problems and amputations from eating refined carbs/sugar i think.
Educational, Great information for a healthy living. Sadly, food promoters still putting money and profit as priority regarding Health, ( criminal) Knowledge is power, it is the only way to be in control of our health and the rest. Thank you for sharing such a great info for all! Greetings from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 🌹🌹🌹 Edith, a happy Subscriber
Hi, you are right that some foods are too high in sodium and sugar. The amount of foods we eat is important. A little bit of a food high in sugar may be the same as a very large portion of a food that is labeled as good.
Good Video. The FDA can do a lot of good proposing regulations, but delaying implementation. Just getting the discussion into the public domain helps change public perception as to what is and is not healthy. No rules, no lawsuits but the effect of changing people's behavior is the desired outcome. As in tobacco, public opinion changes and then it may be the government suing the companies hawking poisons under the guise of food.
Cold pressed and unfiltered rapeseed oil and sunflower oil are very interesting for homemade mayonnaise. They have not such a strong flavour and bitterness as would have olive oil ..
