One reason I think Fourth Age isn't talked about that much is definetly the Third Age mod to M2TW. It's just such a good and popular mod that I think people forget about the RTW mod
Yeah. It's a really a shame many people don't talk about it as much as Third Age, I heard majority of people complaining that Tolkien didn't had time to flesh it out. I think the FATW is pretty balance, aspects like population, building tech tree, unit rosters, fortress, and for the highlight, the soundtracks. Some of those were made by David Arkenstone. Underrated composer I might say. Try listen to his Middle-earth album!!! It's a pretty great album and also could compete with LOTR soundtrack imo...
Could weirdly never get into eb. I appreciate the effort that was put it though but personally it feels to slow for me. I like mods that still have a bit of a vanilla feel e.g the recent barbarian empires mod. Makes vanilla even better

Of course EB. Nothing really even comes close in my book. When i first saw the tomb of Alexander in Alexandria i was floored. The level of historical accuracy and detail will have you reading as much as you are fighting.
@@dimostychalas9716 well fair enough, too bad the battle scaling was divised by a fat neckbeard whose never left his mums basement and only knowlege of realistic combat comes from playing warhammer tabletops. Last time i used that mod i laughed myself sick watching my elite units hold out for days as a small dot within a giant a swarm of decent units. lol! btw, was using the recommended hard difficulty for battle.
Darthmod was my enterence into Rome Total War mods. I played it because i just wanted more Rome Total War than the base game has to offer. Next to the map changes, it made some minor factions more playable with new buildings i think (it's literally been years since i played it). Had good fun with Macedon, Britannia and Numidia. That last campaign seems to have made the biggest impression on me, because it just seemed like an impossible campaign. The difficulty just made it fun though. A hard war to beat Carthage, and then the Romans show up and all hell breaks lose. I remember i had to grind myself through Sicily and southern Italy killing army after army with skirmish tactics. Also after that i played Roma Surrectum & 1 or 2 other mods. But for now i still had the most fun with Darthmod!
darth mod is really good. removes the militia units, removes peasants and gives out the rebel settlements to appropriate powers. everyone seems to get bigger armies. and is able to fund bigger armies, so you just end up with a huge clusterfuck pretty quickly
Melkor i am extremely mad at you and the community too! :D Well some modes that people may be interested and personal favorites SOMNIVM APOSTATAE IVLIANI : it is about Julian the apostate Constantine the second and their successors the barbarians are in full tilt undoubtedly the hardest total war experience i ever had.(You an play as the barbarians too if you are one :P )It has insane historical accuracy the most i have ever seen and it has absolutely terrifying battles(My favorite mod) Hegemonia City States:About the greco persian and peloponesan war you can play as any nation you like and truly city models and unit models are the prettiest i have ever seen every battle is to be screenshoted!
@@grantaum9677 it sure is the mod added the island where the city was unique units but sadly the game crashed after ending the turn if i remember correctly it has been many years since i played it
Darthmod is what Vanilla RTW should have been. Everything is the same except a more detailed and accurate campaign map which, properly represents the strengths of each faction as the campaign time goes by. For example Parthia becomes a proper superpower in the east to rival Rome in late game. I dont find Europa Barbarorum and Roma Surrectum interesting because they feel like totally different games, I mean I prefer the Vanilla mechanics much more.
I'd be more interested in trying some of these mods if they kept bronze age egypt. I don't care that it's not historically accurate, it's fun and it's what I'm nostalgic for.
For Medieval 2 Total War I think it would be a close call between Lord of the Rings and the Game of Thrones mods( I lost count how many GoT mods for Med 2 there are)
I Just Downloaded Extended Cultures. I really Reminds me of Rome 2 in Units,They are Really Well Structured compared to the Original Units,They are far more. With Interesting Factions, Bosporus, Gaul(Britannia),Pergamum. Etc. Although The Battle can Get Chaotic sometimes (Although that may be Because I'm playing at Bosporus and have Nomads as Enemies). Personally Really like this Mode, Because it has Nice Money making ways, Really Nice Rosters and A lot of interesting Factions.
Rafael Ruiz - hoggy went on to work in 3D modelling. There was a later version which was mod foldered and patched to 1.9 fixing a lot of the bugs. Probably still available via TWC.
What about Rome Total History Mod, it is the mod which has sooo much stuff added it is crazy with a lot of new buildings, units, map extenision, etc... I learned so much new stuff from that one and the name says it all. It is a masterpiece this mod. This mod impressed me most from all the mods and has a lot more to offer than the most famous mods like darth mod and others.
Some other good mods are Ran no Jidai, Warhammer Total War, Chivalry Total War. Edit: Rise of Persia, Hegemonia City States too (though unfortunately is buggy).
There were two very promising mods, Hegemonia City States and Rise of Persia, which were sadly abandoned. They are both in unfinished but mostly playable states though. There's also Viking Invasion, a re-creation of the expansion of Medieval 1 which was cool. Couldn't get that one to work with Steam though. Also I've been thinking of playing a mod that enhances the vanilla experience instead of totally overhauling it. Out of Extended Cultures and Vanilla Enhancement, which was one is better recommended?
There's also Viking Invasion 2, which is really good, especially with the Dominion of Britannia submod. It's a recreation of Medieval 1's expansion on the Rome engine.
the mod i play is holland toral war, its just a fun mod to play thats all, so, i'm interrest to know new mods like the one's i know, but to me, a mod is just mod
The modding I've done is mostly to improve unit rosters. Like giving Carthage the Bull Warrior and Scutarii since i don't play spain and wouldn't get to use those units if i didn't put them in the Carthaginian roster. Or giving Carthage archers because holy fuck does that faction need some archers
I have tried a little bit of bronze age total war It seems to lag quite a bit on huge unit scale on my comp, where others like Europa Barbarorum don't... Might have something to do with the unit textures or terrain graphics, I assume... Just something to watch out for
The number 10 doesn't seem to work with CD rome total war version , and my Gold steam one , nor does it work with cracked 1.6 version. It looks fun but doesn't work at all. Any idea on how to run it?
If only there was a mod that improved the campaign AI and the diplomacy AI. Those are the main things I have issues with in this classical game that I've been married to ever since it came out in 2004.
I think that lord of the rings mod may have scored high bc of the RTW engine. that particular engine had a great feel that is unique to all the other ones ive played. Shogun, M2TW, EmpireTW, Shogun2, and R2TW.
used to love RS!! but now i cant even find a download and last time i tried years ago kept getting CTD lol fun times though spent soo many hours on that game
I prefer Lord of the Rings mod for Alexander TW. Its just perfect, and it has some pros over Third Age TW (Both great :D). Very dark and sad atmposphere when playing for Noldorin elves ah... and music...
The numbers show the average placement. So if one person ranked it number 1, and another person ranked it number 10, then the average ranking would be 5. If everyone voted 1, then it will show it as everyone averaging 1st place for that mod.
I think its best to describe each mod by showing each mod For all the minute you talking about the mod You just show a small bit then always fighting scene
That would take far too long. I have to upload daily. And downloading, installing, recording decent gameplay, then editing it all in would take far too long. About 40-60 Hours.
@@MelkorGG oh sorry didnt know about that, i just feel like wanna see the mods while you explaining it haha you know listening what you describing and seeing what it is.
