I would like to see some love for the Ice types next. The type is already ABYSMAL, so it's rarely seen in competitive, and outside of Snom, Lapras and Alolan Ninetails I don't see many others be talked about. Not even Frosmoth gets talked about, it's her pre-evolution.
@@OidhcheLanFala in other words ice types are great as long as they don’t get one shoted before it gets a shot off so either 1 the ice type needs another type that helps it defensively like ground and has decent health and/or defense stats as well as a healthy complement of attack/special attack like mammoswine or it needs to be so fast and powerful that it can oneshot anything that could be powerful enough to kill it like wevile suffice to say not many ice types fit that criteria
Yeah a lot of my favorite Pokémon are ice type, if I don’t consider competitive prowess too hashly. So would love to see an Ice type list like this soon. Some of my favorites are Frosmoth, Mamoswine, Froslass, Cetoddle (and Cetitan), Weavile and Chien-Pao.
I’ve used Pangoro on my latest x and y playthrough. It’s been a great Pokémon to use in game. Always thought about using shiftry in a hoenn playthrough
Pangoro is fantastic! I used him in my unbound playthrough and radical red and he was great in both! Max attack, iron fist is nothing to sneeze at. His defenses are quite low which is his main downside in my opinion.
Malamar is my favorite pokemon. It’s design and concept is just so well thought out, and contrary superpower is so fun to use along with a cotton down eldegoss in doubles.
Hey so about Malamar! Did you know that in the pokémon TCG, there was actually 2 pretty darn good Malamar cards, one of both the Psychic and Dark types? Malamar EX was a card that allowed you to put the opponent to sleep whenever you power it up with energies, and then flipped coins for every energy on it, 60 damage per heads! That’s a lot of burst damage, but more importantly, a good ability, putting opponents to sleep with no real hinderance! Psychic Malamar from Forbidden light was pretty good as well, cheating the “one energy per turn” rule and allowing psychic pokémon to have a good setup going, carrying the type on its back! In addition, there was a Rapid Strike Malamar, doing lots of damage if set up correctly in a full rapid strike deck!
Shiftry is SUPER underrated like why isn’t it talked more? It’s a pretty good physical attacker and learn pretty good moves. Using one in Ruby was awesome
Iron Jugulis is not a bad Pokemon but because he has nothing crazy... he's bad... it's hard to justify using him without a viable Electric Terrain setter... and he's also flying which means even with Electric Terrain he'll fall asleep. It's sad, I know... Thievul has one of the best shinnies ever... I named mine Sly Cooper. Pangoro would spike in usage if it had Sucker Punch, which is a cardinal sin not to have. Shiftry can be good for annoying leads with... Fake Out, Leaf Blade, Sucker Punch, Explosion. Imagine a Tera Normal, Explosion Chlorophyll user?! 👌 Cacturne needs Sand Rush to make him at least RU. Malmar isn't that underrated... I seen him a lot in gimmick teams back in Gen 8 DOU, and NatDex.
I did a Mono-Dark run of Ultra Moon a few years ago. Contrary Malamar was indeed a beast. But it was a rough journey dealing with several Trials and Grand Trials. Even over-leveled and with maximum Affection, I got *wrecked* in the late game.
I'm currently using Skuntank on my Scarlet Team. Not only can it learn Flamethrower, but it can now learn Trailblaze to take out Ground type PokeMon. I've used it before in other games and had it use Play Rough and Dig Shiftry I thought had more coverage moves, especially for the 4x weakness to Bug, such as Rockslide, Hurricane, and even Heatwave. It can also learn Extrasensory for Poison and Fighting types. Morpeko offers good coverage for its weaknesses. Ice Fang and Seed Bomb for Ground, Fire Fang for Bug, and then Psychic Fangs For Fighting. Plus it's ability Hangry Mode is interesting I think the reason Pangoro is underated is because we already have Scrafty with the Fighting/Dark typing, which can learn Dragon Dance, and has Moxie and Intimidate and both Poison and Steel type moves for Fairy Coverage (Sludge Bomb, Poison Jab, Iron Head) Spiritomb: One of Cynthia's orginal most powerful PokeMon, especially in the original Sinnoh games where the Fairy type didn't exist. Sadly a reason it gets overlooked is I think because it has no coverage moves to take out Fairy PokeMon Cacturne: Water Absorb is pretty good, reason I think is underated is because not only do we have Shiftry, we now have Meowscarada with protean and many coverage moves to change typing (Yes I aware Protean got nerfed to only its first turn) Malamar: I like Malamar and its typing and Contrary ability (Used it before in games and even Rom Hacks such as Radical Red where it can learn Psycho Boost and thanks to Contrary, can raise its Special Attack instead of lowering it). It can even learn Flamethrower, Pluck, and Rockslide to take out Bug types. Sadly there are people who don't like the Psychic/Dark typing because of how it doesn't resist any typing, only immune to other Psychic types. No moves to take out Fairy types.
I love Pangoro. He's a big bad bear Pokémon. And I use it fairly often, even in my first play through of it's debut. Shiftry is amazing, I use one every chance I get. I enjoy Spiritomb. It was a terror when it debuted, and humiliated Ash recently in the show. I love grass types, they are my favorites, but I just don't like Cacturne that much. It's usable, but I like Shiftry better.
I was literally having a conversation with my brother about Pikachu clones the other day and when I got to Gen 8 I completely forgot about Morpeko to the point I thought Yamper was the Gen 8 Pikachu clone 😅
Unironically, I actually like Pangoro and Morpeko. They're really cool and I think Pangoro's actually decent in battle despite having a quad-weakness against Fairy and while Morpeko is not that great of a Pokemon, it's still fairly adorable and cool. I also think Skuntank is actually fairly solid.
It’s pronounced DRAP-ee-on, nah-guh-NAH-dull, and JYRO-bahl, “Patrick Star”! 🤨 Stop mispronouncing Pokémon names, bub! 🙄 Also, Guzzlord is an Ultra Beast which is Genderless! 🤨
With my pokemon teams I LOVE dark type pokemon. I use 3 dark types, 1 poison and ghost, then the starter I used Skuntank, Pangoro and Malamar on my X and Y main playthrough team And Thievul and Morpeko on my Shield Playthrough main team I used Shiftry in Ultra Moon And I used Spiritomb and Cacturne in Alpha Sapphire
Okay I think I get it with the Paradox that said I like the Scarlet ones better besides Valet. I have a shiny Skunktank and for a while I wanted Jessie to catch one. Swiper no Swiping! I love Pangro if it wasn't for Tyranturm it would be my fav mon on the gen. And it's one of my fav fighting types and fighting is my favorite type. When I no longer had aces to my Pinsir Ghostbuster and her mega evolution powered False swipe I looked for a scrappy Pancham and named it ALL MIGHT! Pangoro is great for beining a catching buddy, they can have Scrappy, False Swipe and Entertainment for when you need one with the right ability. Man as such a big Marnie fan I feel bad for this. James has one also. This is a cool Tangu, I put one on my random Fan Rival team once, didn't even have a charter to go with it just thought okay she's a Tsunderie she picks the strong starter, also has a final team of Scizor, Toxacrok, the Eevee weak to your starter and a dark/remaining starter type. I love naming them Legion. I ran one of these back in Gen III. Malamar is scary. I think that creep in Alola should have been using one instead of Hypno. If I made a new Pokemon snagging game this would be the Final Pokemon of the final boss. I was going to say do water but Let's here Bug, I want to see if you talk about Pinsir.
Let me tell you Mightyena and Cacturne can be good competitively. I surprise powerful physical attackers with Mightyena counter and sucker punch... Cacturne can hit really really hard with swords danced sucker punch. These 2 doesn't disappoint
Skuntank actually did get a serious bit of love by Michael in his Dark Gym Leader video (Kalos). Pesticide lived up to its name, eliminating Fairy pests. 😈
Hey so about Shiftry! Fun fact for those who wanna see it succeed, there was a brief period in the pokémon TCG that got a Shiftry card banned! This is due to a card combination with Forest of Giant Plants, that allowed you to evolve from a Seedot straight to Shiftry, Shiftry having an ability to remove any of your opponents pokémon from play, and item cards that let you use this ability many times a turn! For those who are unaware, when an opponent has no pokémon in play, that is one way to win the game! And of course, you winning before the opponent can draw a card in a turn based game, pretty problematic huh? Eventually, Forest of Giant Plants was banned and Shiftry was unbanned, because you can’t abuse Shiftry on the first turn of the game!
If you ask me what the most underrated dark type and I wish it was included on this list, I would say it is honchkrow. Seriously, I really don’t see enough people taking about him, which is a shame because his design and concept are so hecking amazing with the whole mafia boss look and the murkrow as his goons. The name is also great with the English name coming from “Head Honcho” and his Japanese name has the word “Don” which is a word for an Italian crime boss. He also has a ton of personality, with him being an arrogant and prideful on himself who just sits around until someone threatens or betrays him. Plus he has one of the greatest fainting animations in Pokémon history, in Battle Revolution, he basically falls to the ground and literally tips his hat like a chad before he faints like if you don’t think that great then I don’t know what’s up with you. He’s also pretty good at competitively thanks to his abilities like moxie and brave bird though he is pretty slow hence why people don’t use him often but he’s still is really good in competitive play though not in a long shot.
During Pangoro you said a 4 times weakness to the best type, Fairy. Fairy is NOT the best. Fairy comes in number 2. Steel is the best. If you need reason look at how it resists half of the types in the game. That is something I could not overlook.
I am thinking of my favorite Ground types and not many are coming to mind. Diggersby is ugly asf but other than that I can't think of many that are underrated. Wiscash maybe? I don't know. I would would love to see it.
This was a good Lost Theavils is underrated because their is a far better Dark type Fox in Zoroark and do the most underrated for either Psychic or Fairy next.
I used malamar in x and y and i thought it was pretty cool. But i can't say it was good. That game was so easy i mained a Furfrou and beat that game with ease.
I'm a person who genuinely likes Theivul and used it for a pretty solid chunk of my Sword playthrough and Pangoro is my favorite of the three big bear pokemon out of Itself,Ursaring, and Beartic
