also, the 1st spongebob movie is technically and chronologically the ending of the show. it takes place after all of the episodes, books, games, and movies that come before and after.
marvelite 1749 *ocean man, take me by the hand lead me to the land, that you understand, ocean man, the voyage to the corner of the globe is a real trip*
Maybe I’m just a huge fan of Danny Phantom, but I would have put The Ultimate Enemy on my list. The stakes are very high and it gets really dark at times (Danny’s friends and family are killed, for crying out loud). On top of that, it had some decent comedy and the characters were as fantastic as they usually are.
Stephen Brown the rules I set for myself restricted me from adding it. It was only 2 parts while I think a TV movie is 3+ parts. I just wanted to make them fair to compare with the theatrical movies run time wise
Stephen Brown There's also an amazing TV movie in Ben 10: Ultimate Alien named Ultimate Enemy. It was the show finale and was great. Funny that both shows have a special named that.
I could have sworn that phantom planet was mostly panned by fans of the show. It being that it was rushed and didn't feel like it shouldve been the conclusion. Rebel taxi reviewed it and goes into further detail
9:50 In the DVD special features he says he did it because his kids were giant fans of the show so when Nick asked him to cameo, he couldn't say no. In short, he actually did it for his own kids! Not that he didn't do it for everyone else too but it was JIS kids that meant he couldn't say no. If you look at the special festure like how they film him as a motorboat (just floating there in a tub with a green screen behind him), he admitsnit was actually really fun to be involved in a show his kids loved...Even if only for a few minutes.
Wh. What. WHAT? Jimmy Neutron didn't get on the list? It just got tossed to an honourable mentions joke? Aw c'mon man, I really want more people to talk about the movie and show. Everyone knows about the TV show and the Movie, but no ones actually done a full on review of the Show and talked about it. And only Rebel Taxi has talked about the Movie.
DUDE I wanted to put Jimmy Neutron on so badly. I had jokes ready for it and everything. It just got barely bumped off of the list. Consider it #11 for sure. I do want to cover the show at some point too. It deserves a review of some sort.
I think Sponge Out of Water is a decent movie because the SpongeBob crew took out some rejected episode plots and mashed them together into a feature film. Anyway,I love the team-up and relationship between SpongeBob and Plankton in the movie. While I do love the first SpongeBob movie,I do agree with you being mixed on the movie’s characters,King Neptune is funny because of his famous bald scene, but most of the time, he is such a horrible, unfair king who executes his subjects for stupid reasons,he’s always extremely mean, angry, and impatient for no reason, rules over his subjects with an iron fist, and never realizes the consequences he’s done or how his tyrannical power brutally affected his citizens throughout the movie at the end(not even realizing Plankton was the one who stole his crown and took it to Shell City and he blamed it on Mr.Krabs because a fake confession note and phone message said he did it). Mindy is just a very bland character who is used for motivation to help SpongeBob and Patrick on their journey,a few scenes of her would’ve made her more perfect. Anyway,I’m more of a Dennis guy because he’s like a cool villian and I love how he was devoted to this job to step on SpongeBob and Patrick.
Another thing that made Sponge Out of Water so awesome is the fact that it marked the return of Stephen Hillenburg for the series. That's one of many things that saved that show. Though Spongebob getting new episodes on Sundays now does concern me a bit...
AND I'LL BE BETTER IF................................ I'LL BE THERE FOR YOU!!!!!!!! Also, Come On Jimmy Neutron and Back at the Barnyard were good shows!
Barnyard was my favourite movie and show growing up. But it has not aged well and honestly it’s a bit shit if you watch it without the nostalgia. The video game is really good though.
Personally, I think School's out the musical is a much better Fairly Odd Parents tv movie. It just felt like a much better story that was more like a movie while still having that heart and comedy. Also the songs are really just amazing.
Jake Pulley I just didn't like it as much as I did when retwatching it. It's a good standalone special but kind of underwhelming. Also it was only 44 minutes long, not technically a TV movie
I consider Channel Chasers to be the best TV movie Nick has done,Alec Baldwin does a great job here as Adult Timmy and this is truely Vicky’s best appearance in the show.
8. Rugrats Go wild 7. Wild Thornberrys 6. Fairly odd parents movie 5. Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius 4. Rugrats movie 3. Hey Arnold Movie 2. SpongeBob SquarePants the movie 1. Rugrats in Paris
The difference with something like Hey Arnold! and something like Rocket Power is that Hey Arnold! is actually really good. I've watched episodes of it a month ago to get ready for The Jungle Movie and it actually has good storytelling, characters, and can get emotional at times. Rocket Power is basically the Quack Pack of Nickelodeon. And keep in mind, Hey Arnold! isn't really that nostalgic of a show for me compared to Rugrats and CatDog, as while I watched Hey Arnold! as a kid, it wasn't a favorite of mine till I watched it again a few years ago. Heck, JoJo's Circus is better than Rocket Power. And that's for a younger audience
Instead of the typical "character gets abandoned by angry friends" cliché, why not have one character complain about it's getting too dangerous, so the group splits up, but the "cowards" return later. That would at least make more sense.
I love the old Nickelodeon even if I'm a modern kid I don't like many modern shows thank god my big sister got me into the old Nick my favorite show is hey Arnold
Oh yeah, Back then, people wanted to put their deepest and experienced ideas to use. Unfortunately, being exposed to that criteria traumatized individuals and unknowingly sabotaged their mentality. So now they're more like disney and try to fix clever plots with a lot of fart jokes and uniporn.
just wanted to say at 1:29 that was one of the coolest nickelodeon movie logos i have seen and it was shame they did not use it again after The Spongebob Squarepants Movie.
I wouldn’t say I have a top 6 but out of those It would be 6.enter the florpus 5.rango 4.spongebob movie 3.rocko 2.sponge out of water 1.rugrats All are great tho
Ya know, the original SpongeBob Movie is a very well done film, it's epic and worthy of the big screen, and it's well written. But the second one also holds a special place for me since, while in a lot of ways it's inferior and just a big TV episode, it has a lot of fun and good comedy. The biggest seller for me is that they actually have the entire cast which was lacking in the first film
Not only was tintin directed by Steven Speilberg, but it was written by Edgar Wright, the guy behind Shawn of the Dead. In all honesty, despite being another mc gimmick movie, it still is a good movie
28:44 was that a joke on how people call Avatar an anime because they think calling it a cartoon is too childish and feel like calling it anime immediately makes it adult? I might be looking to deeply into this but, that is what I got from this joke.
NICKtendo Lol man that is weird, and people say 2010 American animation looks the same. I don't know why but, I find it funny how so many animes looks so similar to each other to the point that an western cartoon can replicate the style so well that people mistake it for the real!
I absolutely love the movie Rango that i even did a human version cosplay of him. Tango absolutley deserves the number one spot. Most of these movies gave me nostalgia and i absolutely love them. Good list
As far as the SB movies go...I don't think there's anything wrong with things coming out of no where...as LONG as it's done right. Some of the seasons 1-3 episodes did it.
I haven't seen a lot of Nickelodeon's movies (Hence why these lists aren't top 10's but rather top 8's), but my list differs from this list a crap ton. So here ya go. My list critically: 1. Rango 2. The Spongebob Squarepants Movie 3. Channel Chasers 4. Hey Arnold Movie (original) 5. Rugrats 6. Tintin 7. Jimmy Neutron 8. Sponge Out of Water As for how I rank them subjectively: 1.The Spongebob Squarepants Movie 2. Channel Chasers 3. Rango 4. Hey Arnold 5. Rugrats 6. Tintin 7. Sponge Out of Water 8. Jimmy Neutron I honestly think, and I'm being as unbiased as possible, that The Spongebob Squarepants Movie is an Oscar nomination worthy film, and should've taken Shark Tale's place as a nominee. If Jimmy Neutron can get nominated, then Spongebob can get nominated too. It's not perfect, but it is certainly a film of true quality, only being shadowed by its source material being a "TV cartoon for kids". Case in point, I heavily disagree with Sponge Out of Water being not only higher, but in the top 3. From a 100% critical perspective, I have to begrudgingly put Rango on top, yet I could easily have put Spongebob on top. Again this is just my opinion, and if you disagree with me, by all means keep disagreeing with me.
Peter and Lloyd from ERB made a cameo in the scene where spongebob revealed himself as a superhero. Lloyd said "what is in these things?" or something along those lines. So they decided to have them make a rap battle at the end. :P
I'm surprised people are upset about the Spongebob movie when you put it in the list at all. I feel I was a part of the original generation to grow up with Spongebob and I remember myself and pretty much alll of my friends being pretty disappointed with it...
That diver in the Spongebob Movie gave me nightmares about a giant walking through my city and having to hide to not get killed and it wasn't just one dream it was a series with like 15 parts
But... The last rocket power movie was so good! It was so brave to have a main character die, in a kid's film. I still see his body laying on the shore, his friends by his side. The way he tells them to not be sad, but to keep being rad for him. He may not have been the most athletic member, but when the squid beefed it, he also nailed what it is to be a role model.
It's not that we use nostalgia goggles, but that we can tell how easier it was to put cg animated pictures in the movies nowadays. They used to put work and meaning into what's being presented.
In my humble, personal opinion, i consider The Rugrats Movie, Rugrats in Paris: the Movie, The Wild Thornberrys Movie and Barnyard as underrated animated gems.
After watching Tin Tin in cinema, I kept comparing it with Uncharted 3 and thought the action was exhausting and overblown. When watching it on the small screen, I realized how awesome and creative it really is and looks. The final battle is genius.
I had no idea who Hasselhoff and Baywatch were and I still found it hilarious, coming back to it having watched Baywatch though made it a hell of a lot funnier.
6:40 hey, i am just glad this movie is on the list at all. NOBODY EVER TALKS ABOUT THIS FREAKING MOVIE AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHY! dont care if spongebob movie is low, the fact that this movie made the list makes me feel a lot better about that, cause wasn't expecting it to show up at all.
I will say, the Nickelodeon Movies Bumper/ID they used at the start of 'The Wild Thornberrys Movie' was kinda freaky. That Dog still creeps me the hell out...
The Jungle Movie is NOT a reboot! Reboot means starting over from the beginning with a new cast and a change on the formula. The Jungle Movie is a sequel/continuation, sense it reuses all applicable cast members, and continues the story of the original.
Here are my Top 10 Nickelodeon Movies: 1. The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie 2. Rugrats in Paris 3. The Loud House Movie 4. Invader Zim Enter the Florpus 5. Rango 6. The Adventures of Tintin 7. Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius 8. Hey Arnold The Jungle Movie 9. Barnyard 10. Good Burger
While I do like Rugrats In Paris for being a more superior film than the original Rugrats Movie,I like the original better because It explores something the series never did:The babies being involved in dangerous situations that almost got them killed,a Wolf that nearly tried to kill them, and the babies parents being more competent than in the series. I think the BLAM musical number,This World Is Something New To Me is probably my favorite song in the entire movie, since I find it very catchy and impressive that they got a lot of pop stars(Iggy Pop,The B-52's,Lou Rawls)to sing this song. This movie deserves a Blu-Ray release along with the other two movies, along with including the two scenes that were never made it into the movie in theaters, but added when the movie aired on TV.(One of them being the Lipschitz musical number that Stu and Didi imagine when they try to get Dil to stop crying),shown for the first time uncropped in 1:85:1 Widescreen format.
