Really nice to have BGM and game footage clips to go along with your excellent commentary and delivery style. Really enjoying your content (new sub since HCG appearance)
When i was a kid i played a ton of JRPG's and as i got older i got more into shooters and other types of games. I played DQ11 on a whim and it rekindled my love for RPG's. I think it deserves to be in the conversation as one of the best RPG's ever made.
I’m currently playing Fire Emblem Engage! A little past the halfway point. Really cool and unique choices for your current top 10 that differ a good deal from mine 😅 Been enjoying your videos a lot since I learned about your channel from Johnny/HCG! Keep it up 💪
Great list! I finally got a Switch OLED and the Switch is just killing it. I have some catching up to do but that is OK because the games are just too good. Also great timing since Nintendo has that amazing E-shop sale going on right now. I also have to recommend The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles and Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Trilogy. Another thing I think people just don't talk about enough and I am looking forward to getting into with my family is Nintendo Labo. The creativity of Nintendo and what they came up with combining the Switch and cardboard is just off the charts. Great job. Subscribed!
Great list! Must get to engage and harvestella. Even after 3, XC2 is still my favourite in the series - fun yet emotional, improved combat and the best soundtrack I’ve ever heard.
I really love how unique this list is! Some games I'd like to recommend to you based on these choices and some of the games I learned that you enjoyed thanks to your collab with Happy Console Gamer. Hopefully some of these you haven't played: * Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise on PS4 -- surprisingly strong story, made by the Yakuza guys on the Yakuza engine, and it might be the best example of a game I can think of that just gets better and better as it goes. Found this one through HCG. * Omori (multiple platforms) this game is THE MOST Earthbound like game I've ever played, and that's coming from a massive lifelong EB fan -- EB is forever my number one. I grew up with the game and my band's song "Hoodie" is about losing my favorite EarthBound hoodie. So hopefully that carries some weight. This game is heavy & dark though, but it also has that signature EB quirkiness. Wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. * Dragon Ball Advanced Adventure on the GBA * Dragon Quest Builders 2. I don't even like Minecraft really but this game really really captures my attention. Especially in the first town that you help out. It's magical. * Sega All Stars Racing Transformed (I personally enjoy the Vita version). * Shenmue I & II collection on PS4. it's a Dreamcast port, and it has aged in some ways, but man is it so good. I played it this year with no nostalgia, just based off of Happy Console Gamers recommendation alone. You can see the prototypical Yakuza DNA in this game. fantastic, moving story. I can't wait to play the second one.
Awesome list!!! Shenmue is a series I want to get into! I have the first two on PS4! I need to play DB Advanced Adventure too! I’ll admit I didn’t get into Dragon Quest Builders so not sure that’s for me. I’m always down for more kart racers! Fist of the North Star would be my thing too! I’ve actually played Omori and it made my top 10 games I had played last year so you can check that video out for my thoughts! :)
Fist of the North Star was way better than I would've ever expected. I think that one for sure you would enjoy. Shenmue is great, just slow paced, for me it was much needed with how hectic life can be. It was very immersive. I'll search around for that video, definitely would be interested in hearing your thoughts on Omori!
Really enjoyed hearing your Top 10 Switch games. I definitely can see why it's your favorite. It's definitely close to my second favorite, but I don't think it will top the DS. As for favorite Switch games, definitely believe some to be Smash Ultimate, Mario and Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Breath of the Wild, Theatrhythm Final Bar Line, Ring Fit Adventure, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Celeste, Chicory, and Metroid Dread. There's so many more new and remastered releases I have yet to play that will likely shake up my favorites but in the meantime, it's a fantastic console!
Thanks for the new list Paige! I could listen to you talking about games forever! You make me laugh out loud with your FF 16 jab! that funny, Mario Kart is a game my wife and I still play time to time too! can't wait for the new course to come out!
Glad to hear that about Engage. I really liked Three Houses but I've left Engage on my backlog as I've heard mixed things about the game. I still need to get to Harvestella. Alex from Backlog Battle has also sung final fantasy Theatrhythms praises.
Buy them all! The Switch version has way more tracks and the style of gameplay is different since you aren’t using the stylus so I recommend both but the Switch version is the best one!
This was such an interesting and fun video to watch. Not everyone connects the same way to these games and that's the beauty of it imo. I would recommend the Ys games if you have a chance
Absolutely!!! I actually did a video on this subject awhile ago - so this might be a good start! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OxlT0LQYA4s.html
Awesome list! I still need to play Kakarot. I'm behind, lol. But hey, if you enjoyed Dragon Ball and DBZ so much, I highly recommend Yu Yu Hakusho if you haven't read/seen it already. It's amazing.
THANK YOU! People always say they love soundtracks when it comes to games like Final Fantasy which I get because the soundtracks in some of those games are amazing. BUT it feels like they just say it cause other people are saying it. Because they never say it about games like Mario and Sonic which BOTH have some greattttt soundtracks.
This is an interesting idea to update your list as you have played more games and I agree with you that a list of top games should be the ones you personally enjoy the most rather than ones that have accomplished something noteworthy, have had a cultural impact, or that are the most popular. Personal choices are always more interesting to me because I like to see the games that different players connect with. It is very difficult for me to narrow down a console's library to 10 games, though I will do so without ranking them because that would make it even more difficult for me. 😆So in no particular order, it would be Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster, Shin Megami Tensei V, Sega Genesis Classics (which contains Phantasy Star IV, one of my all-time favorites), Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, Bravely Default II, Octopath Traveler II, Blasphemous, Metroid Dread, Persona 5 Royal, and Trails to Azure.
Awesome list!!! Persona 5 Royal would make my list if I had played it on Switch but I played it on PS4! Such a great game! There are SOOOO many games for the Switch that it’s fun to see what everyone loves! And yes, my list will be different next year! I just know it!
ive never seen someone echo so many shared opinions. You've got great taste and you might have just sold me on harvestella after being on the fence with it for a year
Awesome! If you aren’t 100% sure, download the demo. The demo is a big indicator if you will like the game! Glad to share so many awesome gaming opinions! Woo!
I actually really appreciate you putting dragon ball on the list because I don't know much about the series and there's SO MANY games I just never knew where to start!! Also my favorite switch game has to be breath of the wild and I understand it not being here because it's botw and it gets boring talking about it. It's a personal one for me because I waited like 7 or 8 hours outside of best buy with a friend so we could get the switch and botw on launch day and coming home to play it was just such an amazing experience. I love that game and for that reason I love the switch because the two go hand in hand for me!
Ok. I can’t believe you just sold me on Dragon Ball kakarot! Haha I am not a fan even though I do really like Akira Toriyamas art style. Gonna pick it up. Great video!
I've put at least 240 hours into DQXI S. The love all the people involved in the game's conception, have for the franchise, was evident all throughout, and because of that, playing through the game felt like reading a love letter. And I'm surprised you didn't like Three Houses 😮 Do you happen to have a video on the channel in which you go into that a little? And although I'm not a huge BotW/TotK fan myself, I'm surprised neither one of those made the list haha
Yeah, I’m definitely not into the new Zelda format actually! Three Houses wasn’t my thing because it had the school element and the social aspect - I didn’t ever do a review on it but that’s the gist of that!
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is very very good. It’s tough for me though bc I got the game at launch for the WiiU, so it’s extremely played out for me at this point. Not bad, I’ve just played enough of it. I’ve had my fill. Totally understand why it would make #1 on anyone’s list though. Fun list! Thanks for sharing. :)
There’s a few on this list I’m going to have to pick up! I really did not give harvestella a fair chance, played it for maybe 2 hours and wasn’t really happy with it initially
I feel like I've been playing a lot of PS4 titles, and your video is making me realize that I'm not giving the switch enough love. I still need to play dragon quest 11 it will be my 1st one
Very great list! Better yet since there's some uncommon games. I'll just say a personnal favorite which wouldnt be on many list. It's Tokyo mirage session FE encore! Such a great battle system, i love character development in it, the good vibe also. I don't care about idol stuff but if people can past that, this is a great and funny game.
@@femtrooper yeah totally! Also i forgot to say, i'm glad you enjoyed Harvestella this much cuz the demo gave me that mysterious vibe. To unfold the mystery. I'm waiting an e shop sale for it.
Haha, yes! I can’t wait for that one!!! I’m nervous about it because there are apparently going to be big changes made but extremely excited too! It’s DQ! It’s gotta be great!
As far as my new Top 10 Switch Games go, Forgotten Land, Return to Dream Land Deluxe, Metroid Prime Remastered, and Tears of the Kingdom are all definitely up there.
The only ones I've played on your list are the 2 Mario games and yeah they're both classics. Some of my favorites are Mario Odyssey, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, Grandia HD collection, and Record Of Lodoss War Deedlit In Wonder Labyrinth
It’s a fantastic game with a cult following for a reason - just an awesome experience. If you loved the demo, you’ll love the game! It’s a good indicator!
Nice seeing crisis core make someone’s list. Great game! Have you ever tried SMT 3 Nocturne for the switch? Seems like it would be right up your alley.
Really? I’ve always kinda steered clear of SMT because they are notoriously difficult and usually not the most interesting stories so I just don’t know…. I’m down to try it - sell me on it haha
@@femtrooper Nocturne has an easy mode if that's a concern, its story I'd describe as having a point and click adventure-y kind of feel but in a good way, where you're brought from location to location and have to talk to people to figure out what's going on and direct you to where you need to check out next and the story itself is about the apocalypse happening and you choosing what factions or ideologies you want to align yourself with to have an influence on the world maybe look into a couple videos but I do also recommend SMT Nocturne
It has that ps2 aesthetic that you mentioned you were into with Crisis Core. It is also linear with the option to grind, and explore if you choose (same reason I really enjoyed Xenoblade 1) The fusion system gives it a Pokémon element which I found to be a pleasant surprise, and gave it a nice layer of replay-ability. Also the game is still very affordable at around $15-20 used, $25 new. I agree with your concern of difficulty and strange story telling which are very true for SMT 4 and 5. SMT 3 is not as complicated, busy, strange, and the combat/battle system is pretty straightforward. The game overall feels more like a streamlined Persona game vs a SMT game.
If you like Havestella then you should try Sakuna of rice and ruin, it has a farming sim element but is mainly a platform similar to Viewiful Joe. Its a relatively short game as well.
@@femtrooper I tried to play Xeno Blade on Wii and I was too dumb to figure out the combat system, sad 😢 I might hire a geek for a day to teach me, 1800-rent geek
Four of my top ten spots would be Xenoblade. I think XC2 is still top for me. I’m adding the DragonQuest game to my wish list. I did play the demo and liked it but at the time couldn’t cope with such a huge game. Harvestella is on my to finish list, but I actually enjoy the farming aspects. I’d have to add Metroid Prime and ACNH. Gonna have to think about my last three spots!
A few on here that aren't Switch exclusives. I'm also surprised you don't have Shin Megami Tensai V on here either. That game is amazing! You need to play it, if you haven't yet.
I find it interesting how ppl much prefer FE 3H over Engage and vice versa. I can’t imagine Engage’s story and atmosphere even comparing, but I haven’t tried it
This was an interesting list, does not have all the typical choices I have seen in other lists. I am not a huge Switch player mostly just have it for the exclusives. Xenoblade 3 and Metroid Dread are my favorite games on it. Personally I thought the story and characters in FE: Engage was dreadful lol, Its a fun game to play atleast lol. I like the older games much better.
Its cool, I have accepted a long time ago that the newer FE games will not speak to me as much as the older titles. The Switch has alot of games so I am not suprised everybodies list will be different. Would be boring otherwise.
What an amazing list and video. I love allot of the games you shared especially dragon quest 11. I’m a big dragon quest fan. Really loved this video. For me my list would be 1. Mario Odyssey 2. Zelda Tears of the kingdom 3, Smash Bros Ultimate 4. Metroid prime remastered 5. Dragon quest 11 6. Xenoblade chronicles definitive edition 7. Final fantasy 7 crisis core 8. Lego Star Wars 9. Luigi’s mansion 3 10. Kirby forgotten land I have to say and I apologize if this sounds weird, it’s really cool to see a female gamer who doesn’t like farming games or animal crossing style games. Not picking on anyone who does, just saying its cool to see a different perspective. But again I apologize if that sounded bad. Also love the shirt.
Awesome list!!! Glad to see a few that are the same and even Kirby and the Forgotten Land! Great game!!! And yeah, don’t worry I get it. Farming games just aren’t for me! :)
Cool that you're not following the crowd with your list. People may be like, "Wheres BOTW or Odyssey?" But people connect with different games and that's rad. Like my #1 would be Triangle Strategy but I know many wouldn't include that on their lists. I'll have to check out Dragonball.
Damn I had no interest in dragon ball kakarot but now I want to play it 😅 I also grew up in the 90s but we didn’t have the channel it showed on, I saw a couple of episodes at friends’ houses and thought it was cool but never got into it properly. Now I feel like I should play that game to satisfy my childhood curiosity
I always feel a little selfish for posting this on video's but your volume is a bit (or actually very) low for me. I came here from HappyConsoleGamer and I really like your passion for games and the way you talk about them. However I use a laptop to listen to most youtube video's (and take a peek every now and then) while doing other stuff. A laptops just easy for me and consumes relatively little power. At this point I like your video's and I'm trying to listen to them but it's just very hard with the low volume. At this rate I feel like I'm just going to fall off eventually, so I figured I might as well post this comment. So long story for: Low volume.
I find it extremely hilarious that Dragonball Z:Kakarot is the thing that got you into the franchise. Nothing against the game. There has just been so many games and so many film but this was finally the one that got you. Glad to see it. Lol
Even though I bought Fire Emblem Three Houses first, the whole "manage a school" thing turned me off. When Engage came around, I jumped in with both feet and it became the FIRST FE game that I actually finished! I played on "casual," so didn't have the same tension as a "normal" player, but I still enjoyed playing through the campaign. Playing Engage actually inspired me to go back and play the FE game that was recently added to the Nintendo Online service, as well as play the two DS remakes of the early NFC and SFC entries. Kind of wish I would have played the old games first, though, since those Engage cameos would have been a lot more impactful 😅
Yep! I also play on casual because I kinda suck at strategy games but I really enjoy them!!! I’m not into the school thing either. Three Houses is still super good but Engage actually had me captivated!
@@femtrooper Just found your channel in the last few days and have been enjoying your take on things. The only "downside" to Engage for me was that it DID cross the border into being too "anime-y" with the character designs (this coming from an Anime fan). Speaking of which, even though I've been a Dragonball fan since the 90s, your love of Kakarot is inspiring me to go pick up that title and relive the magic 👍. Also have had DQXI in my backlog for a few years now. Need to get to that ASAP but the "100 hours" thing kind of scares me off.
@@zach5381 If you haven't played it yet, I HIGHLY recommend playing the DS games. They are updated graphically, but also are a nice evolution somewhere in-between the originals and the later ones on the 3DS and beyond. I played all the way through the "Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem" ROM with the English patch and had a great time.
Paige I really recommend Persona 5. I promise you that if you play this game, you’ll boot Xenoblade 2 off this list lol. And I’m saying this as 35 yr old casual jrpg player that only even got into jrpgs because FF7 exists. Persona 5 makes a shitload of other jrpgs look bad and that’s why I love it. It’s got cool characters, a compelling story and one absolute banger of a soundtrack. It’s a jrpg that is in your face about its style and it doesn’t apologize for it. Can’t recommend it enough. The anime on Crunchyroll is also very good. If you want the Persona 5 story without the 150 hour play through that is a very good alternative. It is 26 episodes.
Haha, I’ve beat Persona 5 Royal already hehe - you can check out my Top PS4 Games list! :) I completely agree that it’s fantastic though but I played it on PS4.
@@femtrooper tbh I bought them both day 1 of release I wanted to play it on switch but my battery was down so I thought lets try ps5 as a laugh I ended up playing it all and haven't even tried the switch version it is on my list though, I just bought tales of berseria ps4 my goodness this game is really cool and has a really deep story....
I really miss blockbuster. I wish it would come back. The whole movie and games rentals was great. You could even rent a system to play it on. Not to mention all the sales that regularly happen. Thanks for this switch games list. Ive been looking to expand my library
"shame on me for thinking that it's just dudes screaming".. All I was thinking was, you're not wrong. It is A LOT of dudes screaming... Maybe a little other stuff. Dudes punching and doing math with big numbers
I want them to remaster and rerelease Xenoblade chronicles X I had it for the wiiU I also want a new traditional Zelda similar to the techdemo realistic zelda wiiU, the one with the big spider!! I hate it when nintendo shows these realistic trailers then come out with cartoony celshading, sadly we probably will never get a traditional Zelda ever again, its open world crafting weapon breaking, foraging for food etc forever! Eji aonuma confirmed this 😢😢😢
