Mr X is THE stalker. Although he isn’t very powerful like Nemesis. His presence was enough to send shivers down my spine. Hearing his footsteps and opening doors, you never know where he’ll appear next

Ofc Mr X is the best. His footsteps, the fact he is literally patrolling the rpd and looking for you while listening for sounds from guns or zombies, the fact that he is coming after u even at the lab in the make him easily no1. Also the guy that thought of having the rpd full with lickers that require u to walk after encountering Mr X who forces u to run in simply evil

The sheer dread from hearing Mr X's footsteps knowing he's nearby makes for a well deserved top spot.

I think the giant baby from House Beneviento should’ve been on this list

Agreed with the number 1 spot,Mr X was really scary and memorable in RE2 Remake,i wans't scared that much in a game since i played Alien Isolation.

My personal favorite has to be Jack Baker. He's just so funny. I know I'm supposed to be scared but whenever he's on screen I can't help but smile. Especially during moments such as when he smashes the dinner table and says "Damn, how am I ever gonna replace this?" or when he bursts through the wall and says something like "Oh I was so worried about you!" with a teasing tone in his voice I just find myself laughing.

Bro for sure Mr. X gets number 1 spot, dude has been engrained into pop culture and whatnot, the memes the jokes the song.

OG Nemesis will always be the best for me. To this day, the amount of tension he generates while chasing you is unmatched.

I completely agree with your list. Mr. X as #1, especially. RE2R was my first Resident Evil game, and I cannot tell you the sheer STRESS he instilled in me while I had to complete puzzles while having him on my tail. I was already slightly stressed out with rooms that had multiple zombies, like the Library. But then when you add that, and an 8-foot tall behemoth who will stop at nothing, taking multiple shotgun blasts to the face, all meanwhile menacingly walking towards you... It left a huge impression on me. During my first playthrough of RE2R, I couldn't help but feel the overwhelming dread whenever I heard his footsteps. I played RE2R and beat Leon A over a couple-week period, as I took large breaks in between playing it. During that time, whenever I ran into Mr. X, just hearing his footsteps was enough to make my heart begin to race and to instill fear. HIS FOOTSTEPS ALONE. I think that says a lot about a character when their footsteps is enough to make you think "oh shit, I'm screwed". Similarly to how Darth Vader is, in terms of his breathing. Another thing is, I think a lot of people underestimate how iconic he has become. RE2 Remake was a huge success. Even before I played a single RE game, I knew who Mr. X was. Sure, I also knew who Nemesis was, but both of them are now on similar levels of notoriety at this point.

Another contender for Hook Man’s spot could have been Chief Irons in the RE2 remake; just like Lisa Trevor he only appears in *one* scare sequence, but you *must* run and hide from him while playing as Sherry; because just like Amanda Ripley in “Alien Isolation”, you are *helpless* and if he catches you, it’s *instant* lights-out for your character.

Got re4 remake recently and loved it!, also, mr.x incites that terror that no other enemy in a game can-he made even the simplest of puzzles a track run and his combination with lickers is de-ad-ly

Pretty well put list. I think one thing you could have mentioned about original RE2 Mr X is when he climbs over the balcony on the top floor of the RPD. I remember playing that part by myself and I just panicked and turned the game off at that point

I remember like last month I was playing resident evil3 remake with my little sister and we were walking in the streets part of re3 remake and had music playing on my Alexa as background music it was low and then nemesis came charging at us while I saw singing and it scared me and I screamed because I was caught off guard

For outbreak file 2 I believe there’s actually a T-001 tyrant that follows your through the university it was pretty terrifying and was actually the template for the RE2 remake tyrant

I've been soaking up all of your videos recently. Great stuff. I agree with most of the lists besides stuff involving 7 or 8 because I simply haven't played them. But I definitely agree with the top 2 here. First playthroughs of RE2 remake were so unnerving and I truly felt like I was running for my life once Mr. X showed up. Getting lost and turned around in the station with his presence ever looming was terrifying while frantically figuring out where to go was top-tier gameplay. I was a little bummed about RE3 remake and Nemesis in some aspects but I tgink it was still a good game. Not a perfect remake, but a good game.

I'm glad you included the original Mr. X on this list. I feel like he doesn't get enough love lol. I'm also happy to see the original Nemesis!

Leech Man from outbreak File 1 isnt on this list? Him shuffling through vents and following you into cramped rooms led to some stressful moments. And being able to bait him with blood packs too keep him busy for a short amount of time was a great touch. He also is definatly more of a stalker enemy than Lisa Trevor is.

I remember when I first played RE7 (my first RE game), Jack really scared the soul out of me. Terrifying! I didn't touch the game for some years after that, but I have recently played through it. Now I want to again!

Mr X scares me so much that I'm having a hard time continuing my playthrough of the remake cause I know he's coming I just don't know when. Plus I kept getting caught by Jack and Lady D so I think when it comes to avoiding them I just suck...

you missed out marguerite from re7, she roams around the old house after ethan gets the flamethrower, she works just like jack but makes flies and them annoying mosquitoes

I first played re 2 and when I heard his footsteps I didn't know where he was and I found myself waiting until I couldn't hear his footsteps and when he bursts in the door and your not looking g and the music starts sometimes it'll make you freak out.

There was something satisfying about leaving the one save room taunting Lady Dimitrescu (Spell check) only to run back in before she could hit you lol.

Mr X is the perfect stalker enemy. He reacts to sight and sound, and will get nore aggressive the longer he doesn't find you. Capcom knocked it out of the park with his AI

Fun fact, Alot of the Nemesis remake stalking can be skipped if you go though the apts instead of plaza with him mutating the Zombie

Pretty solid list, but i'm gonna change 2020 nemesis to where Lady D is. Honestly i feel her height was her biggest flaw, she can't even go half the places Mr.X or Nemesis can due to that. What a waste of a stalker enemy and the castle too felt half used due to her stature.

Won’t lie, recently completed RE2 remake and man, the jump scares from MrX got me good

Mr X on re2 remake was a nightmare.

My number 1 slot cycles depending on different variables. Mr X and Jack Baker. Mr. X was more stress inducing and scary whereas Jack was more effective since I had a much harder time eluding him. Between the two jack is the only one I've died to. So depending on my mood I can swap them between 1 and 2 pretty easily.

Hears a honorable mention: The Leech man from Resi Outbreak.

We all knew who was number 1. Mister X is just there chillin' while your heartbeat goes to the moon hearing his not so subtle footsteps... It just adds pressure to your play since you know he'll pop op sooner or later and you can actually hear it.

Mr. X from RE2 Remake and Nemesis from the original RE3 are the only two who gave me actual nightmares.

re2 remaster being my first re game, and first horror type game, caused Mr. X to give me nightmaressss. Will never forget the adrenaline from hearing his loud ahh stomps.

OG Nemesis just appeared in some points of the game. Like the remake version does actually, but better, but he was still very scripted. I'd put Jack as number 2 because you have to chase keys with him around, plus you can hide by crouching in the dark and see him pass right in front of you. Also, that part where you have to open the door on the floor...

As the Yoda of resident evil (well the og games and spin-offs up till 4) Mr.X was always my favorite. The original plain bald smooth headed version. Though I played re3 wayyyyy more and actually liked it more than 2, X was like Jason. Just lumbered to you. Not reacting to handgun rounds. Showing no pain. And had the dreaded over hear 2 handed smoosh. Nemmy showed reactions. Ran. Acted like a kid sometimes. And still with the remakes, X is way more terrifying, yet I played remake of the 3rd more. And I think it’s why I enjoyed operation raccoon so much. They brought back multiple Mr X’s (also you could sorta throw the hunters in the mix of stalkers from the first. They sorta followed from room to room(ish)

OG Nemesis only has the rocket launcher, which was scary and devastating enough. No flamethrower, like in the remake.

Nemesis in the remake is just annoying, a boss lying around and too tanky especially on inferno. Mr X in Re2 remake is too slow and easy to dodge. Lady D had little screen time. If they decide to add a new stalker enemy they should find the perfect balance finally, because tbh the stalker type of enemy kinda sucks and frustrates me at times

Should mod/patch in Mendez as a stalker earlier on or something

Out of all of these the one that has actually scared me is jack he’s so creepy Mr x puts me on edge but I wouldn’t say scarey

If the creature in question makes you actually plan alternate routes to avoid them, and it almost changes randomly, then they are stalkers, and are very good at it. 😂😂😂

Mr. X never scared me in both original and remake whereas nemeis in re3 original had me turn off ps1 console to take horror breaks from him and hunter betas which i was killed a LOT more than entire re 2 remake

Re2 remake was my first ever re game and when i got at the roof for the first time i almost shit my pants. I camped in the save room for almost 30 minutes to make sure. He wasn't camping me😂😂😂

I would place Lady D in 7th because she is quite memorable in the game, but is very easy to escape. Ustanak deserved much more recognition.

All of the major stalker enemies fail for a simple reason - rooms they can't go in. Alien Isolation showed how a stalker entity should be done. Saving your game? You can die while doing so if the alien catches you. Mr. X, Lady D, Nemesis, Jack? Save rooms prevent them from entering. Also, if you enter a save room while being chased, they just resume their patrol pattern like they forgot you exist. Takes the tension right out of it when you can manipulate their AI like that.

4:48 I agree with you its a huge disgrace that CAPCOM just made the RE3 remake Nemesis look like literal garbage when compared to the RE2 remake Mr. X I mean the fact that Mr. X is much more iconic and memorable in his remake appearance than his original debut and that the Nemesis was very iconic in his original debut and that people were very hyped and anticipated about Nemesis appearing in the remake when the first RE3 remake trailer dropped only to end up as a huge letdown is well quite sad and ironic I mean the remake Nemesis had so much potential of possibly being a much more intimidating and more imposing figure than the remake Mr. X and yet CAPCOM just wasted that potential by putting Nemesis into very obvious scripted events and ultimately changing Nemesis from a terrifying stalker enemy to a scripted reoccurring boss enemy like William Birkin I mean he's literally called the Pursuer for a reason he is designed to pursue and kill the player and yet CAPCOM clearly didn't take that into account and that his role as a stalker enemy pursuer in the remake is hardly even considered "intimidating" if only CAPCOM didn't have to scrap a lot of things for RE3 remake and unless CAPCOM pulls a rabbit out of a magic hat and change the RE3 remake game from the ground up and basically "remake" the already remade RE3 game as well as update the Nemesis to the point where he actually shines in the spotlight (which I highly doubt is even possible) the remake Nemesis remains as the biggest letdown in the franchise

honestly lady D is 1 for me. like her being the tallest stalker is 1 thing, but seeing her crouch her big ass under door frames and whipping out her long freddy krueger klaws when she sees you makes her character just more terrifying to run from. Mr.X beating the shit outta u with his bare hands is pretty scary too so i see why he’s 1

I feel that with the remake of re3 nemesis, they decided not to make nemesis a full on stalker enemy due to the amount of people who whined about Mr. X ruining the game for them, and found him annoying, so they decided to make sure that wouldnt be a problem in number 3, by literally taking a majority of it from the game

even tho nemesis wasnt the best stalker the amount of appreances he has is scary especially since he starts with bare hand then goes to a flame thrower than gets a rocket launcher and evolves into many different creatures also mr x definentley deserved top one he stays with you for the whole game since the helicopter crash and his spawns arent scripted he just walks around puncing you like nemesis who had to many abilities and was there since the first two minutes

I just replayed RE3 Remake and found myself more annoyed by Nemesis than scared. Sure, in theory it being faster should make for a scarier experience, but I find Mr. X’s heavy stride slowly closing in when you have to do something in a room far more unnerving.

Everyone on this list scared me a LOT more than Mr x in original and remake

Because I don’t think I ever ran into him maybe once but not again and he was only in the b campaign I think. Why re3 original Nemises and other is not there? Because I never played them and I don’t remember the Nemises in the original re3

I don't feel like Jack Backer or Lady D are iconic... or maybe it's just me but on my playthroughs of the RE7 and 8 they were just... sometimes appearing, but i never cared enough. Unlike Mr X - that GUY was certainly a menace. And Nemesis from Remake, I think, is more of Ustanak, if we talk narratively and gameplay - both of them appear only in scripted sequences and both of them suffer a lot of mutations... although not really seen on Ustanak, all the traumas he takes from Jake and Sherry remain on him until he finally dies in Chapter 5.

Jack is way too fast on Madhouse. He walks so quickly it's almost funny

the Jack jumpscare in the bathroom is on standard difficulty, in mad house this doesn't happen. Mr. X Remake at #1 is totally reasonable since he really is a constant threat roaming around. #2 sould be Jack for me, especially on madhouse. i never got the hype from OG Nemesis since he is completely scripted and easy beatable with a button decision a lot of the times

Mr. X was the worse especially when I played it and my mom decided to vacuum at the same time and I couldn't hear where he was only to run right into him every time. I don't get scared easily by these games or horror in general but Mr. X takes the cake for me. Can you say PTSD? Lol
