Saberspark I feel like you exadurated Lars and Sadie. Lars ditched Sadie for the cool kids in a total of one episode, which resulted in his throat being caught on fire. After that, he's a bit of a snark and a complete coward, but not necessarily a bad person (moreso confused, and pretty much the spitting character of a teenager). Not to mention his recent redemption / potential redemption.
i love my family i love my family i love my family i love my family i love my family i love my family i love my family i love my family I HATE YOU ALL. Who is he kidding? Peter is a total narcissist.
In one episode there was a scene where Lois was leaving a cafe with another guy but they both retreated back inside once they saw Peter and his friends walking their way.
Yeah, a good part of why Goku wasn't around is because he was dead. I mean he's gone years where he's with his family non-stop. But no one mentions that.
I kind of feel like he actually might have been able to spare Gohan and defeat Cell, or at least made himself come off as less manipulative and prevented the necessity of having to sacrifice himself and King Kai. If he had aimed that Kamehameha not at Cell's handsome face, but at the centre mass and enveloped him completely, he'd have won it right there. Instead, Gohan had to pick up the slack after Goku had to sacrifice himself and the situation became a lot more dire.
I feel like the people that are so obsessed wth Harley and the Joker's relationship are those that only saw Suicide Squad or go off of what they heard because when I was a kid, I was able to grasp that what Harley and the Joker had was terrible and every time Harley would be physically abused I felt some sort of fear for her.
@Santiago E. Juárez Martinez ^^^ this. It became some creepy norm online, to ONLY cling to even the vaguest positive traits a character has and ignore all negatives. It's toxic and damaging and it's really scary that this is how people mimic relationships. They stay in abusive relationships because "they used to be nice" or "they got me flowers today"...
@@Viridiiana kinda poisen ivy was getting married but then they decided they didnt wanted to get married and poisen ivy and harley kissed while they were running away from the cops
I doubt it since he would have probably mentioned Lars obvious low self-esteem and willingness to risk his life for others in the newer episodes then again he also didn't mention Sadie trapped the two of them and a kid on an island so maybe he is biased.
It does bring up the question though of if a character is a complete ass for a long time, do they deserve a redemption? If so how hard should they really have to work to earn it? I hated it in Harry Potter when Draco got a get out of jail free card for some last minute redemption and I kind of feel Lars doesn't deserve to be happy either. The best he should be able to get after all the crap is friendship.
Yes, & it's a VERY sad reflection of the dark times we live in.. Nobody really wants true romance & loving relationships anymore. Me, I'm an old school romantic, & I have absolutely no desire to join in on today's modern dating scene. Another sad thing is that I actually know several people that are in horrid relationships, like the ones portrayed here. One of those people being my father.
@@brandonpage7087 You think people in the "good old days" didn't have fucked up relationships? They were probably more fucked, but since we have the Internet now, we can better see all the bad things that happen.
I don't think it's really an issue in fiction and animation, I'm not watching a show/film/anime for "healthy" relationships, I want to see strugle and fucked up relationships and how characters deal with it or overcome it. It'd be boring for cartoon characters to be in plain and normal relationships.
On the list would for sure be Pacifica Northwest's parents from Gravity Falls. They treat her daughter like a pet with a bell that they ring when she stands up for others or does the right moral thing. They don't care about her they just want her to make them look better. She acts cruel to other like people in the Falls and the Pines family because her parents have taught her to do so. She then finds out that her parents are wrong for having treat people they way they have been and rejects that behavior.
Absolutely hate the way Hollywood romanticizes Joker and Harley's relationship especially in the new Suicide Squad. Impressionable young people look up to that and may stay in harmful relationships because of it. Thanks for including it
Harleys crazy and their evil so if you look up to them..your going to jail..you can enjoy them without idolizing...I do..i never thought I would be a fan of a abusive evil couple but it gives them layers to be more interesting and work together so....who would of thought joker wanted a gf..not me growing up
@@razkable There's a huge difference between enjoying a toxic fictional couple because it's interesting and gives layers to the characters (which is what you're doing and why the relationship is there in the first place) and going "omg I want a relationship like that" or "lol this is so me and my bf, we're so #crazy". The sad thing is there are a lot of people who view it that way and Suicide Squad (and a lot of media outside of the official works) annoyingly went the route that caters to that audience, which is a shame because there's a lot you can explore with the relationship that's already there.
Thankfully there’s a harlequin movie coming out soon and she seems to be against joker from what’s shared in the trailer?? So maybe Hollywood is getting the idea
For the record, I have seen the recent episodes of Steven Universe and I see how Lars is changing. Hell, maybe I might need to do a Top 10 Cartoon Redemptions or something lol
Dishonorable mention for this video: Hugh and Lila Test from Johnny Test I don't really see them showing having a good marriage but it's just boring. Hugh is a stay home father who cleans up the house, cooks nothing but meatloaf and yells at his own son. Lila is business woman who works a lot. I mean in Dexter's Laboratory Dexter's parents shows having good strong marriage. Johnny's parents not really. But all I see that they get a divorce when Johnny goes to high school. Plus we have no idea why they marry each other ?
No it's Goku: **lifts up her dress** Chi-chi: GOKU?!?! Goku: I could have sword you were hiding cinnabons undee your dress. Chi-chi: for the 96th time this month, I'm not hiding cinnabons under my dress I'm 7 months pregnant!
i know im the only one but i wont ever agree to this, im a goku fan and inside im sure he loves chi he aint from earth so he isnt gonna understand everything well... and your hating him for that well guess what vegeta stinks to, he may be good to me hes still bad, in my option vegeta and bulma are up there
I think what's funny is that Plankton built Karen and programmed her. He programmed her to be the way she is. She's always snarky to him, and doesn't put up with him lashing out at her. But he programmed her to be like that. He gave her free will and has to deal with it. Maybe he's a masochist and actually likes being humiliated.
Beth and Jerry's failing marriage actually made me cry when I watched the show, it hurts to see them trying to build up pieces that are just falling apart
Whenever I hear people say that they want a relationship like Harley and the jokers then it becomes so obvious that they've never read the comics or seen the cartoon
Ismael Lovera I saw Harley recently beat the shit out of Joker and admit it was an abusive relationship and how no one would ever touch her or treat her like he did and I am so proud of her
My mother said she had one with my dad but she was the Joker and he was Harley. She chose that couple cause the always considered herself insane along with my dad but she is abusive. I’m glad I don’t live with her anymore.
Exactly. Hell in school there was this one couple who dyed their hair harley quinns and jokers from the suicide squad. I am so glad they changed it back
@@someweirdlumpofmeat158 I love Goku too lol. But I have to admit, he is a lousy father and a horrible husband. I wish they developed Chi Chi and Goku's relationship.
@@SaltyBanjos dont try to use logic with them. TFS made so many people think he's a shitty dad and they wont think others wise, even when TFS themselves think that canon goku is a good father and husband and hates that thier parody is taken as gospel now.
For Drew and Charlotte I think it was intentional that their relationship is bad, cus it shows why Angelica is so spoiled and why she acts out. Having a neglectful mother who is always at work and never there for her, and a dad who spoils her to make up for it but doesnt actually know how to parent her properly. Rugrats was honestly pretty deep for what it was, it showed so many different family dynamics. Chuckie being from a single parent household with a single father trying to raise him on own being another one.
When people say they have a relationship like J&H they're probably talking about the Suicide Squad movie. It's still really bad, but romanticizing criminals is kind of a thing people do. I highly doubt most of the people who consider their relationships to be like J&H are actually having any real relationship issues, they just like the characters.
I'd also like to point out that Harley vanished for a while from Joker's life and he didn't seem to care either way, she was gone for a year and he didn't even seem to notice. Why did she vanish? She. Was. Pregnant. She hid their daughter from him for a reason. She left for the entire duration of her pregnancy because "his work is too important". Harleen Quinzel gave up being a psychologist to join up with him, only to go through extreme abuse, a hidden pregnancy, and more.
which is probably the best for them. Like, other than working at the Big Donut, there really isnt anything they have in common, they dont share any hobbies, there is just not romance between them as much as sadie and lars somewhat convinced themselves there was, specially from the episode where they are stranded in an island and they kiss each other, just try to analyze their situation, they are in an island with no way to reconnect with the world, so their only option to have someone is each other, if you look at it that waym it kinda makes sense they had a moment in the island, but as soon as they are back in beach city, all that is gone. I love how Sadie and Lars grew as the show went on, but honestly, I think they are better off as good friends than as a couple, and thats perfectly fine.
Also, that would have been a pretty negative message to send to young people. "If you just stick it out long enough that person you are hopelessly in love with for some odd reason will finally stop treating you like shit and kinda love you back."
Indeed, I that in SU Future, they confirmed that they’re both better as friends than a couple. Especially since now Sadie has a new partner, Chef, and Lars and the Off-Color are going on more adventures in space
It’s possible that Eustace was a good man when they first got together. Age does change people. My grandpa has started to accuse my grandmother of cheating on him since his dementia has taken over. My grandmother has been a stay at home mom since they got together. No time for an affair. Time and not taking care of yourself changes people.
My great grandfather was a gentlemen, until the effects of ww2 ruined him. He became an abusive alcoholic. He abused his wife, Hanna for years! And she eventually died from a alcohol in 1971, shortly after my dad was born. I never met him. He died in the early 80s. But even after his passing, his son (my grandfather) suffered from alcohol and divorce! He eventually died when I was four. 😓
the guy clearly didn't see the ep when Eustace apologized whole heartedly to Muriel and they make up in bed and the sweet music plays...I forget it but its so sweet...they are in love..opposites attract maybe they were arranged as was the style in the olden days and they been through so much their age has a lot to do with his bitter nature and passive aggressive old school built respect but resentment of his long time spouse...Eustace is just a jerk to everyone...that's just who he is..hes old squidward..not getting sex not having kids and not having your dreams come true will shatter your spirit...
"Peter cheats on Lois" Shows us a still image of the episode where Peter is forced to have s*x with his boss, also Louis was aware of that one. But laughs at the idea of a man getting raped by a woman... It's up to you if you want to believe that.
The whole "Goku never kissed his wife!" thing is a HUGE mistranslation error. Basically, Goku being the doof that he is thought Vegeta was talking about something else. Remember that Japanese is a high context language. If you are naive or dumb enough (like Goku), you can misunderstand a LOT of things...and that was the joke of the scene. The issue is that the joke didn't translate to English (a low context language).
Which is weird because it's implied that he kisses his wife when he leaves to go fight the androids after he wakes up from being sick from the heart virus
Also in Goku's defence, he does show some care for Chi Chi when he gets all pissed after Goku Black tells him how he killed Chi-Chi and Goten and in the beginning of Z they seem to have been living as a happy family during the five year skip. After all the Saiyans came, he is a lot more neglectful of his wife since its always about protecting the Earth or fighting strong but he doesn't necessarily run away.
Well, I agree that Goku isn't a "bad" husband, but he's certainly not "good"; And I don't blame him. GOKU WAS TRICKED INTO MARRIAGE!...and probably into his first ever sexual experience, 😰! Then you add onto that chi Chi's constant yelling and intimidation, and her domination of Gohan's childhood and future career path... Chi chi is a control freak who married an illiterate hick with a literal retarded I.Q. (probably around 80-90 for rationality and language), and so owned her firstborns life that he grew up without friends his age! Chi chi is fucking horrible, and it's no wonder everyone is afraid of her! 🤪
I think a more accurate title would be "Top 10 Most UNHEALTHY Cartoon Couples." The word 'worst' might give the wrong idea. Some of these couples were purposefully written as unhealthy relationships to show what a bad couple looks like in order to make the show as a whole stronger. Many relationships are hard and hurtful, and certain shows want to make that clear. The idea of showcasing a bad couple isn't a terrible idea in general, as depending on the couple it can make the show more effective. But saying "worst" implies that the couple brings the whole show down. (To be fair though, a couple of your choices do fall in that category.) Your reasons of why you picked these couples are spot on though, I'm just giving advice title-wise.
I agree. I mean, the Patakis were written as being unhealthily dysfunctional. It builds a pretty good idea of how this family came to exist. A very successful Miriam dropped out of college to marry Bob, and had Olga when she was very young. As time went on, Bob lost interest in Miriam and was more interested in building up his beeper emporium. His only other interest was Olga, who had inherited Miriam's good looks and was on her way to being incredibly successful. Then, when Olga was eleven or twelve, Miriam fell pregnant again. Bob wanted her to have an abortion, but Miriam refused. By the time Olga was twelve, Helga was born, but since her family was preoccupied with her older sister, she was very overshadowed. As such, the all-important family bonds a child needs were not there, and so Helga ended up forming a different attachment: an attachment to the first person who acted like she mattered. Technically, her obsessive behaviour and aggression come from her family, but not only that - if they'd been a supportive network like a family is supposed to, she never would have fallen so hard for Arnold.
Ok, I get Lars is kinda a jerk... but Sadie kinda stranded him in an island, and there was the whole fire donut thing. So um. I have no idea what’s going on with them.
We find out that Muriel was a bit of a bratty kid, and Eustace was very timid. They changed a lot over the years, and I imagine that they met somewhere in the middle.
It's the personality. Seriously, she SHINES with her dry wit, sharp mind, and, as the man says, ENDLESS patience. That's the kind of beauty that leaves you with the "I don't know why but I can't stop thinking about her" feeling.
Octavia Hutchens yeah but Lars has been getting better currently, not his and Sadie's relationship. Currently at this point their relationship still isn't that great.
THANK YOU for calling out Joker and Harley as a couple. I'm soooo tired of hearing people praise them as a "power couple" and ignore the obvious abuse present in the comics and beyond.
blaze yogurt Jerry does but Beth doesn't care that her family goes through life threatening adventures between dimensions she just whines and bitches saying that she doesn't want Rick to leave her again.
Adam Mocha: I'm almost thirty, I don't watch livestreams. The Seuzhuan chicken sauce episode was great though. It was on Adult Swim for a week straight.
"My fault... I didn't get the joke..." I remember watching that episode for the first time as a young kid, and it really weirded me out. Like, not in a way that something like The Adventures Of Mark Twain did where the imagery was so odd sometimes, but in a way where it felt surreal to just behold. You didn't really... you didn't see stuff that blantantly toxic very often. And as I'm older, I now think that this episode is kind of beautiful for that. They showed how truly horrible the two were together, and didn't let up on it at all. It's amazing.
I'm so glad you mentioned the Joker/Harley relationship. While I love the cartoon and find their dysfunctional relationship to be interesting, it absolutely sickens me how people romanticize it. The Joker is a heartless bastard. Love him or hate him, he only cares about himself. He has no soft spots, no desire to do good, he doesn't mean well, etc. His whole character is about how much joy he takes from hurting and killing others. He's not going to make an exception for Harley. He doesn't see her as his equal and goes out of his way to tear her down whenever she has a moment where she feels happy for herself or anything else. You don't want a Joker/Harley relationship. You shouldn't want to abuse your partner. You shouldn't want to not see them as your equal. You shouldn't want to tear them down when they're feeling good. You shouldn't want someone to belittle you. You shouldn't want someone to manipulate you. You shouldn't want someone who treats you like Joker treats Harley, and you shouldn't want to act like a Joker to your s.o. Sorry for the rant, it's just.... disgusting lmao.
Yeah it’s disturbing 😶 reminds me of how people do that with Sam and Freddie given they were portrayed as toxic too and Sam never TRIED to improve herself 😅
The biggest problem with joker's relationship with Harley is that he doesn't see her as anything but a tool if she ever becomes useless to him or a burden to him he'll throw her away at the drop of a hat and anybody who thinks they have a relationship like them really needs to reevaluate their lives
I have a head canon that Bob and Miriam struggled to conceive and ended up with their miracle baby Olga. Then were surprised by an unwanted second baby.
Harley Quinn actually has stockholm snydrom. Its a phenonem, mostly linked to a post-traumatic-disorder, that often appears in abusiv relationships or hostage takings. The victim oftne believe that this is what it deserves, often even sympathizes with the aggresor or romatizes them. I actually had someone as my best friends with diagnosted stockholm snydrom, his girlfriend was highly abusiv and cheated on him in regular bases. As he finally realized how bad this relationship was, he even attempted suicide. His stockholm syndrom was caused by his childhood, his mum married to a highly absusiv man himself, a really violent alcoholic who even killed his mother. Pretty sad story... I get really angry when I see post like ''I want a relationship like Joker and Harley.'' Like... No... No, you dont.
Hello there. I'm sorry for what happened to your friend, but something needs clarifying here. Harley and the Joker have a horrible, HORRIBLY toxic relationship--but it's not Stockholm syndrome. Your friend didn't have that either, unless he was literally held prisoner, trafficked, or abducted by that ex-girlfriend. Stockholm syndrome is when a prisoner falls in love with their captor. The Joker was previously held at Arkham, which puts him in the "prisoner" role--but Harley was his psychiatrist. She was not a jailer, nor did he love her as much as she did. However she was still manipulated into breaking him out. When the captor falls in love with their captive, that is Lima Syndrome. This does not apply to them, either--because again, Harley was doing her job as a psychiatrist beforehand. It's closer, though. What they all went through is just a byproduct of abuse. That ex was horrible, but neither syndrome can apply without (un)lawful incarceration, a hostage situation, or a kidnapping. Stockholm syndrome can be abusive in relationships, but not all abusive relationships involve Stockholm syndrome. Again, I'm sorry.
There's a syndrom fitting to Harley's obsession. Have you not watched Back to the Future ? The doctor falls in love with the patient = Florence Nightingale syndrome
I'm so sorry. I had a friend who was in an mental abusive relationship. Thankfully, he is no longer in that relationship but the damage is already done.
There is a theory about Dale actually knowing about Nancy's affair with John Redcorn and Joesph not being his son: He doesn't divorce Nancy not just because she's hot and more financially stable than him, but because he's seen what divorce can do to a person, especially a childhood friend. Bill became a MESS after his divorce and would do anything for emotional connections. Dale is afraid of that happening to him so he puts up with Nancy's infidelity. But he does have the ultimate revenge in his eyes: raising Joesph as his son. Joesph looks up to Dale and not John, and Dale teaches him everything in life that he knows. He is always there for the boy for everything. John Redcorn agonizes over this but it's karma for him sleeping with another man's wife. So if this theory is true, then I understand Dale a little more now.
An interesting theory. Dale is however an extreme Conspiracy nut, he has an incredible aversion to facts and reality (which is why he has such a breakdown when he realizes the government's official story regarding JFK's assassination is true and has a personality flip), refusing to accept the fact he's the guy with a green hat (A Chinese euphemism for someone who's being cheated on) isn't unsurprising. However being in denial and knowing that they're cheating but refusing to admit it to himself at a conscious level is in keeping with his personality.
No. 6 You forgot to mention that there was an episode where plankton deactivates Karen to date Mr Krabs’ mum. I feel like that shows how bad he is in a relationship.
I really don't get how people can view Harley and Joker as being the goal for a relationship. I don't even read the comics but I KNOW it's canon that Harley comes to see HERSELF that it was an abusive situation when she gets herself out of it. I just don't get people.
I think the biggest thing people miss about that "relationship" is that they are both, literally, insane. The Joker is who knows how many levels of crazy and managed to seduce/mentally break his own therapist and turn her into Harley. Loving or hating the characters themselves is a personal thing, but yes, I think more people need to put up the DO NOT TAKE DATING ADVICE FROM INSANE MURDERERS posters...
The whole Pataki family was so screwed up in Hey Arnold. I remember one episode where Olga was gonna marry some guy she'd been dating for a really short time, and Bob was like, "Maybe you should wait a little longer to make sure you really want to do this?" and Miriam was like, _"You won't want to."_ Heh, it was funny, but also sad. The show also implied on at least one occasion that Helga thought her parents would be happier if she wasn't around. There was one episode where she dreamed she had been erased from existence, and her parents were suddenly all lovey-dovey and giddy with each other. It was really depressing, actually. (Also, damn, that show had some good writing.) I feel like Oskar and Suzie Kokoshka from Hey Arnold should get a shout-out too. Remember how Oskar was a lazy bum who couldn't hold down a job and expected Suzie to do everything for him, and then whined when she didn't have time to pay attention to him? And how Suzie was constantly stressed and worn out all the time? Yeah, they were a mess. I remember one episode where Suzie finally kicked Oskar out, and Arnold tried to get them back together, and all I could think was, "Hmm, Arnold, sweetie, I know you want the world to be all sunshine and butterflies, but maybe you should stay out of this one."
Also, ugh, Family Guy. I have to say, that clip at the beginning of Lois beating the crap out of Peter is just really not funny. I know Peter's an asshole and probably deserves it, but still. I'm so sick of these shows that think that just because it's a woman beating a man, that makes it funny - or at the very least, acceptable. Because women are supposed to be the weak ones, right? And a guy who gets beat up by a woman must be a pussy? Hahaha*NO.*
Dachusblot Hey Arnold really is one of the most underrated cartoons of all time. The themes and issues the show went through were amazing and I enjoyed the cartoon for childish reasons growing up. Now though as an adult, I honestly love the show more.
THANK YOU for reminding me of Suzie and Oskar! Oskar was so awful! Even as a kid, I hated him and wanted SO much better for Suzie! Wish she would have gotten it!
For the love of GOD, the Joker And Harley Quinn's " relationship " is NOT a relationship, but an extreme case of " Stockholm Syndrome ". She is obsessive/falsely in-love with the one who captured and brainwashed her. The Joker CLEARLY has shown zero feelings for her nor does he ever recognize them as any sort of couple, she's his sidekick. One-sided Stockholm. It's already had a meme made in response to the people who call it a relationship and it's people saying what I just said, the fact that it's an extreme case of Stockholm Syndrome.
I like Beth and Jerry's relationship because it seems realistic. They know they're disfunctional and run back to each other. The show does a good job of portraying a bad relationship and how the family's messed up because of it
One reason why I like Rick and overlook his many faults is that he will never let Jerry forget that he entrapped Beth with a teen pregnancy. Seeing him crap on Jerry is cathartic, and anytime Jerry gets a win over Rick, like the season 2 and 3 finale, gets under my skin. Beth isn't entirely perfect herself. Nobody on the show is except maybe Bird Person. But I find Jerry to be exceptionally miserable and loathsome.
@JoeRingo118 It's not a masterplan, it's a very simple plan. Something a simple guy like Jerry could think of and delude himself into thinking it's no big deal. That's not really bias, that's not liking the kind of person Jerry is.
i recently saw an ad for a new harley quinn show thats gonna be airing on amazon prime, and im pretty sure its gonna be about her finally realizing she doesnt need joker anymore and that shes done being put down by him idk bout yall but im pretty hype about it
the joker and harley is supposed to be a showcase for bad relationships, that's on of the reasons why the latest movie glorifying their sick and abusive relationship was so bad. It's not supposed to be something that people desire. Also you should've talked more about how good of a narrative point it was for Beth and Jerry to be separated, for being the number 2 on your list it was weird how such a logical decision wouldn't get more praise from a reviewer like you.
Adriaan Sluijs I think the list was made before season 3 really got going, when only the first episode of that season had been revealed. Otherwise, I just know Saber would've called bullshit on what happened in the season 3 finale
I'm *so* happy so see someone agree with Harley's relationship, I always felt so sorry for her being in such an abusive relationship and having people think it was beautiful always upset me. It was SO satisfying to see her in the recent comics dump his backside in a suitably violent way. Funnily enough she is actually one of my favorite relationships as well, her friendship blossoming into potential love with Ivy is often shown as sweet and poignant in both fan and official comics...
I feel like some of the people who ship Harley and Joker and want a relationship have a twisted view of what Dom/Subs relationships are like. Some people actually get off on hurting others or getting hurt.
Yeah, DSM relationships aren’t supposed to incorporate actual abuse. The sheep idolizing HQ clearly don’t understand that a person needs to have a sense of identity and self worth to be in a positive DSM relationship. HQ is mentally unstable but silly women think she’s a good role model. Not the show’s fault.
As a masochist, I don't find their relationship sexually appealing. While some individuals do derive sexual pleasure from pain, that does not mean that all pain or a constant abusive lifestyle is what most masochists want. In a healthy BDSM relationship, though the sadist or dominant seems to be in control, the masochist or submissive has the power to say no. In abusive relationships one partner has all the power.
