@SuperYtc1 killcams can help with reducing cheating. You are aware xdefient has a serious hit reg problem , in case you aren't aware, emptying half a mag into someone and still getting killed isnt fair. I've also died behind cover and around corners. I used the shotgun at close range only to get a hitmarker and then get killed by a guy with a pistol??? The hit reg is inconsistent and having killcams would allow people to record thier game footage to help ubisoft with thier net code and anticheat . Killcams aren't just in cod, many games have it. It would also be nice for xdefient to include a play of the game camera, see who helped thier the team the most. I want xdefient to succeed, its better than call of duty but it could be improved
They need to add pinging into this game, even if it's just to people in your party. You can't have a team based game with no way to communicate with teammates.
@@CallMeMonti I do have VOIP off as well, for the same reasons. 12 year olds screaming into a 5$ microphone while their mom shouts from the balcony in the background because the dog shat in front of the door? No thanks. But for proper teamplay in ranked it would be crucial
Tip for the homies below. So you'd think the Echelon faction (Splinter Cell) is all about suppressors and running around solo. No, the passive, Low Profile, means any and all actions that would normally ping you on the radar are completely negated. This means suppressors (except if you want to reduce your noise) are absolutely pointless. Go for another muzzle attachment. Also the MP5A2 beginner class has the full-on suppressor which reduces your effective range drastically. The light suppressor does not have a damage range issue. The mag, light weight, and all the other goodies are fine, but that suppressor totally neuters your gun. Make a custom build and slap a red dot asap. I performed so much better because I had more range and a better sight picture vs being reliant on useless attachments (for Echelon). Also to piggy back Ace, emp will stop those Phantoms very, very nicely. Fisher would be cackling over destroying mag walls and shield. A defenseless Phantom is a dead Phantom.
Oh and if you wanna be a complete gremlin on the field. Get the cloak and run around with a shotgun, especially in the tournament map. You'll earn your Sonar Goggles very quickly, agent.
Gonna make this a tip thread since your top comment. Know your weapon class. If you're running an Assault Rifle kit, know that you excel in medium engagements. If you're running a Shotgun or SMG, know that you excel in close engagements. If you're running a DMR or Sniper, know that you excel in long-range engagements theoretically(game balance for these guns are off and they will 1-2 tap you in close engagments as there is very little flinch in the game) What this means is, if you're getting smoked by some guy running a Vector the whole game, and you're running an Assault Rifle, you need to either switch weapons to a Shotgun or SMG or you need to capitalize on your distance advantage. The vector and all close engagements weapons have a massive damage drop off the further you are from there so keep that in the back of your mind as you're playing. If you have the opportunity to get down a narrow short hallway or an open distant field, you want to go down the open field. That is because if that Vector player chooses to engage you there, you will be able to capitalize on the distance between the two of you and put more damage down on them before they can kill you. Now had you chosen to run down the hallway, Vector player pops out of a doorway and mag dumps you before you can even pull your gun out. To add onto this, know what map you're playing. A map like Liberty tends to be open, excellent for medium-long range play but somewhat difficult for close engagement weapons so if you had to choose in a competitive environment, you'd go with a rifle over an SMG. Then you have Echelon's HQ or Arena, a close engagement weapon's wet dream. Narrow hallways, sharp turns, funnels, and plenty of cover all to the benefit of a mobile SMG player who can bob and weave through the cover while reloading to continue mag dumping. Don't take a rifle in this situation take a close engagment weapon. Make sure you swap kits throughout the game to match the situation, if you're playing escort and you are on the attack, take a Phantom character with a Rifle and sit down on your shots whereas if you're defending get a close engagement weapon and stay in the enemies face so they can't effectively push the objective.
@@Lewis-ec5snI was worried this would be a fun game to pick up on the weekend for the boys. I’ll let em know it’s for people without full time jobs and a spreadsheet.
In CoD, Hardpoint or Kill Confirmed mode 90% of the time I'm the top player, everyone else is just lying low trying to collect a few kills or doing challenges. In this game, however, 50-75% of the team is constantly playing objective.
It’s so refreshing to be absolutely smashed on by another player and know it’s not due to an algorithm which decided your date, the players were matched against based on connection are simply better
Exactly why I deleted cod. Having fun with xdef for now but getting bored of the maps so hope they got some new ones in the pipeline. Great not to have add ons pushed in your face all the time too
If you are struggling at the game just keep pushing. It is OK to not be good at every game you play. Get used to the movement, the guns, etc and you will get better eventually. Do not give up or blame the game for you being bad at the beginning.
Youre going to have the usual COD sweats on here and they will bash you on the KD. I dont care as there is nothing to be competitive unelss they have a tournament or something. good motivation hermano
Game has a lot of cheese tho. Two shot weapons need to go. Snipers are too easy to use and shit like shields that you can shoot through but enemies can’t is lame
Same! I love how the game massively rewards shot placement and accuracy. Don’t get me wrong, the game needs some work, but I have been having a blast, thus far.
12:39 I still remember when I first heard Ace give the mindset advice back in the BO3 days. I stopped blaming everything else for my problems. Smiled and laughed at situations that would've previously made me mad. Genuinely looked at how I can learn from my mistakes. It improved me as a gamer, but also as a person. I applied it to my education, sports, and relationships. I feel like that kind of mindset has slipped away from me recently and hopefully I can pick it back up. Thanks Ace!
If you have trouble tracking enemies, try to switch to some color-blind mode (don't know which one), every enemy then shows up in bright yellow instead of red which sometimes goes well with the background
One thing people often forget is this isn’t cod. It plays similar but it has its own identity and style. It’s more akin to an objective based hero shooter like overwatch, but with the class customization of standard arcade shooters. It’s a nice mix that imo blends the gameplay elements very well. It’s also has satisfying gunplay and team dynamics
I'm a COD player myself and just tried Xdefiant tonight for the first time, and dear oh dear, your tips are all excellent X. You da man. I always learn something ❤
@@alexfrimershtein347Echelon (Splinter Cell) faction's passive hides them from the mini-map regardless of action performed. Firing weapon, gun kills, melee kills, damaging equipment, killing ultimates, kills with ultimate, ability / equipment kills, etc., they're literally invisible to the mini-map 24/7 and don't need to run suppresor on their guns. They also have invisibility cloaks / active camo as an ability choice. Which can only be countered by EMP grenades or damaging them, they aren't too hard to see up close, but can get blend-in with the background at further distances; you'll just see a slight blur if they're far away.
Definitely agree with that. The minimap is something I tend to look at all the time in when I play an FPS game. Before XDefiant came out I was playing TF2 and looking at it was super easy to see and not at all hard, in fact sometimes it felt distracting. For a closer comparison game style wise the same was true for Black Ops 3 and even a bit for BO4. Yet for XDefiant it feels like the minimap just isn't there because its so hard to even see any of the red dots or teammates dots period. I hope they up the size and contrast a bit more so it can come into play overall. Because I barely even look at it anymore despite being someone who used it constantly ever since they had started playing CoD since Black Ops 1 on the Wii and 360 days and even on other games like shooters for the Wii like The Conduit and even a little bit of GoldenEye.
A thing i came to really like is how you can react to getting killed, i usually actively try to think how it made me feel and choose accordingly, really helped me to relieve some emotions and stay focused instead of tilting
This is an awesome video. I know that it’s aimed at “beginners” who have a couple of hours on FPS games but honestly, I know so many people who have several days on COD that don’t do half of these tips which is worrying!
Some games cause us to learn really bad habits. After watching this video, I realize I have after binging hundreds of hours on COD's small map Playlist, despite having thousands of hours of fps experience
Based off the last half of this video, I think it’s an awesome opportunity to bring back your old gameplay analysis series! I’d really love to see some real world do’s and dont’s for the less aware newer players based on regular peoples clips. I learned a decent amount from those videos, would be cool to see it again.
Biggest thing I want is more love for solo players. It needs to SHOW WHOS PARTIED together in pre game lobby. Currently it has no way to see if you're against a party. That shouldn't be hidden information. Either that or add a mercenary playlist. If not, as a solo player that might push me away from this game. I don't wanna play parties then get bad teammates on top of that.
This 100%. I’m so sick of getting 50-60 kills with 3k objective score and breaking 10k score and losing cuz no one on my team can go positive unless they stay away from damn objective.. oh look at my 3-4 KD with 200 obj score. If that. Ego Shitters.
Good stuff Ace! Hard truths. I came here expecting to hear the game is broken. Everything in this video helped immensely. While I'm learning the game, I've been using the Libertad faction and just sitting back with my team. I'm still dying a lot, but I end every game with either "most healing done" or "winning streak". It makes a huge difference.
some tips I'd give regarding Phantom abilities based on my experince playing as and against them 1) A phantom's mag wall blocks bullets both ways, so always try and shoot around it. Also if you're using grenades it won't block them, so you can use them to either kill a phantom using their mag wall or at the very least force them to move into an uncomfortable position away from it. EMPs will also disable them entirely and allow you and your team to gun them down with relative ease. (Also if you can work around the innately slow movement speed, try using an LMG if you're constantly dying to phantoms with mag walls set up as they'll shred through them faster and if you also have one set up will help compensate for you maybe being the only one shooting at them or allow you to destroy their's and then subsequently them first. But be warned: the belt fed LMGs have 9 second reloads and the RPK starts with only a 45 round mag.) 2) A phantom's ultimate hard limits their range, so you can get fairly free damage on it so long as you're not in or close by to the dome. And like the mag wall, it doesn't block grenades, except unlike the mag wall they move very slowly so a well timed grenade in the dome will very likely kill them and any allies of their's who're close by. Also, try to get rid of their allies first if you can do so as they're VERY MUCH relying on them to kill you if you're far away. Lastly, if I'm not mistaken EMPs do not disable ultimates so don't try to use an EMP against them because you'll just give them and their allies a free or much easier kill due to the time you have your gun lowered when throwing one. 3) Force riot shield phantoms to get into either open areas or bait them into getting themselves surrounded. If you can get your teammates to help you then they'll very likely end up DOA. But try not to let them get too close to your teammates, and if they try to focus your teammates before killing them use that chance to shoot them. I *think* you may be able to shoot through the glass hole on the shields but I very rarely encounter people using said shields, but even then you can still shoot their heads and feet if you jump (or are above them) or aim low enough, however jumping would require you to be very close and likely end in your death if you don't one shot them.
Don't give up! I'm a really average player (for example I had to stop playing Apex Legends simply because I can't keep up with all the movement tricks in that game, I like pointing and shooting lol) and my first 20 or so games in Xdefiant were always me bottom fragging and high skilled players just bullying me. I kept at it, unlocked some attachments that helped, and learned the game and classes better, and now I make play of the game and top fragger 7 times out of 10. So keep it at m'bros!
My biggest complaints about this game are the controller aiming and hitreg. Even on Standard, small movements seem super exaggerated, so I'm struggling with precise aim
Turning my min threshold way down and putting my ADS multiplier to like .5 made the aiming feel a lot better. The netcode is still ass though, and the recoil is really weird in this game
great video, Ace. One tip I would add: because the ttk is much higher in this game compared to COD, you need to be more aware of the gun you have. If you have an AR, try to avoid close range areas of the map because you will lose to SMGs. Likewise, if you have a close range gun, try to avoid open areas because longer range weapons will destroy you.
I've been playing shooters for a long time, and TBH I'm struggling more in this game than most. I find the mid air strafing and constant jumping super annoying. Trying to adjust and push through the frustration. The game has a ton of potential. I hope they keep improving and polishing.
@@kezzab7961 its just not fun to start bunny hopping every where. At least in apex movement takes skill but here just bind jump to scroll wheel with little movement penalty
That last tip is HUGE. Always blaming other people or situations is something that most people fall victim to. Its hard to break the habit but if you do then you will improve quite alot, and more often that not, enjoy the game more! Great vid Ace.
Nah it prob be dead when bo6 come out bc you know how big that game will be but hope xdefiant success long term so call of duty have to do something to stay on the top of FPS .
Honestly not having SBMM is mentally refreshing. Playing cod and overwatch it feels like no matter what I do, the match has already been manipulated and makes it more exhausting to play knowing I have to hard carry and still lose. With no SBMM I blame nothing and I’m having a blast just KNOWING the outcome wasn’t predetermined. I guess attitude is everything, but I’m enjoying this more than I should. Reminds me of Crysis 2 multiplayer for some reason. Just fun and not too serious.
Don't beat yourself up if you were killed by someone using a sniper. There's no flinch in the game so a skilled sniper is going to win any 1v1 because they 1 tap leaving no time for you to put damage down, the only time you may have a chance is if you get the drop on them but again, there's no flinch so their camera will remain steady rather than jerking up despite being shot allowing them to flick to you really quick.
I noticed how wicked snipers are. No flinch? Really? I just assumed (reasonably) that they were just way better than me. Probably are too. But 0 flinch mechanic is not good.
Lot of times in tactical based shooter, the scapegoat is always inept teammates, for a lot of the same reasons mentioned here. Not wanting to play the object, not pushing objectives and simply wanting to turle back and camp corners. You said it as well. That simply camping and getting a high k/d is only going to take player so far in this game. It's also going to negativity affect other players and thier ability to do well in the game. Because there is only so much a single player actually can do, when thier teammates aren't helpful at all. Sad part is, a lot of players are going to jump into xdefiant with that COD mindset. Because that is what the game is being marketed as. The game is way more in line with a game like Overwatch than COD.
Unfortunately that seems to be the part of the game that's least fun, the OverSuck elements. The part of the game that feels most like playing COD is awesome.
Wasnt sure if i would get on with this game but after many hours i cant gwt enough of it, so good really like the lane feel to the map, feels like im learning map position like in CS go, but with way fater pacing. I got so mucj to learn which again builds part of the enjoyment of the game
The hit detection for me has been dreadful. Ive been getting shot around walls every single game and its almost unplayable. Is this a common issue or something on my end?
I get shot around walls all of the time. Basically you have to change your mindset of last second cover, that isn't going to save you. Instead I fully commit to duels and that has helped
Coming from Call of Duty to this game was jarring at first there are some things I'm not used to like being able to move while in mid air. I did find myself going lone wolf in most of my games only to find I would run into 2 or (rarely) 3 players at once. Good video ace this gives me more of an idea how to actually play the game and how the factions work.
For the slower TTK topic, try using an attachment that increases rate of fire... I found that added recoil is pretty negligible, and I can outgun SMGs up close a lot more frequently now...
TTK is not slow. The weapon balancing in this game is some of the worst. You can melt people pretty easily with the right weapons, and of course the bad ones won't feel as good.
Watched this video. Changed my settings started straffing and jumping more dropped 49 kills with 9 deaths 2 streaks above 10 and got player of the game cheers ace!
I've personally been both used to the way the bullets work In xDefiant but also REALLY feeling the latency issues with the bullets seemingly not connecting at all. If you're turning your screen slightly to the left or right while consistently shooting, you'll see what I mean. The bullets are about a half sec away from where you're aiming at the time you pull the trigger while turning your screen to shoot. This basically means that unless someone Is right In front of you, you need to be leading your shots by half of a character model against who ever you're shooting to stay consistent. The bullets do not come out as fast as the older COD games do. Keep that In mind !
This is the second video. I've heard you say that spawns are intuitive. Why do i feel like im getting shot in the backnout of spawn constantly. Are they flipping as soon as i run out? Is the hot shot mode? Im always runnig into people's faces but always getting shot in the back
sounds like you are either playing the wrong gamemodes or have utterly no gamesense. learn to play and learn how the maps work before spewing your stupid comments
Flanking, usually. I've noticed people flank a lot more often in this game than others because you can't just instantly drop to the ground when you see someone. Unlike CoD if it's gonna spawn one person at the enemy spawn to flip them, it'll do so with everyone else too. It's also way harder to hear people than it should be given ib my experince you can't always trust footstep sounds not to just be friendly footsteps or even your own in some cases.
Having the same issue. A lot of the later attachments significantly reduce recoil, but it seems like spray control, like pulling in the opposite direction of recoil, just isn't a thing in this game. Your gun just continues going up, and if you pull harder you just go off target. The only solution is to burst fire.
To track targets I had to change the sensitivity based on feel rather than sticking to my usual cm per rotation - my sensitivity is 10-15% faster than on any other fps I play. On mouse and keyboard. Maybe this helps someone else too
Tip I think you forgot to add ace, a college instructor told me once when I was frustrated with a failure in my machine class "if you aren't having fun you aren't doing it right", at the end of the day it's a game, make sure your having fun and if that fun to frustration balance tips towards frustration, take a step back, get up, grab a water, walk the dog, read a verse, or just take a break and realize. It's gonna be alright, you're putting in the work you will get better, Just have fun doing it, DONT LET PERFECT BE THE ENEMY OF GOOD. Have fun y'all and happy memorial day weekend.
Us og cod players that had quit cod, that's how we all started. We didn't have sbmm to protect us. A lot of people felt this way: seeing the guy in the opposite team go off and stomped the lobby and strive to be that guy. Eventually we became that guy stomping the lobby and in xdefian, us ogs are stomping. Just keep in mind that not all games you're going to stomp since you will get into a sweaty game here and there, where it's back and forth. And games where its super easy.
Its a fun game, something cod hasnt been for a while. I dont worry about kd, i just complete challenges, try out different guns and just play to destress.
As someone who primarily plays tactical shooters now it took a couple hours to adjust and forgot about minimaps 😂😂 So this definitely helps me. Playing HLL requires different habits so I appreciate this video a ton
Just wish there was a way to move minimap separately from other hud elements. It's so far away out I can't see it without removing vision from what's in front of me or might might pop up. And I don't want to get other hud elements too close. So hope they patch and gives us a way to move everything.
A better and shorter guide for begginers: Play the way that works for you and learn from your mistakes, i believe you have at least a basic IQ and you can play without help. If you like camping, do it, you will get better at it! Remember that defensive tactics like ambush counters some offensive tactics and rushing counters some defensive tactics. ;)
My best tip is to not just sprint into battle immediately. Most game modes involve controlling some kind of area so picking an area to control with good cover can make it really hard for the enemies to move into aggressive positions against your team. Enemies will often be very impatient and just run into rooms full sprint giving you plenty of opportunities to get easy kills and then take the positions they should have been defending. I like controlling flank positions to make sure my team doesn't get caught from behind by a sneaky player. It better allows them to focus on objectives.
@@kingchiles4328 fair, they have their uses but certain matchups are just bad for secondary right now, i only ever use it in a gunfight if i have no primary ammo and am only a shot or two off the kill then its hightailing time to reload in a safer position XD
Just love that Ubisoft factions are in this. Wouldn’t be sick to have the assassins creed faction in this!? Lost it seeing DedSec/ Watchdogs in this! Addicted to the game 🤣
Thats a network issue that the devs are aware of. It's actually the MOST stated thing on their feedback. It is frustrating but it's been out 3 days so I'd give them at least a month to smooth out their servers. They haven't had over 3 million players playing at once on their servers until now. Remember halo infinite. Took them 2 years to finish any updates that are meaningful. This game has already had 2 updates that have helped smooth it out more and more. Og cod had the same issue with dying around corners and ttk miss match feelings for over 10 years
I like the game but the connection is terrible on EU servers on ps5, it's consistently terrible for, I jump back on cod and it's fine, I'm shooting first and getting ghost hit markers, I'm not actually hitting the person, even though I'm aiming at them, such a shame
Yesterday I was at 0.7, today I have improved to 1.6 (if the ingame stats are accurate)! I think the latest patch had a noticeable positive effect on hit detection. But on some maps I'm much better, e.g. on Arena I can even reach K/D 3.0-4.0, but on Attica Heights or Echelon HQ I'm unable to do better than 0.5.
Going off of what top comment / MovieKiller said: DON'T play this game like it's CoD. I'm seeing high KDR players in matches that have little to no objective score. But I'm also seeing players struggle to stay in fights, by parting off, attempting to flank without using their abilities, not sticking with healers and refusing to play objectives. This is NOT a traditional deathmatch FPS experience and I'm already sick and tired of the CoD fanboys that are transitioning over, thinking this game will scratch that itch they think they want. Your KDR means absolutely nothing if you're strictly looking for kills and hoping your team will carry on objective plays. The support system is great too, if nobody on your team is running barricade or heals, play support. Back your team up, push forward and take the L so your teammates that have abilities charged can get on the objective. This is the type of game that'll still allow weaker players to thrive, even in Ranked, by playing a support role. Like Ace just said, avoid being a long wolf in fights. Be the player that you team needs, by backing them up. There's nothing wrong with having more assists than single kills, or having more objective score and a lower KDR than other players. Confidence doesn't neccesarily get you killed, but it doesn't exactly help your team get the win. Don't feel struggled when you choose to be a team player and provide support. Effort means a lot more than your KD.
You can edit your loadout and faction mid-game. Don't be afraid to switch things up if you're not making any headway in a match. Enemy doing heavy pushes or heavy defenses with phantoms? Swap to EMPs grenades to instantly break both types of their shields. Got Echelons wrecking flanks? Try proximity mines (bonus if they're using the cloak since they can't shoot them without breaking the stealth or risk it running out by going further around it, if they notice it that is).
I'm not that good at this game (mostly the opposite) but my tip would be to never give up and keep trying. Also try out different guns, may end up liking a new gun.
its called bunny hopping in xedfiant it seems to work like it dod in the old cod for example where u keep momentum when jumping like the old shooters like quake and unreal tournament (cod had it for ahwile as well.
That probably means you’re a below average player. Under a 1kd? I carry a 2kd in cod and have a 1.5 on XD for now and I feel they are pretty comparable honestly. The lobbies are nicer in XD.
I know it do well view wise but you should make an in depth general (not game specific) spawn guide for how to actually figure these things out like you mentioned
I love this game. So inclusive. They even included a chick with skin pigmentation sickness. Game suck though, but I'll play to support Sweet baby inc and those daring devs.
Plus, I wanted to feel represented, but I couldnt find a single white male operator. Instead, it's just female latinx and afros everywhere. That's good, I want to be as more inclusive as possible, so nevermind. Good job, sweet baby inc !
@@gamerrevoluton I can tell that GXDivider is being sarcastic, but he's just another one of those right wing guys who thinks any kind of diversity in media is a bad thing.
I been doing pretty good but i’ll get into some lobbies where it’s a full team of bunny hopping strafing hopping maniacs and idk my hops aren’t nearly as high or fast as theirs
Check challenges in the profile section for weapon and skin unlocks. Also as others have stated, switching to your pistol makes your movement speed much higher and this also affects your movement while using the shield with the phantoms. This helped alot in getting the 25 kills for the rhino skin for phantom. And counter shield point: shield users can not crouch, shoot their legs, also their sides are pretty exposed too.
I’m really loving this game so far. I don’t know if it’s because we just had back to back MW2 and MW3 but it feels refreshing. I also love how everyone on the teams are actually playing for the objective. Nobody is sitting and really camping other than snipers or people regenerating health. But the game keeps things moving and I’m all for it. Only gripe so far, and not sure if it’s just me but in game voice chat sounds muffled and very inconsistent. May need to hop on Discord but sound quality for voice chat isn’t great.
MY Tip for New Players: Pick Echelon > Intel Suit if your team doesn't have one, or even if you have 1 still pick it and use your Intel Suit in between the other teammates. This ability is OP and requires no skill to use! 6:57 FOR SURE AGREE, The MOVEMENT in this game is Fing crazy once you get used to it. The strafe jump into a full speed slide is OP for Challenging people once you learn how to do it.
once the practice zone is live and fully functional with bots that is where most of my time will be spent. I got better at cod from going to private matches and just building muscle memory. no matter how long or when you started playing we all have bad habits that we can break to elevate our game. One bad habit for example is I tend to stop shooting during a gun fight even when the enemy is clear not eliminated. its not often but I started to work on being aware that it happened rather than just saying I stopped shooting. Meaning that on that very next gunfight I hold the trigger down no matter what. I find it fun and it brings life to a lifeless genre. FPS games are all the same. Which means that if you can point and shoot straight in one game you can learn to do it in another.
My biggest complaint is that the majoirty of random players i come across Do Not play objective and only go for kill....super annoyong in games like escort
