Funny thing is The 2019 release was a live action remake of a Disney ripoff of an Anime.... Talk about trying to make more money out of nothing. They revamped a movie they didn't even create.
I have a feedback for this new format joe: Can you put the name of the movie at the bottom of the screen after the number screenshow up (just like with video games). Because there are movies that not everyone know about and by putting the name tag on the screen, we can keep track of which is which when you guys just sitting and dicussing with not so much footage of the movie shown
Gaspar Noé 's movies are clearly not for everyone... and there is a difference beween a bad movie ( like the fanatic) and an experimental movie you just can't appreciate.
So true I can accept no liking it but to claim it as one of the worst movies of the decade shows that he doesn’t appreciate filmmaking and choreography
I agree. Even if someone doesn't like the movie itself, idk how they couldn't appreciate the editing, cinematography and overall camera work of the movie.
Movies are better in the right setting and if your in the right frame of mind. Alot of these worst movies can be watched and be enjoyed if the environment is right. This was just three guys opinions but that is kinda what you are looking for when you watch reviews, what other people think.
I've always loved the cheesiness of Chucky after the first couple of movies, I watched them for the laughs and some creative deaths. Honestly, I like the movie, ONLY because it was a different adaptation of Chucky. Hell, I liked Chucky enough to watch the movie twice, don't regret it, find it funny.

The Force Awakens also sucked. I hated it. It changed the direction the originals were going with the Jedi and the Repibluc. So the Jedi and Republic were wiped out? Leah and Solo only had one kid, and that kid kills his dad? What?? Now they're implying there can't be anymore Jedi or Sith?? And whoever's said they're can't be more than two Sith?? Yeah, the leader always has an apprentice, but why can't there be other Sith force users? The whole thing sucked. The Solos should have had other siblings that turn against each other, than maybe a redemption story at the end. The entire trilogy sucked.
@@m4rcin847 ´Polar is based on a spanish online comic strip. I liked it a lot and all my friends as well. Maybe it's a cultural thing. Sometimes movies work pretty different certain parts of the world. Just my opinion :)
I watched Climax after having it recommended and it had decent reviews. It had some great cinematography with the long shots but I hated it. It was awful.
My family tried to watch cats at home. We did NOT finish it 🤦🏽♀️ I actually walked away to go upstairs take a nap while they were still trying to watch it - I’m just glad I didn’t go with my cousin to see it in theaters like my mom had suggested when I said I was bored one day smh lol
In my opinion calling TROS one of the worst movies of 2019 is over the top like I get people dont like it and that’s fine but I don’t see how it would be one of the worst
Stop doing remakes Stop doing star wars and the Terminator over and over. Sick of them. How about making movies with an original idea ffs? Sick of the same BS year in year out.
@@mharizsaifuddin7059 Oh, get it now, sorry. English is not my native language btw. Well, now I don't understand why he decided to censore that word :/ I mean, it's just his opinion.
OJ: "I wasn't smart. I didn't bring two beers and had to get up and buy another." Other Joe, sounds like you were actually smarter. Gave you an excuse to walk away from the movie for a few minutes.
I actually saw Climax in theaters and LOVED it. It's choreography is breathtaking and so is the cinematography and on the big screen it is a sight to behold. All the actors are actually dancers but I thought they did a good enough job. The director is Gaspar Noe, the man behind Irreversible and Enter The Void which are both awesome. I think he has a psychologically draining style/feel to his films but like it. Guess it's a taste thing but I was mezmerized by the movie.
"They did a bunch of coke in the 80's and then they wrote this", pretty much the backstory of half of the stuff that came out in the 80's, in all fairness.

@@legendaryc4 Not really, there was a lot of movies that he liked. The only difference is that he never really jumps praise for just good movies like Joe sometimes does
SO fun story: My whole family likes Stephen King stuff, so we went to see IT 2 in the theatre. There was two other families in the showing for about 15 people total. The previews were all Disney and kiddy so we were a little confused, and then the Lion King started playing. All of us sat there for about three minutes until we finally agreed it wasn't a long preview and someone went to get staff. He came back with a worker who eventually shuffled us all into the room where The Lion King was supposedly playing, cleared out a mop and bucket, then in a few minutes our movie (IT 2) started. Funniest part? We all agreed seeing the beginning of The Lion King was scarier.
Josh G no, like literally no one came to the showing. Like I said, there was a mop and bucket just sitting out in the middle of the room, because they’d been halfway through cleaning. It’s a small town and a small theatre
All of the Disney animations are dubbed abroad and this new Lion King is not an exception. Don't know how is it with your versions guys but here where I live, they actually changed lyrics to Scar song, making him once or twice refrence the actual geo political situation in the country... eh... that is just what i needed in my favorite childchood cartoon - politics. Why dont they just spell it out that Scar is Trump...
@@adanmartinez5659 I knew it wasnt good (19% on Rotten) but it was way worse that I expected. THE WORST Mikkelsen movie ever. There are some good scenes but overall its total trash, a waste of time like 95% of Netflix movies.
@@m4rcin847 It's not a movie for everyone. But since you are being mean about it, I kind of think it's braindead to think it's trash. It means you can't comprehend what a lot of other viewers have, which shows your brain is not functioning at full capacity. I get it if you didn't like the far out, over the top characters and style in it, but it's kind of like Sin City, both based on over the top noir comics, where this just focuses on a more human John Wick. But maybe you didn't like or understand the style of Sin City either, then it's perfectly understandable you wouldn't like this.
2019 was weird. we had a lot of really good movies and a lot of really bad movies. most years everyone ends up with near identical list but 2019 really managed to shake up everyone's final reviews for the year.
@@Maverick-7508 he directed the best episode of the Mandalorian, what the fuck are you talking about? Not only that, Taika Waititi is a fantastic director.
Joe calling Rafiki “Rakishi” was hilarious. Brought me good memories of my childhood of my brother and I watching wrestling with my dad and his friend because we wanted to see if Rakishi would show up
I really liked it too madds is awesome and polar was actually really fun to watch. It was like a less serious more self aware John wick but with a cooler lead lol, reminded me of snake
yeah i really liked it too and was surprised when i heard joe talked down on it so hard. i did watch polar before i watched any of the john wick movies though so that may be why i thought it was good but wick blew it out of the water. still thought it was okay though
Daniel Orton Your profile reminds me of the "Fatherhood" demotivational poster of Tommy Vercetti in GTA Vice City. Not saying you should do that, but it reminds me of it.
@Sten Black rise is one of the best according to who ? you well that's his own list but rise was not good in the eyes of the majority of ppl and critcs no charlie's angels and hustlers did not come in 2018 it was sep and nov of 2019 climax was 2018 but it was released in other countries in 2019 making it for them a 2019 movie and yea climax is insane
@Sten Black oh sorry you put two and and i didn't see the he forgot bit well climax like other movies from other countries has this release date thing you can't even find the movie online until it comes to your countrey in theaters so it's a 2019 for alot of us
My #1 is easily CATS, which quickly has "Rocky Horror" like midnight shows already at Alamo Drafthouse cinemas. And like a commenter mentioned below, ya'll need to watch Matt Mcconaughey's WTF movie "Serenity" and add it to your 2020 Worst Of List.
With respect to the Lion King-- kudos to the poor CG people making some of history's best animation yet. They can't help the project overall sucks. As for Terminator-- well.. it's a "dark fate" but at least the movie gave me those precious T2 vibes back a couple times. **shrugs** 100% agree with everything else. Hope Joe's cousin lands a blockbuster soon.
TLDW (15) hellboy (14) La Llorona (13) norm of the north (12) terminator dark fate (11) lion king (10) Gemini man (9) the fanatic (8) polar (7) child’s play (6) dark Phoenix (5) replicas (4) dumbo (3) Star Wars: the rise of skywalker (2) CATS! (1) Climax
I 100% understand why Joe would think that Climax is "annoying". But he is completely ignoring the technical spectacle of this film. You don't have to be a director to appreciate the impressive amount of work and choreography that went into this. Whether you love it or hate it you have to admit there is absolute talent behind it.
Honestly, I was shocked to see Climax as his #1 worst movie. Sure it's a divisive film, but worst movie? It's as if he completely ignored the technical craft, which is the main reason why I loved it so much.
@@goomyman23 judt depends on what you consider 2019. The movie premiered in 2018 but didn't release in the US until 2019 so americans don't consider the movie until it's available to them
Nathan R I definitely see how it’s not for everyone but it’s now way a bad movie and certainly not the worst of the year, Joe just didn’t like it, but I’m upset he down talked it so much in stead of saying go out and try see it for yourself
Dude. Climax is amazing. It's one of the best of the year. What are you talking about. I love you Joe and love your reviews but I strongly disagree with your assessment of Climax.
@@Brandon-rb4sm it sure isn't for everyone. But the film making on display is excellent. Visceral and grounded. It's so much more than just a bunch of screaming women.
@Marc Valley my mom even really liked it lol, she doesn’t want to watch anytime soon but was very entertained the whole time and really felt the desperation and descent into madness the characters experienced
@@immortalzealot9725 Yea I suppose that does help. Although I'd like to think that people could appreciate the cinematography, music and everything else even if you're not experienced with drugs. Noe is an excellent filmmaker.
I liked Climax, I'm a big Gaspar Noe fan and I have a big appreciation for the experimental nature of the film. But at the same time I'll admit that I have a soft spot for pretentious crap that would be borderline insufferable for most people. Maybe I'm just getting old. But that's OK, I'm having fun, so no regrets here.
I didn’t find Climax pretentious at all though, and I think it’s a young person’s movie because of how chaotic and anxiety inducing it is. So I don’t think you’re getting old haha
@@SuperMurray2009 I like how Alex always has these giant drinks and is just quietly chugging them. Or that face he gets when you can tell he disagrees. He just rests his head on his fist and smirks.
I thoughr Climax was a really well made and unique film. Its not made for everybody and that's not a bad thing. But I thought it was a very visceral experience and couldn't take my eyes off the screen
I guess i have to see it then? I just fear it will be artsy fartsy end of year cinema school levels of bad. All non actors with interesting camera work. I have seen dozens of those cause i dated a cinema school student. Seems pretty boring and unoriginal to me, so unsure if i should watch it..
I agree with AJ. The people that put climax together obviously haven't done LSD before... or were told it was LSD but instead were given straight up crack! 🤪🤣🤦♂️
Myles Apodaca Idk what makes you say that, you have no idea how much LSD they consumed and if they had ever done it before I could definitely see someone going mad under those circumstances
I like that he kept a bad film on the list even though it involved his cousin. And one that we didn’t even know he saw. It may seem small but it really does keep you realizing how unbiased Joe is. It’s very rare to see people with that attitude anymore and it’s one of the reasons why I still respect his opinions and watch his content to this day, after years. You are good Joe, I hope this decade is amazing for you. Much love!
tfw Climax is my #1 of the year and on my top 10 for the decade... Gaspar Noe is an incredible director and Climax is one of his best. Not for everyone, so I understand why people would hate it, but it was everything I hope for in a Noe film and even exceeded expectation.
El Joaquin it’s almost criminal to put it at number one I get everyone has different taste and Joe probably wouldn’t enjoy Noe’s other films, but it’s upsetting because I’m sure most of his audience have never heard of this movie and now are less likely to.
@@Brandon-rb4sm Honestly, even though I get why Joe didn't like the film, I feel like he should have a sense of objectivity. It's just sad that he completely ignored/forgot about the opening dance sequence. That alone should have taken it off his #1 worst film if he has any sense of appreciation for good choreography.
03:55: Welp... Joe just got uninvited to the next family reunion.🤣 31:00: oh, so I'm *not* the only one who blames Chris Terrio? Cool. I actually loved _The Last Jedi_ , but _The Rise of Skywalker_ is a crime. *HOWEVER* , as much as you'd love to blame Kathleen Kennedy, this is all JJ Abrams' fault (and Chris Terrio's). He fucked up _Star Trek_ then he fucked up _Star Wars_ because he's revealing himself as a hack.
