There’s something annoying about the wendigo not being on this list, for those who don’t know, the wendigo is a monster, taking the appearance of either a pale, emaciated, human with sharp teeth, or more prominently as 12 ft tall man with a deer skull akin to the Minotaur, this creature has a bunch of tricks up its sleeve to lure its prey into it’s trap, the Natives fear this creature so much that it’s taboo to talk about it in their culture

For Dybbuk, if a person fears hell, or they've died instantly and don't know they're dead, sometimes they wind up in the Etheric Realm, the plane that bridges Physical & Astral Reality. Sometimes, spirits that had addictions in life will latch onto people with those same addictions. They're lost spirits and need help crossing over, unless they can come to terms with things they originally refused to let go of. These are the spirits that cause hauntings and other paranormal phenomena. That's my understanding of it.

Three you forgot: Jormungandr, also known as the Midgard Serpent, a son of Loki described as a cross between a python and a Chinese dragon that stretches all the way around the earth holding the tip of it's tail in it's mouth until Ragnarok. Said to kill Thor with it's poisonous breath and they both die together. Also, two from the Bible, Leviathon & Behemath described in unfathomable dementions & anatomy in vague sea serpent & hippo-crocodile amalgamations respectively.

The Skinwalker is missing. Also, while many tales of werewolves are terrifying there is also the tale of the Wulver in Scotland. It would help lost travelers, leave fish on the windowsill of poor or sick families, and sit outside the home sadly when someone inside was dying.

Not to sound skeptical, but I have been visited by the mare. When I was 3 years old, I woke up, its face was near my face and I couldn’t move or scream. It wasn’t until I scratched my brothers feet with my feet, he woke up and I was finally able to move. 2 years later, I told my parents about what I saw. I drawled what I saw and they quickly took my drawing and burned it. We went to church and got a blessing the following Sunday. I didn’t understand what was happening until 5 years ago

I've had something similar happen. When I was younger, I forget how old, I had a dream, where I was standing in the bottom of a canyon, in the canyon there was a figure that resembled my brother, only its eyes were red, and its skin was a blueish black, it said it knew what I was afraid of, and behind it I saw my mother sick in a bed. My fear was my mother dying. A little while later, I remember playing in the living room, and it was suddenly inches from my face, and for a split second it was there, smiling. Present day, I'm now older, and my mother got cancer, which seemingly started around that time. She died in her bed a couple years ago. Now I simply wonder, what did I see? Was it a demon? Was it the devil? Was it just an odd dream and my imagination? I don't know. I still wait for the f%%ker to show himself, so I can introduce him to fear of dying as I beat him senseless.

You know what's worse than the mananaggal? The penanggalan. The manananggal separates its upper torso to fly around. The penanggalan pops off its head and takes its organs and entrails with it as flies around.

I was getting disappointed that not one Philippine folklore creature was on the list being that the entries were from different culture mythologies until number 1. There are a lot more mythical creatures in Filipino folklore that scared me growing up and I think the Aswang is the most terrifying of them all.

Mare is from the Nordic countries where I'm from. In Denmark "nightmare" is called "mareridt" which translates to "mare ride". The word is hers and the terror she brings by riding people.

Kind of surprised the Kraken is on the list and not Leviathan or Cthullu (the former being the inspiration for the later). Wendigo and an angry Leshii/Leshy are the LAST thing you want to find in a forest. At least with a werewolf there is silver.

I was born in Latin America, LA Llorona's story is: A woman who lost her child and refused for anyone to feel that joy if she couldn't. She kidnaps children who won't listen to their parents. She entices them and leads them to a watery grave. She is always dedicated by a lady in a wedding gown sobbing by herself, she was cheated on and lost her child because now it was not possible. If she can't be happy no one will, so she robs parents other joy by drowning the kids. Also if someone cheats she takes their kids away out of her own envy. Moral of the story: Don't cheat, listen to your parents and don't take your blessings for granted.

The Penanggalan - which is similar to the Manananggal; only instead of splitting its body in half, it splits at the neck - its disembodies head (as well as its internal organs and entrails) flies about in search of prey (pregnant women and young children).

Don't forget about Skinwalkers. They're know to shapeshift into animals and imitate people by disguising their voices. The Navajo don't speak about this creature, because of how terrifying it is... There's also the Pukwudgie that comes from Wampanoag folklore. They lure people to their deaths...

04:10 Hold on, that sounds like that weird "lucid" nightmare that I had. I dreamed that I crashed the car and, even I knew that I was dreaming, I was unable to control it. Then some...person? approached me and started to choke me. My body was able to feel the bed and the sheets but I wasn't able to open my eyes at all and I could feel that thing's hand at my neck.

The Ahuizotl. It's said that it eats the eyes, teeth, and nails of his victims and uses their body as bate or uses the crying sounds of a baby near it's lake.
