While the regular bagels certainly didn't help, the glucose spike from Bobby's breakfast was mostly attributed to the OJ he drank - immediate blood absorption all at once. Everyone should read Dr. Peter Attia's Outlive book if you're interested in learning more from a doctor who really understands biochemistry from foods. Dr. Attia also did a great podcast with Dr. Robert Lustig on this subject.

The keto diet could cause low blood pressure, kidney stones, constipation, nutrient deficiencies and an increased risk of heart disease. Strict diets like keto could also cause social isolation or disordered eating. Keto is not safe for those with any conditions involving their pancreas, liver, thyroid or gallbladder. The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, moderate-protein, low-carbohydrate diet that can induce weight loss and improvement in glycemic control, but poses a risk of inducing hyperlipidemia, elevation of liver enzymes and onset of fatty liver disease.

No subtracting because those total carbohydrates will still spike that business!

I have gestational diabetes while pregnant and have learned a lot about blood sugar spikes. Tricky thing about GD is my carb needs are fairly high for baby so I can’t go keto. The only way for me to meet my carb needs while avoiding spikes is eating only whole wheat grains, and pairing them with fat, proteins, and fiber. Insulin resistance is worse in the morning so breakfast and lunch tend to be tougher than dinner. Exercise or any movement after eating helps mitigate blood sugar spikes too. Fruit is usually a no for me but I do tolerate berries very well (high in fiber).

One of the best ways to injure your heart is with blood sugar spikes. Yes your pancreas will eventually give you enough insulin to handle it but sustained high Bg levels cause your body to become insulin resistant . This damages all parts of your body 😊

Hi Bobby, switch the monitor to your left arm and you will see your glucose levels will be different than on your right arm. Even finger pricks are different between your right hand and your left hand. In fact, it will change even between fingers. Only really accurate glucose test is a blood draw at a lab. You are what you eat. Your diet impacts your health. Lower stress, reduce obesity and more exercise are key to a healthy life. Obesity in children and adults is rising across the world. Fast food and sugary drinks are contributing to the problem of poor health and obesity. Eat a healthy plant based diet and exercise regularly. Reduce or ELIMINATE cows milk, eggs, cheese and meat. Eat more salad greens, beans, fruit and vegetables. Eliminate fast food, snacks like cookies, cakes, chips, and sugary drinks and juices. Every adult and child should own a bicycle and ride it regularly. Regular exercise will help you sleep better. Yoga is a great stress reducer. Obesity is all too common today. Get off the couch. Get off the phone, ipad or video game. A variety of stretching and other exercises help with increased mobility. Ride to work, ride to school, ride for fun. Every city should be a bicycle city. Speak up for bicycles in your community

Even children today have signs of artery disease. Fast foods and sugary drinks have long term consequences. There is an obesity epidemic today where over 60% of the population is overweight or obese. What is common today and "NORMAL" is not healthy. The average person today is not healthy and is taking medications. Heart attacks were once only common in people over 65. Today people in their 40 are having heart attacks. Add more plants and vegetables to your diet and less junk and overly processed foods

Unless you're diabetic or in a serious health condition then the CGM is needed to watch out your insulin through the day. It's not a good idea to wear the monitor permanently under skin if you have a normal healthy blood glucose level. Your BG fluctuate constantly no matter what you eat or even in fasting mode. If you're prediabetic (I was ) the best is doing finger pricking. 1) more accurate 2) save you a lot of money. Check with your insurance you may get a free kit. My doctor prescribed me the monitor unlimited test strips and lancets Free until now even i am back to normal in the 80s before bed and morning wake up. My doctor disagree with using CMG when you're not in real trouble. It causes you more stress for constantly checking the readings. I see a lot people at pool, gym obsessed with it and constantly focus on the reading results. It's trendy like the smart phone that everyone nowadays glueing to the screen everywhere. Having the CGM is like having 2 cell phones to keep your mind busy all day, even when you wake up in the middle of the night for bathroom!!!!!! Save money and save your brain. Ask your doctor for a free kit if you're diabetic or prediabetic. And prick your finger 3 times a day. No pain and no marks.

Contrary to popular belief there is not one single piece of evidence that says "breakfast is the most important meal of the day". If there is please provide a link. People with a damaged metabolism often awaken with elevated blood sugar and insulin levels before eating anything. They do better prolonged fasting with a 20-4 fasting or an omad diet. Neither of which includes "the most important meal of the day".

Glucose monitors are a scam. Short term blood glucose spikes are not necessarily bad. It is prolonged and frequent spikes that are the problem. Low glycemic foods are different from the portrayed ultra processed foods "..fiber when present in the human diet is its ability to reduce the rate of absorption of glucose after consumption of high glycemic carbohydrate-containing foods".

I saw a video by Dr. Jason Fung and he mentioned that pairing carbs with a protein and a fermented and/or acidic food also helps neutralize carbs. Would like to see you do a video on that. Maybe salads with no sugar dressing with vinegar base or a Squeeze or lemon or lime.

And this is exactly the reason I could no longer get my Libre monitor filled at the pharmacy, then switched to the G6 and now the G7. I hate that non diabetes are using glucose monitors and diabetics are having trouble filling prescriptions for medical devices and medications.

I’m on a journey To lose weight but I’m trying to lose weight on basically eating all the food groups and it appears as if you still can have some of your favorite carbs like whole wheat pasta’s or whole wheat breads if you pair it with high fiber vegetables and proteins and taking a walk which is good news since I don’t want to get rid of all of the carbs.

I bet if you mixed that Mac and cheese with some chicken or fish or some other type of meat that blood glucose probably wouldn’t spike as high. Of course it also depends on the amount you eat too.

these experiments are certainly interesting, however - N=1 is not convincing. repeat the sweet potato and cold treated potato several times,...

How user friendly is that glucose monitor? Is there support to help me get started? That’s pricey per year if there’s no help from the manufacturer

Rice flour is not traditional pasta though…I’d be interested in the same experiment using real pasta.
