So i have a 2008 Tundra, I have a Check Engine Light, 4LO Blinks constantly and VCS is off. Clearing it with code reader and popping the battery terminal no longer fixes this issue. Any Ideas?

The main problem with the Tundras is that they don't die. So if your married like me and can only get a new truck once your old one breaks make sure you get the tundra you really love because once you commit your never gonna own another truck again.

2007 tundra 110,000 miles still going strong. Replaced water pump at around 55k. Rear shocks at 110k. One caliper brake I believe at 95k. Sparkplugs 100k. And all the regular maintenance. My only concern is the rust underneath the vehicle.

I got one for you.... This is for those of us who don't buy into the "lifetime" transmission fluid, and want to drop the pan to change the filter, then maybe flush the old fluid. Toyota decided to use relatively long, skinny bolts to hold the pan to the transmission case. On top of that, the pan bolts that run along the right and left sides of the trans go all the way through the trans case, and protrude out of the top. This allows gravity to pull water, and salt down into the threads. This, in conjunction with the aluminium case, and steel bolts results in severe corrosion. The heads snap off the bolts, and those suckers fight you to the death drilling them out. Do yourself a favor, and take a look at your pan bolts. If you replace them, throw some anti seize on them first.

Good video. No scare tactics, just the facts. I have an 06, bought new, 260,000 no major issues. A 13, bought new, 113.000 no issues. A 10 Sequoia, bought used with 198,000, has 220,000 now, no issues. The 5.7's get better mileage than the 4.7.

Yep. I have an 08 tundra with 320,000 miles. I’ve put in a bypass kit for the air induction pumps, replaced my front hubs 3 times and rear hubs once, and I’m currently dealing with a check engine like for catylatic efficiency that I’m pretty sure is an O2 sensor issue. So far no issues with the exhaust manifold. Ignition coils have obviously been replaced due to general wear and tear. So far this has been an absolute tank of a truck. No major issues at all.

Wrong about the secondary air pumps. If one or both are stuck in the open position the truck will go into limp mode and you'll have no power. The dash will light up like a Christmas tree. Toyota will charge you several thousand to fix it, even though it's a known flaw in the design. Hewitt Tech makes a bypass setup that requires no wire cutting and looks factory.

I own a 2011 V-8 CrewMax 263K, I replaced the spiral cable twice, found out the entire truck is built around the starter, lol replaced that and besides tires, batteries etc. that’s all I’ve done up until this past weekend. I had the 4LO, traction control and Check engine light flashing but it would run fine. I cleaned the throttle body as a precaution, it was really dirty. The symptom lights cleared themselves before I cleaned it though but it’s still running fine. For the life of the vehicle I have made it a habit to add fuel injector cleaner about every third fill up. The key is I change brands each time. I’ll use B-12, Lucas, Seafoam, and several others because they generally have different cleaning agents. So that’s my story and as a guy that loves the GM platform and has lots of affection for the F-250 I can say I’ve never regretted a day owning the Tundra, it is the most reliable vehicle anyone could own.

2016 5.7 fuel pump and fuel module at 41,000 miles. Dealer was full of Tundras with same issue. Why is this not being told to owners? Recall for 2018 and above, but all earlier have same pump.

I can only speak to this video, which was specifically the 2nd gen tundra, 2007-2013. Not sure what's happened, but the issues seem to have grown in the 14 and up, why I'm keeping my 08's until they disintegrate, looks like it's going to be a while.

You forgot to include "THIS Tundra" in your description. If it was for all 2nd gen Tundras, then you definitely forgot the water pump, which typically lasts 60-90K.

Is the cam tower leak common in the 07 model? I tend hear that people have the issue with 2008+ but what about the 07? If not, then what did they do differently. Also, I’m currently dealing with secondary air injection issues for the first time in my 07 5.7L with 215k miles. If I get the whole thing fixed, would it reoccur? The dealer quoted me $2100 to fix.

I don’t think any of those can really be considered problems. If so that is exactly why the Tundra is the most reliable truck on the road.

I'm having issues with mine. Rough idle, stalls but then turns back on fine & lack of power. I've changed the spark plugs, the idle air control valve, the throttle body, and the O2 censors. Still having issues.

I'm surprised he didn't mention the electronic 4x4. The way it's tied together with the ABS it's not the most reliable.

Was getting itchy palms with little red dots. Thought it was eczema or something then figured out the door handles and bed caps have fiberglass splinters. I avoid touching them and the itching went away.

The secondary air pumps dont blow aor into the exhaust. It blow air into a valve thing that sit on top of the engine in the back, and it seems like it blows air right into thw engine

My 2007 Toyota Tundra 5.7 starts but it won't come on, what can be wrong with it?
@MegaWatching
@MegaWatching 2 года назад
No theses 5.7 iforce 2008 to present have way more problems. They leak from the valve cover covers, main rear seal and water pump and when you put the pedal down it puts out a sulfur/rotten egg smell from the exhaust. I would stay away from these vehicles. Talking from experience of a 2008 4X4 SR5 original owner.
