Welcome to the loc journey love! Those beginning stages are truly like the honeymoon phase…you’re just so in love and obsessed with them! I’m glad these tips were helpful for you. 😌❤️
I interlock every 4-5 months …. My locs are thick (and I had fine 4c hair ) ! ….. it’s just important that you pay attention to your hair …. Just dropping this hère because there are a lot of misconceptions about interlocking …… for maintenance when my hair starts growing out (I use oil and do a lil retwist at the front )
Thanks I am considering getting locks for the first time in my life. I love to be informed as this information is excellent advice for beginners like myself. Thank you
You are so right! After the second year my locs dropped and started growing like mad. Also agreed avoid heavy cremes and butters. The more natural your products and the simpler your routine the better.
When you said about locs dropping at the 2 year mark or 2 years and a half I definitely noticed that my locs started dropping exactly around 2 years. So you are spot on with that statement! I am now over 4 years locked and I will be 5 years locked this September 😁🥰
Thank you Queen! ❤️ & You’re so very welcome love! Anything that I can provide to help that I didn’t know personally when I started is truly my pleasure! 😌🤗
Happy Kee Sunday!! 🤎 thank you for all of the tips!! I’m only 5 months in but there is still so much to learn! So far I’m loving my loc journey but I am ready to be at Kee length 🤌🏾😮💨 your locs are beautiful!! I thought I was the only one who didn’t love the retwist look!! Like it’s nice and neat but I like a little frizz and texture! What can you recommend to thicken your edges as time goes on??
I hope you enjoyed your Mother’s Day Ash! 🤗💐 it’s really crazy how that drop comes out of NOWHERE! I look back at my old videos from time to time and I’m still amazed at how drastic it was! I’d recommend lots of scalp stimulation and your fav hair growth oil. I’ve have issues in the past (before my locs) with my edges thinning due to relaxers and braids and stuff. Just take a good long break from the tight styles and massage those areas in the morning and at night with your fav hair growth oil. One of my fav oils for hair growth specifically is the wild hair growth oil that comes in the white & green squeeze bottle. 🤗
Ok, how about the crazy phase, lol! 🤪Anyway great tips. I just hit 4 months and have unraveling from the root and the end of the loc thicker with budding. Hopefully my loctition has a solution. My concern is over time the locs will thin and completely break. It doesn’t help I have fine strands, and even finer strands around the perimeter😬. Which, of course is where the unraveling is happening. I want to avoid the scalpy look at all costs. That was my biggest concern when starting my locs. As always your hair looks amazing. I’m in it for the long hall! I just keep hope alive and pray🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾! Thanks for sharing!☺️
Ya know, I can def support the crazy phase 🤣🤣🤣 Perfect term!! I am SO glad that you are working with a loctician and doing the research. We all have different things to learn about our own hair/head of locs and I love putting out what I’ve learned to help my other loc Queens & Kings out! 🤗🤗🤗
I started my locs journey on May 13, but I had to wash my locs the next week. My scalp eats up oils and now my locs are a mess, but I'm believing in the process. I'm supposed to go get my retwist on June 25, but I think my scalp right now is itching badly. I'm asking you should I go on June 11 and it will be close to my 4 weeks
Honestly, you can wash them again if your scalp is itching that badly. I know they look really frizzy and wild but i promise they aren’t ruined we all go through it 🤗 Def try not to get your retwists too close together and anything that unravels or frizzes, your loctician will tame once you go in for your appointments 🤗
Thank you for this video. Very informative. I’m 4 months in with 2strand twist but I fine that some of my babies are flat mostly where I tie my scarf. How can I get then back to their cylinder shape? I get my hair done every 6 weeks
You are so very welcome! 😌 Coming from someone who started their locs while in the military, I can 100% relate to starter loc babies being flat. I always had to tie my hair down and where buns. In the beginning there really is no way to keep them from taking every form that they get manipulated into just because they are not fully loc'd/mature on the inside...hence the flattening effect. Probably not the answer you want but to my knowledge and experience only time (for your locs to mature & bud more) will fix this. Also, try to keep them unrestricted as possible when you can. 🤗 Thank you so much for watching love!
@@Katana_926 Def make sure to palm roll all the way down when you’re retwisting/doing maintenance & i’m sure they will come out beautiful! Trust the process 😌😌😌
I have a questions is it a bad thing that I retwist every 4 weeks ? Will that bring any damage ?I have starter locs i just got them this month on the first.
Hi, your video is on point. I like to know which retwist method you are consistent with? The palm roll? Well, some not all of my new growth grows longer and I do not like the interlock method so much because I am afraid they will not unravel right and I will lose my length if and whenever I was to decide to unlock. Also, I never palm roll just freeform, so occasionally the loc grows thick in one place and below it the loc tappers off thinner,. Not only that where the roots grew longer the hair begin to wick loc, It's hack of cool. I now use a small squirt bottom 2 oz filled with rosewater and dampen my roots and it helps loc naturally so I do not have to retwist. There are one or two that are still stubborn and do not twist but grows out faster. I am trying to avoid knots . I was forced to save my dangling ends by tying a knot. LoL. It worked. It's just the ends. But the interlock crochet Knotting scares me because in time if I want to unlock it's a possibility it will break off the lock instead of separating smoothly. Thank you for all your love in keeping us abreast on our loc journey.
I’m 5 mths in, these were great points and tips you covered. I love how your locks look. Do you dye them black or is your hair dark. I hate how dingy mine look I want to dye them, but think maybe I should wait
I’m glad you found value in my tips! 🤗 And my hair is naturally very dark i hadn’t colored my locs at all until recently when i put my highlights in. I’d say def wait a little bit until you have really good budding and they aren’t coming a loose. Chemicals change your hair’s texture so i was always nervous about disturbing the locing process.
Absolutely, I made a video all about starter loc tips. Here is the link or you can click my “All about my Locs” playlist. 🤗 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ymWHm7RJYS0.htmlsi=TST6JqnYPbL4N-pC
