Thank God Tom Cruise didn't join the MCU to play an alternate Tony Stark in the last Doctor Strange movie, this was a MUCH better choice to deliver us a standard summer blockbuster that is what we've been waiting for all along. Action, soundtrack, and a happy ending has everything we've been wanting to see for about 3 years now. Thanks for this film!
Bro this was shot in 2018/2019, doctor strange 2 was filmed in 2021, but I agree I don’t want Tom wasting his prime years in the MCU, what a waste that would be
Hear me out, I was cheering for Mav of course. But that maneuver the SU pilot pulled at 1:07 was a masterpiece!! I yelled in the theater and everything! This movie was so good!
Mav twice getting that ancient F-14 behind a far more advanced jet is incredible to see. The moment for me is one I just noticed on rewatch.. hundred and ten.. when he gets the second jet and Rooster says splash two, you hear the original Topgun soundtrack! Doo dooo doooo..
@@lespaulguitarist92 it's not meant to be propaganda. pretty sure the whole movie crew knew this was bullshit but since it's meant to be a movie they went away with it
@@F22raptor46 yh I saw two pilots discussing the sequence on the film an when they confirmed it can be done I found the whole thing even cooler! Even if the tomcat would have been totally squashed within a minute.
5:08 can we all agree Rooster’s laugh here is adorable and the prefect reaction for the scene. I like the “father-son” dynamic between him and Maverick. Great casting. And thank goodness for Hangman! 🙌
I just saw this damn movie. Goddammit, this fool, this dreamer, this frigging actor that I don't like has made an INSPIRING incredible movie. Thank you Mr. Cruise, it galls me to say it, you are wonderful, your kind is headed for extinction, but not today. A hell of a movie. Hope you get a goddam Oscar for it.
I think after the pilot did the manuver he immediately shut the engines off cause aren't they using heat seeking missiles and what not. He then turns them back on when he is safely behind mav to pursue them.
The "Mental Health" stigma is being destroyed as I am typing this... This movie saved Hollywood and Mr. Tom Cruise did an excellent job and always goes above and beyond to help the cast out. Always remember all of those behind the scenes. Love you all. Kurt David Rohlman
So like, obviously this is a god damn masterpiece and it's hard to pick favourites, but thise scene 7:25 has to be in the top 3 for this movie. The chaos of each pilot frantically trying to relay their situation to their wingman and all fighting for their lives, voices overlapping and then that BEAUTIFUL shot at 7:32 mixed with the music is absolutely perfect.
I got to admit the dog fight scenes in this movie were fantastic. This is probably already in the making but it would but great if they had missiles that would shoot toward the aft of the jet to hit a target directly behind them like on the movie Firefox with Clint Eastwood.
Mavricks strategy is brilliant..."smoke in the air" then he cuts off the SU's wingman so the missile hits and kills him... 😅 brilliant move. I love this movie.
This enemy pilot would have to return in another Top Gun movie to get revenge. He was calm and cold as ice throughout the fight, plus that crazy maneuver (I know it would be useless in real combat) A worthy opponent for Maverick and a good supporting character for the movie (better than the enemy pilot at the end, who absolutely does not notice that Hangman fires a missile at him. He must have turned off the sound of the missile warning 😂)
“WTF was that?!” Got me laughing to my death and the even more funnier part was how that one enemy jet did some kind of ohio action move that I don’t even know what he did but mavericks side eye was like 😒😮. 😂😂😂😂
i was stuck taking my sisters kids and their friends to this show. had the 80s version in my mind and wasnt stoked about 2hrs of macho blah. also wasnt happy about driving an hour each way and losing the whole day because food after ect. get the circus seated, show starts. i fully loved this movie. from start to finish it was great. the love story was almost too long but didnt ruin it. i since watched the first one and it was better than i remember but didnt hit like this one. this is a great movie.
its all just propaganda mate, the f14 will lose in dodge fight to su57 in every scenario bro :'D su57 is the most manuverable plane, it literally can just stop and turn around in any time
Rooster: com on Mav! Do some of that pilot shit! Mavrick: *thinking that time he hit the brakes and bogey flew right by* Merlin: YOU'RE GONNA DO WHAT?!
"Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, this is your saviour speaking... please fasten your seatbelts, return your tray tables to their locked and upright positions... and prepare for landing.." GOOSEBUMPS at its finest...
I like how they use the modern vernacular, "Dagger X defending." You hear the same thing multiple times on the video where the pilot dodges 5 SAMs, "Stroke X defending."
Im highly amazed he did all of that with a very old jet vs a much more advanced jet, also like how it functions as a call back to TP1. (He flew an F-14 in that too).
first SU he destroyed with surprise, ok ... second one was pure nonsense :) SU would outmaneuver him by far, also after cobra maneuver, that pilot would not spin in the air that long, he would immediately go for their tail, lock them and shot them down before them even realizing it ... when rooster was saying "what the hell was that" in reality rocket would be flying at them already at that point
The writer expresses gratitude that Tom Cruise didn't play an alternate Tony Stark in the last Doctor Strange movie and instead, they got a standard summer blockbuster with action, soundtrack, and a happy ending in "Top Gun: Maverick", praising the enemy pilot as a worthy opponent for Maverick and a good supporting character, and hoping for a third movie where war breaks out and Rooster grows as a fighter pilot, using skills taught by Maverick, and takes Maverick's son under his wing
@@TheBigExclusiveThe Russian. The one he was fighting for the majority of the video. they ejected. So it's a good potential future of a masked person for a sequel.
splitting the throttles 0:51 such a smart evasive maneuver with left and right rudder controls to bank the jet on an acute degree turn angle. Too smart
@@emmanuelyemoh2040 both, also taught in f15. Not sure about f18 as I don't know any f18 pilots. It would be taught in ground and air. They have to learn that whole manual plus fly it
@@holliheizer what do you mean real skin of f14. There are no f14s flying now except in Iran. Only us models are stripped down static displays and some in Arizona bone yard
I hope they make a 3rd one where war breaks out from the aftermath of this. Maverick ends up going head to head with a very skilled pilot and gets killed after a very intense dog fight. Rooster ends up witnessing it being his wingman. Then towards the end, have rooster go one on one with that pilot that killed maverick and win. I feel like it would be a very emotional roller coaster, and also show how rooster grew as a fighter pilot, using skills maverick taught him to become one of the best, as maverick was. I’d kill to get a sequel like that. Maybe have maverick have a kid and rooster takes him under his wing like a father figure, the same way maverick did with rooster in the end. Have rooster take him for a ride in the end with mavericks old p51 mustang.
