True as I was young I felt iceman was the villain but as I got older I was like he’s not he just telling him the way he drives but I could see depending o. Type of personality a person is I could see how if your a wild risky dude how iceman would annoy you as a character cause his character is a reminder of your dad telling you why you drove so risky

The volleyball scene, aside from its visual appeal for women and gay dudes, was to show how the spirit of competition was in these characters' blood. It even extended outside of their line of work, and into the games they played for fun. In the sequel, a similar scene was instead used to help built a sense of teamwork. Both scenes helped develop the story, and therefore had valid excuses to include some eye-candy for whoever might enjoy that.

It's almost like wokeness actually causes immaturity along with a severe lack of a sense of humor. I never see this generation of friends roasting each other as we did. If you had thin skin, it toughened you up for the real world not just a job as a barista. The only thing this generation is "allowed" to laugh at is past generations. We didn't think about homoeroticism to the extreme back then, but it's apparently on these young people's minds constantly.
@michaelhenry3234
@michaelhenry3234 Год назад
@@budhalbr "This generation" roasts the shit out of each other all the damn time. Gen Z grew up shit talking each other in COD, slurs were their slang. This is the era of 4chan and deliberate degeneracy. A whole subculture of people get their rocks off offending people on twitter. One friend group's political correctness presented on a public platform like RU-vid is not indicative of how an entire generation acts.

Growing up in the 1980s like I did, you don't skip out on what this film meant to the culture. Months earlier, there was a film of similar content called Iron Eagle (loosely based on true events) that had spawned 3 sequels. But Top Gun would eventually outrun, outgross and overshadow that film. Cruise as an leading man on his A-game with a great supporting cast. The late, great Tony Scott (brother of Ridley Scott) with one of his first blockbusters features with producers Bruckheimer and Simpson. Everybody wanted to be a fighter pilot after seeing this and the impact on recruitment was unbelievable. No.1 film of 1986, soundtrack goes platinum and the song "Take My Breath Away" by Berlin won an Oscar & Golden Globe for Best Original Song. There was is a video-game franchise. 18 games in a row. It was in limited re-release for IMAX theatres only in 2013 and it was just as good the second time

Just to clarify something because I didn't see it in the comments yet. The "hard deck" of 10000ft. is the "simulated" ground. Maverick saying "I was below the deck for only a few seconds" would mean "I was only under the ground for a few seconds" in a real life combat situation... So RIP.

Quentin Tarantino's actual quote on the homoeroticism in Top Gun "You’ve got Maverick, all right?” He’s on the edge, man. He’s right on the f-ing line, all right? And you’ve got Iceman, and all his crew. They’re gay, they represent the gay man, all right? And they’re saying, go, go the gay way, go the gay way. He could go both ways…Kelly McGillis, she’s heterosexuality. She’s saying: no, no, no, no, no, no, go the normal way, play by the rules, go the normal way. They’re saying no, go the gay way, be the gay way, go for the gay way, all right? That is what’s going on throughout that whole movie."

That actual air flow disruption caused what you saw, The changes were made when new engines were installed on the f-14 tomcat

What is creepy courting behavior today would have been cute and flattering, albeit embarrassing, back in the 1980s. I think the news media has managed to make everyone hypersensitive and afraid of everyone else. Things weren't like that in the 1980s. Bad things happened occasionally, of course, but people weren't so afraid. A guy in the supermarket could ask for an employee's number because he thinks she's cute, and she wouldn't call the police to report stalking and an attempted rape. 😄 "Why don't you go on Tinder like a normal person instead of sexually harassing me at work, you creep?! I feel so violated. 😭 Get me a therapist!"
